I want to gift it to my brother, we enjoyed that other ultramarine TPS switching between deaths and we're both fans of boomer shooters. I'd like to know how long a playthrough is but it's apparently too early to tell so I guess more than 10-20h.
>abhuman
If that’s true then why isn’t he using the abhuman child as a shield then? It’s the only good thing a mutant is good for. It’s the very least they could do for the crime of being born unpure.
Bringing back the Primarchs is the biggest fucking lore mistake. They are all, to a person, people who remember what it was like when the Emperor walked Terra. They remember what it was like before he was deified and his express wish was to NOT be seen as a God.
They were born and raised with a mindset that would inextricably be viewed as heresy in the current year. Everything they say, every memory they have of the Emperor, would be heresy. When the Primarchs sit down to be briefed by the High Lords of Terra, let's just presume the High Lords are aware of the history of the Imperium during the life of the Emperor, what the fuck would they say to one of his sons. "Look man we know it looks bad, but it was the only way, to take humanity down the path of crippling religious fanaticism and merciless fascism - basically everything Lorgar wanted. This is the legacy of Guilliman insistence on Codex-based uniformity. We just inherited it and managed it. Don't fucking get pissed at us we know it's a shitshow."

I want these Actual Bugs and the Squids that think life is just a Play for their gods so they all act like actors on a stage as factions, but GW are a bunch of fucking dumb asses.
>They were born and raised with a mindset that would inextricably be viewed as heresy in the current year. Everything they say, every memory they have of the Emperor, would be heresy.
Nonsense, especially with Khan
Khan is most flexible and least zealot primarch
What you just described is an extremely compelling dramatic scenario and indeed the best imperium-focused lit since Guillyman's return is focused on just that
You have to adapt to new times, Guilliman knows it, he himself planned and organized the assassination of the leader of the lords of Terra to replace him with a person chosen by him.
>Hope he.....be wiseful
He's more reasonable than any other 40k character up to date. Literally noblebright. Also can walk into the 9th Dimension and talk to the Emperor whenever he wants.
Also hes old.
Your only hope are the digital versions.
I've only started with Black Library (Cadian Blood, War of Secrets, now on Catachan Devil), but the books don't seem bad. What would you say changed the most between when you started reading and now?
Check out Bloodquest and the Malus Darkblade series (the latter is Warhammer Fantasy but it's great). I haven't read that much of the Boom! stuff so I'm not the person to ask about what changed but from what I have read, the newer stuff seems to have worse art and just less heart put into it. A lot of the people who worked on the Boom! were guys who mostly do licensed comics so maybe that's why and I'd expect the Marvel 40k comics to feel even more corporate.
You should check out the Iron Empires series too. Not 40k but it's pretty derivative while still having an interesting setting, being heavily worldbuilt, and paying more attention to strategy and tactics than I've ever seen a 40k comic do. Including having some strategy and tactics that take the uniqueness of the planet into account, it's pretty unique when it comes to American military sci fi comics. Painted too if you like that.
you can find all the oldies with ease on ebay/soulseek/torrent sites, altho those will obv not look good on yr shelf if yr the kind of person who worries about that. they do reprint old stuff quite a bit tho - maybe you'll get lucky
my main frustration is that there aren't audio versions of so much of the old stuff - would kill to be able to listen to Soul Drinkers while i paint or work out
For greater good!
I hope we can convert admech too.
I love the idea of mixed Auxiliaries from different factions of the Imperium instead of just the IG
The Imperium isn’t humanity.
The Imperium is a metaphysical parasite that needs humanity to survive.
The Imperiums biggest lie is that humanity needs it to survive.
You just remind me about how butt hurt I am that the machine cult is basically another imperium Faction now when there use to be a pretty good line that they just work close together.
The Imperium isn’t humanity.
The Imperium is a metaphysical parasite that needs humanity to survive.
The Imperiums biggest lie is that humanity needs it to survive.
People like you are the assholes who keep saying that the Tau should be able to convert Space Marines and get salty when that'll never happen.
Also, sure maybe the Imperium isn't all of humanity, but it's the vast, vast majority, and it's got human leadership, instead of the Tau being on top.
For greater good!
I hope we can convert admech too.
I love the idea of mixed Auxiliaries from different factions of the Imperium instead of just the IG
i like the idea of the tau sterilizing the galaxy of all chaos but it's a boring hellscape that's just spinning its wheels until the heat death of the universe
Yes and there's also the physical aspect of becoming a space marine in the first place. The majority of aspirants don't survive initiation into the chapters or can get seriously fucked up by the geneseed alone.
Emperor wanted as few variables as possible while having a still wide recruitment base that wont have much affect on the standard human populace. It wasn't easy making them in the first place, custodes are custom made and have to be taken as toddlers to undergo their process, Thunderwarriors where crazed and broke down easily and he could never make more than 20 and a half primarchs with help from the greatest scientists he could find in the world humanity left all their most advanced dark age bioweapons.
They're not even entirley physical, primarchs soul contributes to their prowess as their bodies, one chapter who with altered geneseed has supernaturally bad luck, there is psychic shit going on.
I think there was one line of models for some spinoff game made once and then never again. Eons of Battle in Youtube has a video on that, or someone else does.
Because the Emperor didn't want a race of superhumans who might try to form a breakaway civilization and abandon their responsibility to guard "baseline" humanity
they have not made a warhammer comic for a year now so probavly not
I would say that is a good thing. Think of modern day Marvel writers trying to write 40k. Just doesn't work as they would try to insert what is flavour of the month -isms on the setting, Today is transgender next will be something else and the writing would be gringy as fuck.
>I would say that is a good thing.
Ditto this. I don't trust Marvel writers to be capable of satire and 40k doesn't work without it, just like Judge Dredd.
DBZ Abridged should have been the writing on the wall. Toei was fine with Lanny and Kaiser doing fun little parodies, but once those gays started doing outright fanfiction that casted Goku as an abusive absentee father.
TTS was actually moving the 40k story forward with having Corvus and Vulcan heading to Terra. GS couldn't risk being outclassed and have their fiction dictated to them by an outsider.
>Goku as an abusive absentee father
But that's true, though.
Half of the problem with DBZ Abridged was that it WASN'T fanfiction, it was just saying the quiet part out loud.
To be honest, I started disliking TTS near the end of its run. The creator has a gigantic boner for the imperium and will absolutely not allow the other factions to do cool shit.
Im all for imperial propaganda but when random imperials start outsmarting tzeentch, mauling through the warp and the dark eldar get beaten at their own game, it starts to feel like Kaldor Draigo levels of fanboyism.
The Dark Eldar were being beaten by the star child, and even then they turned it around and it would've needed the intervention of a Primarch.
Who I'm still salty as fuck we didn't get to see do anything cool, goddammit, Khan is great just give me something.
Look, I know wh40k is about different factions in conflict, but let's face it, humans are the protagonists, well... space marines are the protagonists, but they're still humans.
>the emperor is canonically, in lore, directly stated to not only be alexander the great, but Jesus Christ himself >its not even a proxy anymore the imperium is literally just worshipping Jesus Christ
So he convinces humanity that his father isn't real and sends them down a path towards humanity extreme anguish and suffering? Sounds more like a certain fallen angel if you ask me.
Jesus Christ was the Emperor's larper name at the time, there's no biblical god in 40k, only a bunch of megasatans and alien cosmic gods.

You believe in kama? You'd better not. You think walking under a ladder is bad luck? you shouldn't. You have a lucky coin? You better put that with the rest of your money and forget about it.
And if you refuse, he'll have you killed
>Pointy ears
Why isn’t the Ultramarine crushing that xenos child? Even the salamanders know to kill as many eldar children as they can.
that's a dirty lie, ultramarines are straight as a board.
we are only in a temporary alliance with the eldar.
The Ultras had a half-Eldar Librarian. They know better.

what do you think of the new game?
another fucking ultramarine. like there's only one chapter in that universe.
What's your deal with the poster boys?
Floating skull dude > All these bulky boys
They arent 30k DA.
god modern GW art sucks
What?! but it's fantastic.
if you genuinely think so you are GW's new primary audience and I hope you have fun with it.
Look, I enjoy the dirty old GW art too, but this new art is good too.
cry about it.

It's amazing, as a lover of classic graphics it's refreshing, I'm sick of super realistic modern graphics.

I hear the blood angels can make Space Marines out of mutants does that include staple brands of abhumans?
In theory yes
>If that’s true then why isn’t he using the abhuman child as a shield then?
You're thinking of the black templars
Now they would be doing that
>You're thinking of the black templars
>Now they would be doing that
and don't doubt it.
Using a child as a shield would be extremely inefficient. Using her to pass him ammunition is a much better use of the emperor's valuable time.
Oh yes, he could cover a boot that way maybe. Putting them to work passing munitions from the box works and is probably more useful

Never understood why women can't be space marine's.
Aren't space marines bred from DNA from a primarch, which are all male?
Yes and there's also the physical aspect of becoming a space marine in the first place. The majority of aspirants don't survive initiation into the chapters or can get seriously fucked up by the geneseed alone.
