Is this supposed to be English?

Yes, it's firmly good. Flaws and all.

Personally I’d say very good to great.

Yeah, I personally love it. I think the art and design approach is incredible. The reverent, loving detail. There's some amazing moments and scenes, and the broad strokes of the plot are good, but the execution leaves a little to be desired. In that it moves a bit too quickly and needed a little room to breathe.

Well, just that really. Events and motivations and stuff move a bit too fast, especially once the gulag is built, and I find myself interested at what's taking place between panels or scenes. In spending a little more time with each of our characters and set pieces. It's 4 action packed issues, and that's fine, but something like 6 would have maybe been ideal.

                Anonymous

I genuinely completely disagree that it needed to be decompressed. Let alone with saying it’s “4 issues” when they’re 48 page issues which really makes it closer to 9. But to each his own, I guess some people prefer decompression.

I 100% knew I was walking into the "le decompression" meme, but wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt anyway in good faith. Anyway I recant, as loving it isn't enough, i'm now forced to admit it's unimpeachable. There is nothing I would change after all.

Implies I’m arguing in bad faith. I simply disagree with the idea that 200 pages wasn’t enough, you histrionic little b***h.

Nah, sometimes the art can be so good it can trick people into liking terrible writing. Long Halloween is a prime example of this.

Yes, anyone claiming it isn’t is either a contrarian, hasn’t read it personally (likely parroting a YouTuber), or the type of delusional Wonder Woman gay who intentionally misreads everything to construe it as ruining her character.

It's entertaining. It's not great. It would be nothing without the art and even with it it's still a very flawed, whiny, extremely pretentious story. But it's fun enough seeing edgy Superman fight Shazam and shit like that.

It has good moments but once you start examining the narrative it breaks down. Given the behind the scenes it's amazing it's coherent at all.

Artistic masterpiece, The Captain Marvel splash is one of the best pages in comic history period.
Obviously the the story is a pretentious cynical take down of 90's comic heroes which still screams desperate today but has a lot of cool ideas like Flash being everywhere at once

The art is amazing if you like painted comics like the European stuff. If you like American comic style with expressive lines and simple, vivid colors you might not like it so much. The story is pretty much the old guard versus the new guard with a bit of pessimism versus optimism set in the comic era where you had silver age fans decrying the edginess of 90s comics. If they adapted the same story today, beat for beat with any current artists it would be regarded as on par with Flashpoint or White Knight.

I don’t think this is fair. Because that would mean it wasn’t already done with kingdom come. Also flashpoint isn’t as bad as white knight, not even close.

    Earth X is better.

I definitely liked it. When I started really getting into superhero comics a few years ago Kingdom Come was one of the first tpb's I picked up and it was unlike anything else I had read up to that point. Ross' paintings are definitely the main draw but it was fun seeing the contrast between the older generations of heroes and the newer generations and the final battle between Supes and Marvel is still one of my favorite comic moments. Poor Billy : (

Earth X is way better than Kingdom Come imo though. Not that KC was bad but the scale of the story was done much better there, it had enough room to breathe, and it's just a great love letter to classic Marvel while still doing something new. What did you think of Universe and Paradise? Personally I enjoyed them as much as Earth and the trilogy as a whole is my all time favorite comic storyline and stories in general.
