Was the lighting guy on vacation?

It is kind of comical that of everything else, that scene is super well lit.

Several scenes have good lighting, like when they go into the police depot. It's just the stuff that was dark on purpose that looks like shit.

They darkened it in post production to hide how shitty it was.

I refuse to watch either of these crossovers again. Why they hell are they set in modern anyhow? Would the humans that survived at least make a record of the Xenomorph so that when Ripley and crew encounter it hundreds of years later, they'd know what it was?

i have never seen this film past the kino predator homeworld scene. redpill me on why i should bother, it's the only film in the alien and predator series i haven't seen.

this, i ask myself all the time why would they waste such a fantastic concept by setting it in the modern day and not the far future like the comics did. because of that alone it's non-canon to the alien films and that honestly upsets me, the first isn't great but it's passable and i can even headcanon bishop weyland into being peter weyland's dad.

I believe that heard all of the backlash of 2 predators getting whacked by one single xeno in the first AVP so the Predator in AVP:R is like a force of nature and kills a ton of xenos. So it's good for those scenes but other than that the movie is bad so don't have high expectations.

Trash movie, but they had balls for killing the kid AND that insane hospital scene.

It's a disgusting, low-class movie made by a couple of dumb gorehounds and it's better that you barely see anything in it.

No there is a BTS video where one of the camera guys says out loud I can't see shit and the director tells him to STFU. I'm dead serious.

    AVP-R is underrated & decent.

    Pros
    > One of the most badass Predators of the series.
    > Great Pred design & suit. Much more traditional than the Pred suits in the 1st AVP.
    > Sewer battle & final battle are solid despite lighting.
    > Sheriff is likable.
    > The actress from 24 is a decent Ripley ripoff, better then the b***h from Covenant
    > Great Predalien design & effects.

    Cons
    > Rest of the cast has minimal likability.
    > WAY too darkly lit.
    > The Alien suits aren't the best.
    > Meh/Weak-ish ending.
    > Small town setting is meh.
    > The prego slaughter is almost too mean spirited.

I agree with everything. Killing the pregnant women looked really out of place and was basically just edgy for the sake of being edgy

the creature was simply demonstrating its power and intellect by choosing a pregnant woman with multiple hosts inside of her to feed as many offspring as possible, so as to maximize efficiency. its an interesting organism.

The biggest problem for both the AvP films is that the predator/alien fights are very obviouisly stuntmen in rubber suits that can't see a damn thing awkwardly slapping at each other. I think they turned the lights off to try to hide that but it doesn't work.

i can't comment for avpr but the first has mostly cgi xenos or puppets, there's maybe one shot in this where it's a guy in a suit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_qQhFo07Gg

If you look at the trailer to this film the same scenes shot are all well lit. Fox I heard fricked it up in the editing.

yeah, Fox darkened it in post to market it as a horror-flick for teens

Which means the masters reel can be salvaged to clean up the darkness issues. If FOX gave a shit, though.

Disney isn't interested in reviving AVP, unfortunately. And even if thet did, so many people hated AVPR their would be no business sense to clean up this film

reminder that there is a completed avp anime sitting in the disney vault waiting to go.
          >disney isn't interested
wrong, disney wants to see how the new alien movie and tv show are received, then they'll go about bringing back avp.

It is Fox's fault both movies are set on present day Earth. Keeps the budget down
Speaking of budget wasting...they demanded a scene with the Predators hung upside down and skinned. The producers also felt audiences wouldn't know it was a hybrid unless it was born wearing Predator gear.

          >Keeps the budget down
          >build elaborate sets of an internal pyramid
would have been cheaper to film in a jungle with some foam buildings. avp and alien resurrection had the same budget, yet resurrection is set entirely aboard a ship and looks far more creative than avp.

Honestly, I liked it more than AVP, predators(2018), and alien resurrection. it's what you'd expect would happen if Alien landed, same with how it ends. they should rerelease an improved version or something though.

I watched Predator 1987 today, it’s the only one I’ve ever seen and it was great on a rewatch.

How well are the sequels? Is the 2018 one a reboot?

The degrade in quality in the order they were released. There is nothing resembling a sensible timeline passed the vs movies, so it might as well be.

2 is great, close to the original.
      Predators 2010 is good.

      > Is the 2018 one a reboot?
Not really. It's the worst by fricking far.
