I can't believe normies consume this garbage year in year out. There hasn't been a single good movie in decades.

wolf of wall street was the last good one. that was a decade ago and felt like as though it had been made a decade before that.

It's not about about the ranking but the ratio between earnings and costs. The Box Office need to be at least 2.5 times higher than the production budget for the movie to break even.

Oppenheimer, Barbie, Mario and Spiderman with their 100M budgets were fine to begin with. All the others with their bloated production costs... only GotG3 reached profitability.

How much money does a movie cost these days if earning ~500-~800 million is a "bomb".

Some movies after marketing these days cost half a billion dollars.

What the frick familia bros, you told me that Fast X bombed and that our boy Zesty Momoa tanked the franchise?

      Anonymous

It bombed because of how much they spent. And it's even worse for that lovie because it was a flop in the US while a success in China: except in the US the Studio gets 50% of the box office, while in China it's only 25%.

FnF is the franchise where Vin hires all his friends and gives them massive salaries. I don't think much is left for the actual budget of the movie, which is why they all look like complete shit

Chuds have been seething about at least half the list, including the two that passed a billy, and are not desperately performing mental gymnastics to try to make it seem that they actually like the films (but being mentally moronic children said mental gymnastics is literally just "no u", the equivalent of a shitty cartwheel that results in a faceplant)

Top 400 richest families have hoarded enough wealth to where it's negatively impacting the rest of the economic system and therefore preventing larger and larger #'s of people from achieving normal life milestones such as marriage > house > children > investing > retirement.
This prevents entire cohorts from emotionally maturing past infantile bullshit and thus we're stuck with entire generations manchildren and directionless prostitutes.
Said 400 families will continue to exploit the situation until enough people are desperate enough to kill at which point there will be enough violence in enough places to mature said manchildren to the point of competency.
We'll see which side's manchildren will win out, but something tells me the side with money will keep winning, forever.

this would be a good year, if they actually made films with proper budgets, not the monster oversized ones they use now. ironic that most of those films will technically not make money as they cost far too much to produce (plus market).

as for the films at 1 and 2, it is not a positive sign, we just replacing one series of franchises with two new ones starting up. the rot in modern big budget cinema is still lingering.

if you pay for this shit, its your fault

People want new things I guess? I mean Mario and Barbie are well known products everyone knew what those are so movies of them will sell themselves. Guardians 3 had good word of mouth and the Guardians concept hadn’t been run into the ground as much as most other comic book characters so people were willing to watch a part 3

Spend less money making the movie and put more money into smart advertising. Barbenheimer was genius and both those movies are profitable while big tentpole movies that should be profitable like Antman aren't because of how much money they spent making it. Also be smarter with when you release your movie, a bad release schedule can really hurt what should be a more profitable movie (looking at you Tom Cruise).

It occurred to me this year that video game movie and TV adaptations will probably be worse than comic book movies at least with comic book movies you once in a while get something like the dark knight and I can’t think of many video games that could translate into something as good as that
