It definitely lacks what Kubrick gave it to make it special. It's more like the other Stephen King adaptations like the 80's Pet Semetary movie.
Not bad, but not too great either.

you are such a middle of the road midwit homosexual, all anons like you ever say is "not bad not great either", don't give your opinion unless you have something real to say
I liked it. It's not great, but it's a neat dark fantasy movie. Probably one of the more faithful King "supernatural" adaptations at least in the kind of weird tone he usually does.
Reminded me a bit of watching Curse of the Black Pearl as a kid.
it's honestly not terrible but it suffers in comparison to the shining, especially in the third act
it's kinda moody and low key and has a nice atmosphere and rebecca ferguson is a cute
>Is it kino or is it just a pretentious shit to mimic the first one
both. when it sticks to the book it's kino, when it goes out of its way to be like "REMEMBER KUBRICK'S MOVIE???" it sucks
I'm saying he fails at humanizing the villains, i'm supposed to feel sorry child murdering vampires when one of their child murder friends dies, i'm to feel sorry for the devil when his pregnent wife suicides, i'm supposed to feel sorry for an evil spider clown that eats children is just protecting its eggs.
metaphor is interoperable, if you make a scene thats sad, you can't interpret the scene as being happy. when sad music starts to play and they give a close up worried look on the villains face, you are telling the audience what emotion you should feel.
It was from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson. Thompson made up the whole ‘the adrenal gland has to be ripped out of a living person’ nonsense. They’ve been able to chemically synthesize adrenochrome for decades.
I think it's more interesting if you've read the shitty book, because you can see how Flanagan ALMOST saves it but then fricks it all up with Kubrick worship and his own personal homosexualry.
It's decent. Probably the best scenes involve Danny battling his alcoholism and the issues relating to his childhood. That aspect is a great continuation of The Shining. But the supernatural stuff in the film lacks a lot of the vagueness that the Kubrick movie has.
Everything else is just okay to mediocre, Rebecca is an okay villain and the black kid they introduce is just forgettable.
It's surprisingly good until the final act where it goes full memberberries recreating EVERY SINGLE iconic scene of the original and completely falls apart.

I did not feel it on my first watch, meh average.
But it is a kino on the second watch as you no doubt know OP
It’s sloppy

Why dose King go out of his way to Humanize his villeins while making the the vilest things he can think of?
Maybe you should stick to watching wrestling.

You're not supposed to feel anything specific. Your interpretation and feeling about what transpired are your own.i

Movies are different to books in that respect. That doesn't mean you can't feel bad when the humans get btfo at the end of avatar
thinly veiled pedo movie
Black girl power
She is cute. And the serene van/rv life is juxtaposed with their sadistic life draining sacrifices.
It laid the premise for the reign wing conspiracy "adreamofchrome" and its quite hilarious how many qtards fell for it
that would be Monsters Inc or better yet Pinocchio you brainless twat
that scene with the baseball kid was p brutal
Speak like a real person.

It’s worth it just for the hat lady.
Better than Shining, which was more like the Boring.

ew. N alert
i liked it when the hat lady got shat on by the little nig but other than that it's eh if you are into little boys getting torture it is for you
I seem to be the only person I know that hated this movie
I enjoyed the book and The Shining is my favorite movie. Never watching it.
was worth a watch
not going to stand up to time like kubrick's but not bad either
7/10
would've been great if it wasn't for the mary sue niglet
It's kino. Not as kino as the Shining but it's still a really good sequel to a 40 year old movie.

It's pretty good, but it's not The Shining. Give it a shot.
It's surprisingly good until the final act where it goes full memberberries recreating EVERY SINGLE iconic scene of the original and completely falls apart.
I enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting to. I only watched it a couple of weeks ago.
Weirdly forgettable, but definitely kino.
Decent movie. Shame about having the WFBM shit but that's just been a requirement for American movies for a while now.
It's good. Watch the directors cut.
It was really shit unfortunately. Don't expect anything like The Shining
