Not that anon but my assumption is they wanted a film specifically about a Villian who tries and tries and tries finally winning and being an evil bad guy all the way through with Metro Man's defeat being the climax instead of the catalyst for Megamind's change into a hero himself.

If my assessment is correct than that anon is a fricking idiot.

Except the subversion is what makes Megamind great.
If they played it straight it would have just been an okay superhero parody film.

Which I mean, isn't bad but would have made the overall film more forgettable. You are the only person I've seen that wants that.

How is wanting to kill all’s es monsters different than wanting to kill all sharks

Well anon, in most fiction monsters typically do not occupy any ecological niche besides being a menace to humanity and do nothing useful.

monsters in myth don't normally represent actual animals, they're usually representative of something much more abstract but usually religious

why can't modern movie makers realize that?

                So, all animals then?

Unironically. Believe it or not, animals do not place intrinsic value on human life.

Science has confirmed that dogs and other form of pack animals with high social intelligence create bonds with others, including their owners. So wwhile yeah, 99% of most animals that have the brain cells to even have emotions beyond survival insticts and instict of ensuring the survival of their children, animals with hiearchial structures generally do have just enough brain cells to put intrinsic value on people they grew up with.
                >inb4 why do do some dogs kill hmmmm!?!?!
Same reason some autists go around and massacre other fellow humans in schools, or commit crimes or murder or rape.
Not every dog has the exact same brain dipshit.

You have to forgive that a lot of people haven't read anything on what qualities are necessary to be a candidate for domestication.

As demonstrated by the guy who thinks all animals have a identical indifference to the life of others.

Animals almost never kill without reason. Plus they're animals, they don't know any better.

Wolves are monsters, those things won't respect you why should you respect them?

Wolf is an awful example because overtime many wolves adapted to be less hostile around humans over generations to a point we literally starting taking some packs in.
You ever heard of a fricking dog?

Dogs were brow beaten to be less feral by civilized humans, they should be grateful we do that instead of killing them all.

Animals almost never kill without reason. Plus they're animals, they don't know any better.

            >Animals almost never kill without reason.

            >So, all animals then?
No, how the frick is a worm going to kill you?
            >Animals don't place intrinsic value on any life but their own, that's why most of them are monsters.

I said almost never, moron. Of course there are documented cases of animals killing for no clear reason. But most of the time they're acting in what they think is self-defense or self-preservation, and surprise, that's what was actually happening with sea beasts.

              Anonymous

              >No, how the frick is a worm going to kill you?
If you think worms haven't caused death then you're a fricking moron. What do you think a "monster" even is? Modern humans didn't invent the word. Monsters are just sufficiently powerful beasts.

                Anonymous

                >Monsters are just sufficiently powerful beasts.
This is the definition for me. We have tamed nature, there are few monsters left. The only remaining monsters are microscopic or serial killers.

Shit, when I go into the woods my friends and I are the monsters. Animals avoid us and we give them good notice to frick off. And if one decides not to we shoot it to death. We fear ticks and self-inflicted injuries more than anything.

Woah, dogs are just domesticated wolves? I didn't know that, thanks for enlightening me, dudebro.

Fricking brainlet. Yeah, dudebro. Obviously the reason that wolves were portrayed as monsters throughout the vast majority of human history is because nobody realized that they were basically genetically identical to wolves. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that wolves were a tangible threat to their continued existence. Yeah, it was totally that they just didn't get genetics and not that the modern view of animals is a luxury of a sterilized world. Yep, you're not anthropomorphizing anything at all. You have a totally well-reasoned and cultured understanding of man's relationship with animals

Is it just me or, if you want something with actual action where humans fight non human bad guys played straight, you eon't find it in the west?

Because if you were to go by western pop culture, humans are alway the vllains while the monsters are always the heroes, even when it's not warranted.

I don't think it's usually that common with actual non-human creatures, they didn't start dialing up that shit in this film for example until the cuter designs appeared. Generally speaking it seems they never stick to their guns when you have actual non-humans that really look inhuman.
