>doesnt the film imply that they're super advanced robots?
it makes it quite clear they are looking for answers about their own past and that they are advanced mecha
Yeah, I thought the movie stated they were distant successors to the machines that were left behind after mankind went extinct, and that their goal was to try to bring back humanity because of some sort of deep love from giving them the chance to ultimately become sapient.
Teddy got a fricking raw deal in this movie. All the shit that he goes through sticking with David, even being the one to facilitate David's greatest wish coming true, and in the end all he gets is sitting on the end of the bed as David and the clone lie there dead. Frick this movie.
I don't give a shit about whether Teddy can empathise with David. David is a fricking monster that destroys everything in his path. Teddy should have just been allowed to stay with an actual human who appreciated him.
This was the cringiest shit I have ever seen in my entire life
Is this REALLY how Clockwork Orange/Fake Moonlanding dude envisioned it? Stan Lee Pubic or whatever his name was.
they were a trust fund band
None of the above. They were a visual effect, Dumas.

Teddy is incapable of fully empathizing with David.
I don't give a shit about whether Teddy can empathise with David. David is a fricking monster that destroys everything in his path. Teddy should have just been allowed to stay with an actual human who appreciated him.
they were the writer's barely-disguised need for therapy
This was the cringiest shit I have ever seen in my entire life
