    We've always known this.

    >Watch something as a kid
    >Think it's awesome
    >Become an adult
    >New entry in the franchise comes out
    >Oops, I'm old and bitter now, and this new thing is the worst ever because it does not live up to my impossible standards based solely on nostalgia for a children's product

Because you're a nerd who took what other nerds said about it as gospel. IE a sheep.

no they're just shit movies. If I was a sheep i'd be praising them since that's what everyone is doing now

You were probably just a poorgay who didn't get to go to Walmart and get the first licensed property Lego sets and lightsabers to play with your friends [outside]

I worked at a movie theater.
We got to see all the movies for free, before anyone else because projectionists liked doing test runs to check them anyway.
We were not allowed to see Phantom Menace.

A kids movie.... about government disputes over trade routes?

I never paid attention to all the politics as a kid. I thought the Jedi's were cool.

So to enjoy watching the prequels, you just have to... not pay attention! Wow!

It's almost as if the movies work on multiple levels. 6 year olds can understand
          >jedi go to help queen
          >jedi discover little boy with special abilities
          >little boy becomes trainee jedi

      They're family films. All Ages.

Funny considering ep1 and 2 are kiddie movies and then ep3 suddenly isn't. Guy has dementia.

Why do the manchild fans of this franchise get so defensive when people point out that its for kids?

Yes actually, it goes over their heads but that's what children think adults do all day. That provides contrast with the fun loving Anakin.

Nothing makes me kek more than angry Star Wars fans when Lucas says the films are for kids. They always get super defensive and you can just see their tomato red faces as the rush to point out how Star Wars isn't for kids. Newsflash Black person, Star Wars is a children's series. It's not for babies but it is for that 6-12 demographic. And like any kids movie yes there are adult parts in it too for adults to enjoy. Are you next going to try and say Marvel movies aren't for kids?

They desperately want the OT to be seen as sophisticated adult films, but even then they're too cowardly to praise ROTJ because muh Ewoks. It's pathetic.

Of course they're kids movies, but the sheer autismo around them is mind boggling. I like my fair share of kids movie, but they're obviously hollow once you attempt to watch them past the age of 16. Yet you have a generate of 20-somethings devoted to these films as if they're masterpieces.

The key to the originals is they were for 12 year olds and if 12 year-olds all like something then 8 year-olds and 15 year-olds will give it a chance. Then you have the parents taking the kids who are under 12 who also enjoyed it and told their single friends or older people in their lives about it. Only college aged kids would have missed out on Star Wars and even then there was some crossover.

It is though. 3 has all the important themes that George tries to communicate to the youngsters. And it ends on a very hopeful and uplifting note.

3 is the most kiddie with the constant shitty slapstick every other scene and the coughing robot villain who talks to the camera
