Were any of the pranks on scare tactics real?

We’re any of the pranks on scare tactics real?

Some are clearly fake, as in people openly wearing clip on mics for no reason when they’re apparently hired as a babysitter

But others seem way less staged and the reactions more natural.

    >people openly wearing clip on mics
    present your evidence
They usually had them wear "work vests" with the mic in them.
I believe it was all real.
Also, If I remember correctly, many of the same actors were in Prank Encounters and maybe even Punk'd.

Here’s one where some garden gnomes come to life to scare a babysitter

She just has a mic clipped on her shirt for some reason. If there was some backstory made up to explain why, they didn’t include it.

There’s other ones where either they got the audio from hidden mics or ones in work jackets like you said though. The ratman one is clearly real.

Also it’s just funny watching the older ones because they legit got away with so much more than they could today. I feel like legally the old ones would be on shaky ground if repeated today. As in they’d be sued for causing trauma because they think somebody was murdered etc (I know they signed w reality tv contract at some point weeks/months before hand but I doubt it really voids all potential lawsuits)

She told her she was giving her a walkie talkie (which is attached to the mic) because cell phones didn't work out in the country where they were. They always had some plausible reason for the mics.

It looks so cheap but it just works.

You only need them to believe it for like 30 seconds to a minute for a good reaction

Hell, the one with the aliens and the black guy was fricking hilarious. He punched one of the fake aliens in the face and that’s when he realised it was just a dude

Was it a super famous show or something? Seemed obscure even at the time. I’d still kick the monster in the face even if I’m told I’m on some show possibly

Even if they didn't know the show it's clear that they're being pranked at that point.
It was decently well known though.

The fact some of them acted like complete autists with blank expressions and monotone voices makes me believe they were real.

If they just hired actors to fake it all, they’d hire ones who would at least fake being scared better

E.g. here’s one with an autist woman who literally has one facial expression and sounds like a robot

I do find it cute that her first reaction to seeing the mentally ill autist bringing in the dead body of his mom was to cover the little girls eyes to protect her though

Here’s another good classic one. I swear all the older ones with poorer footage are better because they probably had less restrictions at that point and less people aware of how much reality tv could do

    >woman comes to volunteer at mental health ward to clean the floors for her resume or whatever, comes with her friend and boyfriend but they leave her early on
    >nurse says she needs to have her bag, phone, israeliteellery and will lock it in a secure place…
    >quickly becomes clear the nurse and doctor think she is a patient and act like she’s crazy and that her friend and boyfriend don’t exist, claim she was dropped off by her parents
    >when she tries to her the nurse she talked to earlier to explain the nurse acts like she doesn’t know what she’s talking about
    >genuinely starts freaking out

And it’s hilarious how her friend who helped set her up says it’s revenge for “her kidnapping me on my 17th birthday”. Jesus Christ Americans you like to prank hard lol

They were 100% real. At least the first few seasons

We know this because there’s at least one lawsuit over it, and she won. (I believe it’s why they made sure all future victims specifically got set up by a friend/family member or romantic partner, because then the liability is on them). In this one she literally got lied to by actors who told her they were going to a Hollywood party. Did the prank. And just hoped she’d be cool with it afterwards…

    >L.A. woman chased by fake alien sues reality show

    >Los Angeles (REUTERS) — Kara Blanc thought she was being chased by a space alien on her way to a posh Hollywood party and was terrified. But the alien turned out to be an actor in a monster suit, and the party was phony as well.

    >So now the Los Angeles grade school teacher and aspiring actress is fighting back, suing the new reality TV series “Scare Tactics,” claiming she suffered severe emotional damage, court papers said Tuesday.

    >Blanc sued the Sci-Fi Channel, the producers of “Scare Tactics” and two actors for scaring her so badly that she had to be hospitalized several times for what her lawsuit called “physical injuries” and “severe emotional distress.”

      >Blanc said she was a “nonconsenting and unwitting victim” of the hidden camera show with a science fiction twist.

      >According to Blanc’s lawsuit, actors Mathew Mertha and Travis Draft tricked her into being a participant in a “Scare Tactic” episode last March 1. The two actors told Blanc they were taking her to “an exclusive Hollywood industry party at a desert resort” near Los Angeles.

      >On the way to the resort, the car carrying the trio stalled on a remote desert road. Mertha and Draft “feigned that they were being seriously physically injured … or killed ” by a costumed “alien,” according to the lawsuit.

      >Mertha and Draft allegedly told a terrified Blanc to run into a “dark, desert canyon area” to escape.

      >Hidden cameras secretly recorded her reaction to the staged scenario.

          The woman’s name is Kara

Different pranks. They never aired the lawsuit one. Probably just re-used the costumes and set up for someone else so it wasn’t wasted

They call her it in the car… so unless she was faking her name for a show she didn’t know was going on for some reason, that would be weird

Also she was set up by her boyfriend in that video. The woman who sued wasn’t set up by people she knew. Just actors who tricked her

anon, that doesn't make any sense. If they were sued for one prank why would they try the exact same prank again with someone different? Like this anon said

            >Her name is Jessica
maybe they gave her a fake name for the show?

it was probably a fake name for the show.

Because the suit would be on the person who brought her into it if she wanted to sue, and most people aren’t gonna Sue their friend or boyfriend for that. unlike the woman who won who got tricked by randoms

Also I doubt she signed a waiver since they seemed to pick up the woman who sued pretty randomly.

              >If they were sued for one prank why would they try the exact same prank again with someone different
Because I don't think the aliens were the reason the woman sued. She would've sued them for any prank they pulled on her.

Some of the reactions were so wierd. Like it seems they might have deduced it's fake.

Like this one episode they essentially set it up as the guy was hired to bury a rug with a old man then "the mob" showed up and they "shot" the old guy and told the guy to bury him. The man just refused to do anything they said and just seemed kinda meh about it.
