Honestly beans was the worst part of the film, but she was a necessary part of the narrative. Parts of this movie (spirit of the west etc) were some of the purest, through the looking glass, kino I have ever encountered.

It's a shame Clint didn't want to do the voice. Timothy Olyphant's voice is his weakest trait.

It really hit a lot more on true Grit for me at least. One of the themes of that being that, sometimes, people really do live up to the hype. Some of the legends were actually real.

Then at the end, we see the same in rango. The legends that today, we think of as myths, at least some were real, and as insane and heroic as we see in the films.

Beans had some moments. That scene where she and Rango are looking at the stars and she admits, "Who doesn't want to go someplace special" was genuinely evocative.

Rango premiered on March 2011. It was announced on February 2008 that Gore Verbinski was directing an animation movie for his first time.

the best thing about this film are it's character designs, I can still remember how very minor characters look years later
    >the old blind mole guy and his sons
    >the bird with an arrow through it's head
    >the little girl mole
    >the spikey lizard guy (I think he's the doctor)
    >the owl band
    All kino

    >Uh... so, what's your name?
    >Beans
    >That's a funny kind of name
    >What can I say, my daddy plum loved baked beans
    >Well, you're lucky he didn't plum love asparagus
    >What... what are you sayin'?
    >I mean, I enjoy a hearty puttanesca myself, but I'm not sure that the child would appreciate the moniker
    >My daddy was a fine man, even if he did exibit proclivity for legumes and...
    >Hm, spicey
    >You're eating his ashes!
    >Uh. You carry his remains?
    >No. His ashes. He loved to smoke. They never found the body
    >Well, l'm sure he had his reasons
    >What are you implying?
    >Nothing
    >My daddy was never near that mine shaft. He'd been sober for over a month

I enjoyed the 'nod' to Hunter Thompson at the beginning when Rango is getting bounced around on the highway and ends up on the Cadillacs windshield. I noticed that both he and Thompson are wearing the same hawaian shirt.
