It made Roxie more popular. So for that alone I’d say yes.

Its worth watching for the visuals I guess but the story sucked and most of the characters were totally bastardized to fit said story.

No, all it did was hamper certain character arcs like Knives who instead of going through a crazy stalker arc and realizing she needs time for herself she instead just tells Scott (The audience) that she's over him despite the fact she was infatuated with the guy up to even after he "died" and mingled in the background with Scotts friends for most of the series

It's time travel coffee shop au fanfiction with a very high budget.

If you're watching it as a standalone series with a "plot" or "characters" you're doing it wrong. Watch it literally just to see cute designs of characters you like move around and it isn't too bad. With the help of some heavy inebriation it's pretty decent. BLOM made the show for a demographic of people that wanted to see designs and literally not ingest any messages or themes. Maybe make a character or two act a tad gayer, make the rapists get hit with the woobification beam, and people will eat it up. Shatterband not being more prominent is a crime.

It's weird how the show made a much bigger deal out of Scott being a scumbag for dating Knives, but also made her seem older by having her instantly join Scott's friend group with no drama and then pitch a broadway musical, instead of being a highschooler trying to butt in and deal with being left out of the cool hipster scene.

This, Knives involvement was so much more fittingly awkward in the comics. The beach drinking scene being the best example. It feels like the people writing this version just went "People like Knives so we should make her do more funny things!" without taking into account her actual character at all.

Though honestly, "not taking into account their actual character" is an issue for basically everyone in this show.

      >but also made her seem older by having her instantly join Scott's friend group with no drama
To be fair, she got along great with Stephen in the books and Kim does think she's cute enough to make out with while drunk. Her learning music with Kim helped kick things off in the show.

Yeah but it takes until the 5th book until they're seriously close, he's indulging her like she's a little sister in 4 instead of her being part of the group.

not gonna lie kim x knives pisses me off purely because it shows the massive double standard of the types that b***h about scott and knives. At least scott wasn't actually doing anything to serious with her while they want knives and kim to basically bang

nta but most of the people who b***h about Scott being a creep aren't the same ones who jerk it to Kim and Knives.

Pretty sure at least some are I've seen the replies and tweets of some of the shippers and usually very telling. Like white rose from rwby they'll say it's fine but not rosegarden which was the same age diff just male female. They are yuri schizos, i don't care one way or the other just don't be hypocrites.

It's good for what it is, I feel like a lot of people are still salty about not getting an actual adaptation.

And they should be. I'm annoyed that Takes Off was well received when it's another in the long line of shows that lied about their premise.

No, it's absolute dogshit. When "Scott Pilgrim" by Plumtree started playing at the end I got angry because of how unearned it was.

I liked it as a way to see all the characters I like get more screen time and interact in ways they couldn't in the regular story. Other than that I don't even know how it's watchable if you're not already familiar with it

Would've been interesting but the fact that almost all of the cast are OOC as frick during most scenes ruins it.

it's like watching an interpretation of the comic from someone who has never lived as a normal 20 something, and instead only latched onto the video game references, fandom memes, and melodrama of the last volume
