its the whole point of the weyland/yutani meme. the aliens universe is one in which the japanese economic miracle never ended, and the planet was taken over by american and japanese mega corporations and became a mesh of american/japanese culture. there would occasionally be token black characters in roles like marines but 95% of the cast of every series was white and asian.

Prometheus is proof of stupid fricking Hollywood meddling. There was a really good draft for the script that was far more interesting and basically painted the engineers as enormous monsters that maintained a very mysterious and “alien” godlike presence, and the astronauts were basically tourists on this paradise planet of theirs. Makes me worried that Romulus isn’t going to be much more than a rehash of Alien.
Prometheus worsened the entirety of the Alien franchise and all media following it with the exception of Alien Isolation, so yes, I'd say so.
