nice looking movie that despite having bran stoker in title shits on the novel completely missing the point by forcing a romanticized dracula looking for redemption
They definitely should have kept his name out of the title because it sure as shit isn't the story he wrote but I did enjoy it for what it was.
The greatest vampire movie ever made, unironically. Absolute fricking kino from beginning to end, and with a great score to boot. Plus nubile young breasts.
I wanted to disagree with this but I've been sitting here thinking and I can't name a better one.
True but it still incorporates more of the novel than other adaptations. I think this is the only one to show much less use all 3 of Mia's suitors? Still agree 100% on Dracula character. Also still think this film is 100% kino, flawed but great fun to watch and rewatch.
The problem with adapting Dracula is that the novel has a ton of fat that any halfway-competent writer would be inclined to cut to make as much space as possible for those characters and plot elements that are actually important. But the novel's lavish details are a core part of its identity, so simplifying it inherently takes away a lot of the Dracula-esque qualities. All stage and film adaptations have their weaknesses but for what it's worth I think the Coppola one gets closest to the essence of Dracula, even if it does add stuff.

Initially they wanted Depp but at the time Reaves was a bigger name, Depp would have been a million times better in the role he can do an English accent and actually emotes and his style would have fit in with the stylised aesthetic of the movie.
Yea this movie really suffered from meme Keanu and Winona was barely competent as well...felt like the movie would have been even better if it was just a straight up van Helsing movie with Hopkins and Oldman
one of the best opening scenes in film. set and costume design is great while gary oldman is entertaining enough to ignore the mostly awful everything else. i actually don't care that winona ryder can't act i'd still bang her today right now
I liked it.
A story about violation turned into a romance.
>IT IS NO LAFFING MATTAH

Totally agree. Shame Wonona never got them out in all their nubile perky glory.
Spot on, with nothing to add. Just pure kino.
Even the new Fright Night was better
And hot werewolf “rape.”
K I N O
How did they do the shadow with no digital effects?
Shine light on secret actor
amazing visuals, questionable writing
I love it when he turns into a pile of rats.
vampires and monica bellucci's and sadie frost's and winona ryder's breasts and shit
Bill and Ted crashing 18th century Transylvania
>18th century
Nah, that shit is primo Victorian era.
An awesome movie ruined by Ryder and Reeves who can't act for shit. This is where the "Keanu can't act" memes stemmed from.
Winona could act (she was great in The Age of Innocence), but was horrible as Mina. Great bouncing breasts aside, of course, because those were great.
Initially they wanted Depp but at the time Reaves was a bigger name, Depp would have been a million times better in the role he can do an English accent and actually emotes and his style would have fit in with the stylised aesthetic of the movie.
Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins were absolutely terrific, they fricking carried the entire movie.

kinda gay, with very uneven performances, but winona is sex as usual
I give it 3.5 stars out of 5
A visually lush, thoroughly entertaining movie. Annie Lennox - Love Song For A Vampire is a great song.
One of approximately four (4) truly great Fangpire kino
What are the others?
>Blade
>Dracula: Dead and Loving it
>The Lost Boys
Vampyr
Herzog's Nosferatu
Interview with the Vampire
Byzantium
Aside from the Lucy actor having incredible breasts and the staking scene the movie is a giant waste of time, and one of Nielsen's worst roles.
They filmed the vampire parts backwards to give it an otherworldly feeling.
What the FRICK did Coppola mean by this?
ginger legs are nice
So are khazar milkers
You should watch this instead. It's updated for the modern audience.

Dracula get ipad
Really great miniseries. What a shame it ended after the second episode and absolutely nothing whatsoever came after it.
Love at First Bite updated Dracula to late 70s NYC and is hilarious. Also I Love the Nigh Life was an inspired choice for meeting his love interest.
Peak of gothic horror aesthetic
*superiors in your path*

BLOODY WOOLVES CHASING ME THROUGH SOME BLUE INFERNOO
