I told my friends that BvS was kino. And this was before the Ultimate Edition even came out. They just looked at me weird and said that I have all the wrong opinions on everything.
I work on a science field so i only interact with other weirdos at work.

>I've seen 4 of those movies but it's genuinely baffling for me that someone could have not even heard about either of them.
At this point I believe that just by that you already on the top 5% of movie watchers. Not a high bar, but crazy to think about, especially if you consider how acessible movies in general are. In just two hours a week you can watch some of the best stuff ever made in the medium
>how acessible movies in general are
I actually think this may be a part of the problem. Content is so widely accessible that people are flooded with stuff and just watch something which is known to them or hot at the moment. It's like with books, they are more accessible than ever but most people still read shit or nothing at all. >In just two hours a week you can watch some of the best stuff ever made in the medium
Theoretically yes but I don't like watching too many movies at once as they kinda blend into one for me then. I definitely prefer to watch one at a time and think about it for a bit.
>is Marathon Man kino
I think its relatively average out of everything I've seen; but an above average thriller from the 70's is basically a masterpiece in comparison to most things today.
>None of them are weird
I think Cloud Atlas was pretty weird but I don't remember much from it. >they think anything that is not marvel is cult
wtf?
I went to a party a few weeks ago on the pretense that I was going to be able to show a group of normies The Shining for the first time.
Little did I know, a bunch of other normies from the neighborhood arrived, and it got ungodly packed.
Two mexican freshmen said that The Shining was shit because it was slow and told the group that Insidious 2 was better.
I left the party early because Insidious 2 sucks, and I thoroughly enjoyed rewatching The Shining by myself. >inb4 "they were actually based!!!"
Why the hell show any movie at party? >"they were actually based!!!"

I can sort of agree with them, in a way. I've discovered that my attention span has gone to shit, so many movies (especially longer ones) feel boring and slow when I watch them for the first time. Only watching them again, I can start to appreciate slower pacing, atmosphere, good writing, the visuals etc. Maybe because on a rewatch, as I already know what happens, I can actually start to appreciate the finer details and not be stressing about following the plot and being 100% attentive the entire time. It's a more relaxed, enjoyable experience.
If following the plot cannot hold your attention, that's pretty weird.
I have patrician friends who don't know are patrician and watch whatever I tell them to watch because they think I know better when it come to movies. Usually there's not much discussion about movies other than saying which scenes they liked or how they perceived a character to be dumb, to be correct, to be manly, etc. I also met a girl who valued my opinion on movies, she was into shoegaze and into Kar Wai movies. Kinda regret not having the balls to make a move on her at the time.

They think that I'm a film connoisseur just because I have watched movies other than whatever plays on cinemas/tv and top imdb movies.
Truth is I'm a pleb but hey, I enjoy the attention.
Not obscure, just not something that is immediately recognisable to the average normie who only watches netflix after work and goes to the cinema once per one or two months to watch a rom com/horror flick/disney or pixar shit/ star wars/ capeshit.
An example was Angel Heart. As I said, I am a pleb but people nowadays gave absolutely no idea about movies. The Wailing is also extremely effective if you can actually manage to get someone to watch it. Doubly fun if you then also explain how it's a deeply Christian movie and then they feel dirty for liking it.
I think I've been kind of lucky in that I mostly have good conversations about shit like movies but my current co workers are legitimately only interested in Disney. My boss has been to Disney Land like 4 times because she says she loves it so much.

Thank god GoT isn’t popular anymore, it used to be as bad as marvel when it came to unsolicited conversations.
There was also the memorable time when I finally found someone who knew my favorite movie (Koreeda’s After Life) just for her to say it was boring and shit and then declare that her favorite movie was the fucking Lion King live action remake.
>Koreeda’s After Life
Never seen it, maybe I'll try it. >fucking Lion King live action remake

I work with this guy who's a nuwars fag and his justification for them being good is they made lots of money. I tried explaining to him that the name Star Wars will get a movie at least half a billion dollars by itself but he just doesn't seem to understand. He genuinely thinks Rey is an amazing character. I asked him what her character arc was and it was just "she starts off a loser and becomes a Jedi".
Idk I just don't talk about movies with most people any more because I'm pretty sure most people watch movies for some eye candy whether that's CGI or hot actresses.

Yes. He wears the shirts and has mandolorian pins on his bags and stickers on his laptop etc. He always has on at least one piece of star wars related clothing or accessory. Unironic consoomer.
No one ever knows the films I list (they aren't even obscure) so they all think I'm a film expert; which usually ends up with them asking to name who an actor is or what he or she has been in. The only time my "taste" has ever been brought up in discussion was at a dinner party where everyone gushed over the Last Skywalker and me saying it sucked. >Well anon is a bit of a film snob so it makes sense he wouldn't like it

>Joker >TDKR
Kek. Wonder what they would say about the actual Joker.
Baffling. I've met one who really loved nu-Star Wars, even the last Rise of Skywalker which is almost objectively a bad film. He's a boomer in his 50s.
Another in his 40s loves nu-Trek and really enjoyed Picard.
Both are otherwise intelligent and work in skilled jobs, and both are big fans of those franchises from their prime eras.

I exclusively talk about how comic book movies show a lot of male skin and have zero female skin.
I liken it to a restaurant where women wear suits & ties and men wear soft, clingy dresses that show lots of skin.
After everyone is alienated I go back to work laughing to myself how they're all a bunch of homosexuals
My experiences and reactions from coworkers and the like are really fucking good because I typically lie or distort the truth when talking about my tastes or when theyre discussing some new popular movie/show.

>every single person quoted something on the imdb top 10 list
I actually checked what they are. At least they are good point to start.
I default to just talking about 90s blockbusters. They're not generally that great, but it's common ground with most people over the age of 30.
Interacting with zoomers is just pure hell, though. All they know is capeshit garbage.

That's sad.
I work with a lot of zoomers and they legitimately don't watch any movies that came out before the 2000s and even that is pushing it.
It's very weird for me that those people didn't watch movies from 90s that I watched in my childhood.
They definitely talk shit about how crazy you sound even though you're right. This world is gay
My coworker said Who Framed Roger Rabbit was too sexual
What age?
I still make pillow forts. Am I wierd?
No, based.
So, how you and your fellow zoomers perceive oldfags and older kino?
18 y/o zoomer born in 2003 ask me anything about television and film and how me and my fellow zoomers percieve oldfags and older kino
My experiences and reactions from coworkers and the like are really fucking good because I typically lie or distort the truth when talking about my tastes or when theyre discussing some new popular movie/show.
I refuse to discuss arts with dilettanti.
