Season 3 of Dexter in general felt very experimental. Like you had several mecha parody episodes, a ton of episodes where nothing happens at all and they just waste time. Either they were just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks or they ran out of money or both.

Is this the only Savino-era episode worth remembering?

Funfact: Gennady planned Mandark's parents to be hippies from the very beginning. They just never ended showing up until he left.

I might be forgetting something since I haven’t watched this show in years. But I don’t recall anything fetishy about this dude.

They all ran away sadly. Or if not they're all in the Drawthread General.

might as well ask in this thread
two stupid dogs and dexters lab seemed to take a lot of design inspiration from classic UPA shorts and classic HB cartoons
does this trace back to the success of ren and stimpy, or would it have happened regardless?

I'm not sure, but from what I know, they decided to go with the UPA style for budgetary reasons.

Most early Cartoon Cartoons were made by Hanna Barbera, considering Cartoon Network was literally founded as the 'HB rerun channel'. It makes sense that they would use the house style.

id argue that dexter takes more notes from UPA than classic HB, but for the sake of argument, HB had moved away from its own classic style except when they were rebooting classic properties. compare 2 stupid dogs with contemporary shows from the same studio: capitol critters, fish police, pirates of dark water, and swat kats

That was before they got retooled as 'CN Studios' in 1996. Compare their last independent stuff to what debuted on CN; Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Cow & Chicken, Billy & Mandy, and so on. When Cartoon Network debuted, it was almost exclusively HB stuff from prior to 1980, because that was specifically what Turner created the channel for. When they decided to make new cartoons, there was a deliberate attempt to keep the new stuff on-model with what was already airing on the channel.
