Netflix didn’t make it. It was on max initially, and even then the creators are artists themselves and passionate about their work.

          Who makes all the robots?
If it's Aku's men, what is the practical purpose of giving robots quirky personalities?
What is the practical purpose of giving robots the capacity to feel pain?
Who makes the innocent civilian robots who get attacked by the evil Aku robots, like the ones in the mecha episode? Why do they feel pain, too?
Why do some robots reference cultures that never existed (Arabic-themed robots, French-themed robots, etc)? Did the world just de rlop roughly the same under Aku?

I could keep going and you could say none of this matters for the show. Which is fair, but if you're gonba overlook nonsense like that don't be a homosexual posturing about MUH WORLDBUILING RULES but conveniently making exceptions for stuff you watched as a kid. That is all.

Although I do think it's funny that instead of trying to defend your show you instead try to shitfling and deflect about another show no one else brought up because you know you can't defend it.

I haven't even seen it but the condescending comment about worldbuilding scratched my itch about pointing out people's hypocrisy about this shit. There are no real storytelling rules, everything can be excused under the right personal circumstances (usually "it made me feel really good").

Nah I already watched it on MAX as it released. By the second batch of 3 it fell off a cliff, by the last batch the animation was awful and the writing had become absolutely moronic. When the blonde dyke the moron and the bleeding heart showed up it was already irredeemably bad, but then it just became insufferable.

When Cinemaphile means "mature non-comedy animation", they mean "cartoons with flashy fights and females that make me coom". Not anything else.

Cinemaphile legitimately has terrible taste and doesn't actually enjoy mature animation, despite claiming to do so. They barely talk about Primal or Fritz The Cat, either.

Fritz the cat is older than most of Cinemaphile's parents and subject to furry deletions and Primal suffers from conclusionitis like all Genndy shows so the threads instantly devolve into shitposts about the ending or Ms Cinemaphile arguments

You say this but when it was coming out shills constantly REE’d at anons expecting “mature sophisticated animation” to have some sort of logic. In fact having any sort of standards in regard to this show was unacceptable for them.

Asking why the characters that had been surviving such a violent landscape for so long would act like children seeing snow for the first time was verboten. Pointing out the constant PIS was not allowed. Drawing attention to the bad voice acting, awkward dialogue, and dips in animation were tantamount to shitposting.

It’s certainly an ambitious project with a relatively interesting premise but the execution is just painful. It’s not good. The characters are universally unlikable. Sam was the only one who wasnt moronic and even he got fricked over in his flashback with kamen. The entire kamen storyline was excruciating, a show with half hour episodes shouldn’t make you want to fast forward entire segments. The Levi shit ended up being so goddamn moronic I couldn’t believe it.

Hollow, who was never named that in the show which was always a tell for shills calling it that, was one of the weakest antagonists I’ve ever seen, especially since none of its kind showed similar proclivities - just one of hundreds of inconsistencies.

The plotting was full of contrivances with the characters going through motions just to set up a status quo for a second season that, thankfully, doesn’t seem like it will ever happen.

By the time they randomly added a secondary villain in the blonde chick and the squealing moron it had jumped the shark multiple times. It’s as if they had no real clue what show they wanted to make.

Frankly it would have been better served as a 2 hour movie about Sam and Ursula with none of the other characters at all and ending with her entering the ship at the end never knowing if she revived everyone. Everything else was just nonsense and none of it 2s particularly entertaining.

People talked a ton about Primal while it was going. Didn't Fang almost win Ms Cinemaphile? The problem is just that there's not THAT much to actually talk about since it was a pretty straightforward show and, frankly, the end was kinda lackluster. And not lackluster in an interestingly disastrous way. It just fell flat, which weakens the impression it leaves on people.

Cinemaphile legitimately has terrible taste and doesn't actually enjoy mature animation, despite claiming to do so. They barely talk about Primal or Fritz The Cat, either.

Animation is by nature big and melodramatic and unrealistic. This makes it generally unsuited for stories that are small and serious and grounded. It's not that these stories cannot work, but simply that they do not take real advantage of the medium.

I think a great example of this is Carol at the end of the World. It tries to have serious and poignant and subtle emotional scenes, but the animation lacks the kind of small acting details that would actually let those scenes work.

I've been trying to watch it and I've just been getting more and more frustrated. I think I'm 6 episodes in and I actively dislike all of the characters. Meanwhile the writers/artists are trying to portray a totally alien ecosystem, but it doesn't feel like they have any sense for ecology, so it just seems nonsensical. And that would be fine if they weren't also going for some gritty realism. It's have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too world building. I don't know, I'm not finished yet, so maybe they reveal later on that the life on the planet was all bioengineered that explains why there's all these insanely overadapted creatures and some that seem to exist just to be tools.
