One thing is for sure, we'll see a shit ton more feminist led propaganda now. They've been trying to crack the code on it for a while, and this is probably the first one that was a huge success.

      Anonymous

The feminist messaging seems to be intentionally kept down lo on the marketing so they definitely know that audiences dont care for that aspect of it. So perhaps the code they discovered is that they can shoehorn as much rhetoric into their movie as long as they essentially lie what the movie is about pre-release

That a woman could make a really good comedy movie with a feminist message and make a billion?

Contrary to popular belief, the general public is interested in seeing new concepts on the movie screen. People are tired of formulaic capeshit movies.

Unfortunately, Hollywood will misinterpret this success by shitting out dozens of toy-based movies until people get bored of them

      Anonymous

Essentially this. Capeshit fatigue is the main reason why top gun Mavericks was a huge succesa despite it being another sequel to some property from the 80s/90s...I dont know for sure how Mi7 underperformed, perhaps because it had the number 7 in its name.

You have to trick the audience and not market the flim as a feminist misandrist propaganda.

    Its that simple

    Ghosbusters
    Charlies Angels
    Birds of Prey

Were all dead on arrival cause they were propmoted and marketed asa feminist movie.

100% this is what's going to happen. Barbie just so happened to have fallen into the right hands at the right time, which is great, but if Mattel doesn't become Disney 2 I'll be shocked.

Okay, then I'm making a pitch right here in this thread so we can keep this train going:
        >Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal
        >Directed by: Villeneuve
        >Setting: Dieselpunk
        >An up-and-coming gang of drivers have taken the nation by storm winning race after race. [Jake], a veteran racer, runs into one of them fixing the race in their favor and accuses them to the governing body. However, he has no proof other than his own witness account. Word against word, it's up to [Jake] to uncover a conspiracy that goes deeper than he ever could have imagined, but can he do so before the group wins the Hot Wheels Cup? This is one race he'll never forget.

    women will buy anything pink

      Anonymous

This. Remember 10-20 years ago back when feminists absolutely hated Barbie because all her stuff is pink and her legs are too long and her boobs are too big? I guess they decided that was a losing battle, and this movie is an attempt to "reclaim" her.

        Anonymous

Genuine question: Why wouldn't women want her changed now? Barbie was supposed to change with the times. That was her marketing, right? At first she was doing hot chick stuff and being a woman of her time, then she slowly gained a PhD in every career, but the time look never really changed. There've been Barbies of every color, but they were all hot. In the movie they even put the joke in that the one time they made a pregnant one, it was cancelled. Hell it should be the same for Ken -- why are all Kens glory muscles? Where's my bearmode Kens? What about average jogs a bit and lifts only when he has a date mode Kens? At least twinks got Allan. Same thing, bro. They're just demanding it, which men have never really done. Closed mouths don't get fed. Good for them.

There's a civil war in womanhood, the stacies vs the wokes. The movie was objectively good and it's message is that men suffer too and it's okay to be ordinary. Most of those wokeflops Disney is trying to bankrupt itself with are about women being perfect mary sue warriors and queens. Stacies don't like that, they feel like they have enough responsability as it is. Barbie pandered to actual women and not the deranged ideal dream of pink aired gargantosexual pronouns "people", easiest billion ever

Clever scripts, beautiful leads, clever positive marketing works.
