Both. All of society goes through conditioning regarding………but eventually through an increasing amount of life experience and bad moments with ……..do they realize the truth and stop pretending. It’s called “losing your faith” in the religious parlance. It happens to everyone

I only ask because as a rich white land barons daughter the character would have known to stay away but as an English liberal actress no amount of interaction would convince her that black people are simply incompatible with western civilization.

Honestly It’s cringe. If you understand burger politics, there’s not that many entertainment/shows for normal Americans, the kind who have skills-based jobs, operate farm land or mechanics that keep the country running and just want to turn on the tv and see something they agree with.
This show targets those people and says “true Americans ACTUALLY want their daughters to be gay, their sons to wear skirts, and their wives to sleep with other men, and kicking back with a bowl of hash is just what real men do now”. It’s an entire subversive film/tv genre now.

Maybe, but not really. The first season feels like it's trying to make a splash, things move fast and there's a lot of suspension of disbelief required.
But I liked it enough to try out the second season and it's a lot better, things slow down, get more grounded. But therein lies the problem too because by the end of S4 the crazy shit from the first season creeps back in and now that same suspension becomes completely moronic.

Season 1 also throes up this main conflict that's completely forgotten about later, that of the native reserve and their chief who wants to get the Yellowstone ranch for his people. I enjoyed the corporate plotline and Beth fighting it as dirty as possible, but in S4 this really isn't given any proper screentime at all, but it's still there and somehow integral so maybe it comes back around in S5 but then it's honestly just reheating coffee.

It's a dramatic show that oversteps it's plausability a lot, but has some characters worth investing in. I was a Jamie enjoyer but his plotline was complete dogshit in S4.
If you have a low bar like me, you'll enjoy it. If you're one of those overanalizers that can't enjoy schlock, this isn't for you.

Lee gets killed by Kayce's brother in law who he then proceeds to have a shootout with in the first episode. Season 1 episodes have shit going down every episode, Kayce's bodycount halves for the rest of the seasons until the assassination attempt from which it has sky rocketed.
Guy has a scuffle with Jimmy, Rip beats the shit out of him and has him "brought to the train station", just to show the viewer this is how they do it, again, to make that splash. That shit settled down considerably in S2 to make room for actual developments.

Story content isn’t a spoiler if it’s from two seasons ago you weirdo. The only thing Jamie has done is run for office against his fathers wishes. Can you list anything else? All the guy does is work for his family and all he does is get shit on for it. If I were him I’d go to the old lady at market equity and cut a deal. Then have the rest of the family arrested for the hundreds of capital crimes they’ve committed (including Beth and Kayce) watch all the shit kickers get the death penalty and retire a billionaire. I haven't seen Yellowstone, but I watched 1883 and it was fricking dogshit, historically inaccurate, American exceptionalism garbage.

Here in America, there's this weird mythology about the Oregon Trail that it was like a selection process that forged and hardened the American identity and only the strong survived. So in the show only like 5 people in this massive band survive the journey to the west.

All the Germans and foreigners are absolute babies who don't know how to swim, defend themselves, etc.

In reality 5-10% of people who went west died, but in the show it's like 98%. One funny bit is that the Americans in the pioneer band are written as tough because they fought in the Civil War, and the Europeans are weak and soft. Then at the end it's revealed that one of the few Germans who survives fought in the Franco-Prussian War, but for some reason he's still a soft beta b***h.

I'm American. It was dumb. The 16 year old girl who's the protagonist marries a Comanche guy she's known for probably a week, half way through (which would never happen).

I was hoping it would be an interesting historical piece (which is why I picked it up) but it seems to be terrible fan fiction for the show it spawned from.

To say this was actually America is to say that Red Dead Redemption's depiction of the west is accurate.

It’s awful. I cannot believe it gets all the praise that it gets. I only watched it because all my redneck boomer relatives encouraged me to do so. Probably the most overrated show I have ever watched. I can see how redneck boomers would like it, but the fact that it gets good reviews from critics just blows my mind

I hope so. I still haven't gotten around to watch it but Kevin Costner plus modern western is a goldmine as a concept. It's be a huge shame if they squandered it. And Kelly Reilly is an underrated actress and casting her as a female lead is never a bad idea.

I mean I worked with a guy who got hit center mass during a leadership exercise with the Marines in Japan. Someone accidentally loaded live rounds in the M50 so he got a three shot burst, one round hit center mass. Had a sucking chest wound and still survived. It fricked him up for life but the difference was experienced medics immediately came to his aid. Even then it was a lot of luck. Wasn’t Costner just alone on the side of the road for a while? No, you didn’t. Blast lung is not characterised by multiple pulmonary emboli, the injuries are varied but mostly stem from tearing of the lung tissue.
                > Blast lung is characterized by the clinical triad of apnea, bradycardia, and hypotension. Pulmonary injuries vary from scattered petechae to confluent hemorrhages.
Air-emboli can (and are probably likely to? Idk) occur, but can also occur in a patient subjected to an explosion without blast lung. Here’s an overview:

There's really only one question you need to answer to determine if you'll like the show or not? How much do you love or hate California? '1883' had the benefit of having a defined ending point. 'Yellowstone' is going to be stretched out for however long it keeps making Paramount money. The prequels are constrained by the world 'Yellowstone' has already created so the writers don't have to come up with ways of undoing something they did earlier just to keep the series going. Maybe if there was a '2098' series, that storyline could put constraints on 'Yellowstone' but lacking that, it's going to wander wherever the ratings take it.
I'm curious what '6666' is going to be like. We know Jimmy and his vet wife will star in it but not much beyond that has been revealed, at least not that I know about.

So would their spot in Idaho where they've been dumping bodies for decades really work? I mean even if it was a county with no residents (why would it be a county in the first place?) Surely there would be hunters and/or DNR that still use the area?

      Anonymous

The weird thing about that is the 'Welcome to Wyoming' sign is brand new and in pristine condition each time they go there. It's meant to be far off the beaten path, so why would that sign be in such good condition? In reality, they'd probably at most be an old geological survey monument from the 1950s or earlier if it's that remote. The road likewise is in pretty good condition.
That said, there are lots of places in the US where bodies go undiscovered for long periods of time, even within close proximity of regular human traffic. A steep ravine in a very arid rural area could easily go a century without anyone setting foot in it.

Eh. It’s technically impossible to prosecute felonies there. Doesn’t mean the courts wouldn’t just ignore the law and simply press on anyway though.

People act like that spot is singular in the nation, there are plenty of places that fall outside of local law enforcement jurisdiction, that’s where the federal government comes in, it’s not some magic murder loophole. In fact it’s pretty fricking amazing that Market Equities, or even the guy that got locked in the cattle gate hasn’t called in the FBI (which is what would have happened)

The Yellowstone Zone of Death is interesting because it's impossible to empanel a jury on any level, including federal. But they could still get you for conspiracy to commit murder in the state you came from but just not for the murder itself if it happens in the Zone of Death. IIRC, at least a couple of times, the murders happened in Montana and they just dumped the bodies at the train station, so that wouldn't get them out of the murder charges even if it was in the Zone of Death.

        Anonymous

Problem is that in the show, The Train Station is in Wyoming, not Idaho, so it can't be the Yellowstone Zone of Death.
