the entire cartel plot was unnecessary the show should have been about Jimmy being a scum bag lawyer

They probably would have to have some cartel stuff to bridge the BrBa connection, but yeah, it should have been a tenth of what it was.

    >was inserting a capeshitter character into the show necessary?
Tbh, it was probably necessary due to the hack Vince running on fumes, but his character was just another nail in the coffin

I don't know if he's in marvel stuff, but his character in BCS is capeshit tier

The whole Gus arc was unnecessary. What did we learn about Gus that we didn't know before? Why was a season spent on the construction of the lab? Did anyone really ask the question "OH MY GOD, HOW DID GUS EVER BUILD THE LAB?"

Why is there next to no lawyering in a show about a lawyer?

No. She's not even mentioned. Without Better Call Saul her character technically doesn't exist.

when you look it on paper lalo is an incredibly shit character but hes just so likeable because of tony daltons performance so he gets away with it

he's a necessary character to explore Gus' motives and to accelerate Jimmy's and Kim's downfall

without him the show would have been boring, he serves his role well

      >to explore Gus' motives
unneccessary. it was already known Gus was a homosexual former military officer fueled by gay revenge

BCS explores this part more than in BB. BCS was the setup, the how and the why while BB was the what

Lalo was also the only character that pushed Gus to its limit (if you don't count his death in BB), which allow us to explore a side of Gus we haven't seen before, a more fragile and human side

it is shown perfectly with Gus' last scene with the sommelier

you already saw gus's more vulnerable side when walter exploited that to kill him and he also pushed Gus to his limit. Everything you described had already been done before.

weakest link in the series IMO, in particular the "spec ops" team that doesnt even use their eyes or any semblance of tactical skill. I feel like the key moments in the lalo arc were well thought out, but most things connecting them were kind of meh. the most capeshit about him imo was his behavior, like body language and speech. The fact that we got to see Mike so much made up for it

His whole purpose is to teleport places and do something to accelerate the plot

The cartel storyline was unnecessary but Lalo's performance injected some needed charisma and tension. It would have been 10x better if he was not related to the BB cartel and drug shit, so he didn't have to die.

I honestly wished they spent more time exploring Saul Goodman between Kim leaving him and BB. There’s a significant amount of character development that is glossed over (him turning into a complete and shameless scumbag)

And he does the same shit in the BRBA era. He goes after rich people and strong arms them into settling with his clients under threat of tedious litigation and libel.
His commerical and talk with Kevin in the parking lot are absolutely shameless and disgusting.

He was a fun meme character for the first season he appeared, but he basically exists as a minor inconvenience to Gus and as a convenient unpredictable psycho man to unceremoniously kill off Howard rather than finding a better way to wrap his part of the story up.
