WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Plot Leaks

>Homage to 1950s monster movies, filmed in black and white and with mainly practical effects, including the werewolf.
>Begins with an Alfred Hitchwiener / Rod Serling-esque narrator introducing the tale of “chills and thrills”.
>Jack Russell (Gael Garcia Bernal) flees from a bounty hunter in a forest. He manages to kill the bounty hunter and take his place at a gathering at Bloodstone Manor in Transylvania.
>Legendary monster Ulysses Bloodstone has died, and his widow Elisa Bloodstone (Harriet Samson Harris) has assembled a group of monster hunters to find Man-Thing, who was captured by Ulysses but escaped after stealing Ulysses’ secret weapon, the Bloodstone.
>Ulysses’ estranged daughter Elsa Bloodstone (Laura Donnelly), who disagrees with her mother’s actions, ends up being pulled into the maze where Man-Thing is hiding along with the other hunters.
>Jack and Elsa join forces for protection when the hunters begin killing each other for the reward offered by Elisa. Elsa deduces that Jack is not a real hunter and is there to save Man-Thing. Jack reveals that he transforms into a werewolf by night due to a family curse.
>Jack and Elsa find Man-Thing and retrieve the Bloodstone, which was causing him pain. The remaining hunters lock them in a crypt before Man-Thing then kills them, while Jack and Elsa escape with the help of the undead skeletons of Elsa’s ancestors.

    >Man-Thing reveals that Elisa used him to lure Jack into a trap. Elisa captures Jack, triggers his transformation and attempts to use the Bloodstone to control the werewolf against Elsa’s wishes.
    >The werewolf breaks free and fights Elisa’s followers. Elsa escapes and fights them as well. The werewolf attacks Elsa but spares Elsa because he recognizes her scent.
    >Elisa accuses Elsa of betraying her and attempts to kill her with the Bloodstone, but Man-Thing appears and throws Elisa off the rooftop to her death.
    >The werewolf escapes, and Elsa allows Man-Thing to go after him, then reclaims the Bloodstone, transforming the world from B&W to color.
    >In a post-credits scene, Jack awakens in a swamp, having been found and nursed by Man-Thing, whom he calls “Theo”. They decide to go out for sushi.

I recall some casting post on here describing Man-Thing as some sort of wise-cracking comic relief. They seriously better not go with R.L. Stine's take.

It was. Stine's mini-series, which I'd been excited for up until actually reading it, consisted of Man-Thing retaining his Ted Sallis persona in the muck monster body and is essentially a snarky quip machine who can't catch a break.

            >Hey, let's take one of the most endearing, and unique parts of Peter Parker's personality, and make every other character like that!

It really is super fricking annoying, and completely ruins MCU shit for me. They may as well CGI-graft Tobey Maguire's face onto every character they do this to.

If any of this is true, I'm looking forward to it more than any of their theatrical releases. Wanted to see something like this for years.

This is definitely the phase where Marvel decided to go a bit bonkers with their material.

if phase 4 gives birth to an accidental horror anthology series I would be both shocked and satisfied

I kmow jackshit about Werewolf By Night but of all phase 4 stuff this is probably the one thing im most weirdly excited. It's so out there (directorial debut of Michael Giancchino, the composer of The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and many other movies, there's a lack of fanservice and cameos, the black and white thing they have going) that it's actually really intriging. Hopping this turns out great.

Werewolf's good campy 70s horror fare. Give it a read if you get the chance. It got me back into comics and spread into all the other weird horror stuff Marvel was doing with Man-Thing, Ghost Rider, Spn of Satan, vampire Tales, Tomb of Dracula, and the like.

So.. Is there an explanation for how marvel wrote, casted, and then filmed this thing entire thing without a single announcement about it?

I'd go a far as ask "without a single set leak' but not even an announcement and it's ready to air in 3 months?

That's not marvel announcing it? I'm not sure how you saw me say "weird how marvel has announced every disney + release till 2023 yet somehow they haven't mentioned this thing releasing in three months" and you link something not by marvel posted a year ago?

Are you sure this isn't animated? Because again, 3 months. 100 days till this thing is meant to come out? Maybe it's a halloween special next year?

With a character this obscure, I think they may be making a mistake not having Moon Knight show up for an episode or so for cross-promotion. Not saying I think it will be bad, it could be fun to dive more into the dark mystical side of Marvel, but it may fly under the radar for a lot of people.

They keep promoting this special with the actor for Jack alongside an image of the new Native American werewolf who didn't seem to catch on at all.

has he even shown up outside of that mini he was in?

Not that I'm aware of. Hell, I never even heard anything about the series. However, when this special was announced someone wrote an article saying they should just use the new one specifically because Jack Russell is just a white guy and has a stupid pun name.

          >I never even heard anything about the series.
I read the series when it came out it was completely forgettable and not particularly well written only thing I remember from it is Red Wolf showed up and the Villian was just a Brain in a robot suit

I love Werewolf by Night, Midnight Sons, and Elsa Bloodstone, and this SOUNDS pretty OK on paper, but I'm VERY skeptical.

This may very well be the first Marvel movie I see since Antman 1.

Laura Donnelly better be red, and they better not go cheap on the practical werewolf.
