People don't go to the cinema unless it's a sequel or remake of something they know and like (while b***hing about how all movies are sequels and remakes), you have to be 50+ to remember The Fall Guy so the nostalgia audience is limited, there's some Goose fans who saw it, and your mother watched it for the romance, but other than that there's no audience. It'll probably do really well on streaming, but that won't be enough.

Shame too, it's my film of the year so far.

      Hey! Frick you!
But yeah, the idea of Ryan Gosling in Lee Majors role should have been kino. But when you read the cast list, you realize it has no connection to the popular tv show.

And then you see the preview. Idk what this movie is, but it's not "The Fall Guy".

I was a kid when the original tv show was on and I can't remember anyone talking about it or being a fan. It got five seasons so it must have had some type of following but maybe it was with older viewers who are now in the 60s and 70s? I wonder what shows were on other networks during its time slot.

This. Back when movies were $5 a ticket and were only an hour and a half long, that's when mid budget movies made sense.

Now that every fricking theatre thinks they're theme parks where they can charge you $30 for some popcorn and pop and movies themselves are $20 a ticket, why the FRICK would anyone go out for a movie that isn't guaranteed to be amazing? This kind of movie would only sell in an economy that was booming where people have a ton of disposable income. As things stand you have to be selling something pretty special to get me to leave the house, a movie version of a generic Saturday afternoon television show from the 80's isn't gonna do it, infact the connection probably harmed the movie more than helped it.
