we will never have anything like this ever again

It was 1981. The year Heavy Metal was released. The year western animation PEAKED. I feel so demoralized

What do you think about Ralf Bakshi's work?

I love Bakshi’s films, he’s honestly inspired my art in many ways. One complaint I’d have about some of his films is that sometimes his films can tend to feel unfocused. Like sometimes he’ll have these random moments that add nothing to the plot and are just random non-sequiturs.

I wouldn't call rotoscope animation the peak of anything.

      Fritz the Cat

This movie also wasn't very good. It was the edge of the time period and didn't age well at all, it's more of an interesting time capsule.

age is a meaningless subjective criticism as it roots from a mindset that is attached to a zeitgeist matrix that will also change. you should be able to detach yourself from [current meta] in exchange for another meta

But this movie kind of sucks. Sleepy Beauty is the peak of western animation imo.

Animation was good, too bad it was for a commercial for a shitty video game esport.

What? Comics are shit because of political pandering in general.

Already have the autistic contrarian in the thread going "you just want sexy women". For one thing sexual appeal is a powerful part of our nature, so it makes sense that it would exist in our entertainment, it's scary that this has just been deemed wrong and practically removed from western mainstream media.

when AI assisted animation enters its peak, another golden age will manifest for western animation. indie home made animation will demolish the industry and people will be able to actualize their dreams without compromising their self interest for some dorky ideology meta

It's not just about the sexuality but its overall attitude. the certain creative sensibilities that didn't stem from a neurotic and overly-conscious mindset.
