It’s a movie about the feelings of loneliness, isolation and inadequacy middle aged men with mediocre careers feel in an office setting.
Thematically it’s close to BR2049, Joker, and OUATIH.
In terms of pace, it’s more reminiscent of Sexy Beast.
The story is very straight forward. What makes it enjoyable are the performances.
I saw this last night and it’s superb.
The character who played his boss stole the movie.
His lugubrious and sickly appearance was perfect and set the tone well.
To the very end I wasn’t sure if he could really physically get inside true room or not.
I thought Gadon would be his accomplice but I liked the direction they took it in.
More emblematic of office life and it’s dysfunction.
This and The Menu have been the most interesting and original movies of the year so far.
Same. And it’s the critics that are panning it.
I get that it’s a bit slow for audiences but I was very surprised to see such a one-sided critical reaction.
8/10 is about right. Gadon, Hamm and (especially) Heyerdahl put in really good performances.
They all manage to maintain the surreal weirdness of the office setting
when reception girl complimented his work I thought they are going to pull Joker with a fake gf, I was wrong but it saved me a heartbreak when the room scene with here was revealed to be fake
Hamm demands to be allowed to use the room so his boss checks with the never-seem EVP.
The EVP decides to fire Hamm who gives a Jerry McGuire speech while cleaning his desk out before leaving with security.
When he arrives to his car, he tackles security and runs back to the corner office and locks himself inside.
You see from everyone else’s point of view that he’s just staring at a wall
What was the lesson of the movie?
That office culture stifles individuality even at the expense of productivity?
The autist did his best work when he was left to his own devices but his weirdness made the office roasties uncomfortable so they canned him.
I think I understand why ~~*critics*~~ didn’t like this movie.
The moral of the story is quite clear. The room is real, even if it's in his head, the fact remains within it he is more efficient and happy. It explores what actually IS a space, does it have to be physical? Aren't all things we perceive simply electrical signals being sent to our brain? Yet we place more value on those electrical signals than the signals we create with our own soul.
I'd say the film says things the writer probably didn't even want. There was an intent to paint the MC as insane, when really he is the only same one.
The room represents happiness and the human soul flickering like a beautiful light within an ocean of darkness, the normies who keep staring at him when he is in his room are just people are have become one with the physical word and have let their astral self wilt like a flower.
Tldr: don't take your meds, don't care for the opinions of the normies. The room exists. He should have simply requested to have later working hours so he can get in his room quicker.

Sarah Gadon is youthful as ever.
Sarah Gadon is so graceful and elegant.
>Sarah Gadon is so graceful and elegant.
She is actually a trained ballet dancer.
Jon Hamm is so lucky he got to dance with Sarah Gadon and kiss her.
Anon, she looks gaunt. She clearly went back for a double treatment of Weinstein-advised buccal fat removal

>What was your guys favorite Sarah Gadon scene?
The Christmas party or the dance scene
Why does no one ever remember her? Is she a Silence from Doctor Who?
Everyone remembers Sarah Gadon. She's very captivating in all her performances
Canadian actress Sarah Gadon is both beloved and acclaimed.
The ending made me sad.
Is this a meme about speaking like a contrarian robot?
the lost one
It's weird to make an office centric movie when Covid killed that lifestyle and we all work from home in bed now.
so when did she win you over?
fat
Besides Sarah Gadon, is it worth watching? Has anyone seen it? Can we have an actual discussion about a new movie on Cinemaphile - Television & Film?
It is absolutely worth watching. One of my favorite kinos of the year so far.
I hope Sarah Gadon dies in real life so Gadonhomosexual will eventually shut up and khs. Very annoying indeed.

I was pretty impressed with it. Shocked when I looked up the rating of 4/10 or thereabouts.
I would give it a solid 8/10.

>quirky movie about a dystopian workplace with wierdo shit to discover

I find it meh, kinda empty, but I like some moments especially the ending
when reception girl complimented his work I thought they are going to pull Joker with a fake gf, I was wrong but it saved me a heartbreak when the room scene with here was revealed to be fake
moral of the story? don't listen to glowies and do not take your meds

Looks like a bad Severance ripoff released way to late to capitalize on its popularity.
