I used to play the hell out of The Sims 3.
1-3 and a lot of the spinoffs are. 4 is a fricking trainwreck and 5 is shaping up to be a mobile game
3 is my favorite game of all time. the open world was a fantastic addition and i'd be playing it right now but there is an issue with the save files becoming too bloated and unreadable. there is no fix and never will be
i've had the same save going for years. run a save cleaner now and then and keep rotating saves ie twinbrook0 through 9

Didn't play 1, 2 was fantastic, the incessant in game ads for DLC and showing you greyed out options you can't purchase unless you buy said DLC made me hate 3.
Sims 4 is like Fallout 4, mod the living shit out of it and it's still a pretty good time.

The soundtrack is the only thing the Sims 1 has over the other games, it's worth importing or modding into the later games
Originally, no it wasn't. The Sims 1 was a stricter life sim and a parody of classic TV sitcoms aesthetics. The fact that nearly half the audience were women was a happy accident for Maxis and then EA took over the franchise

In the Sims 2 you could make people drink alcohol (removed from 3), so I had quite a few alcoholic Sims because I thought it was entertaining.
I feel 3 is a downgrade from 2. Everything is too perfect. I made a fat moron in sims 3, with a bunch of shitty traits, and no matter what my dude did he was successful. Dead end office job? Now you're the vp. Writing white supremacist incel manifestos? Boom rolling in simoleons as an independent author. Catch a cool bug? Here's another couple hundred simoleons.
I stopped playing when I realized the character I made to be a fat moron became more successful than I planned for.
