What is it about Wonder Man designs that are so throughly uninspired? I feel like there's atleast several female counterpart designs for Superman and Batman.

Because when designing male costumes artists are too afraid of them looking gay, so they end up being covered from head to toe. DC did better with Olympian/Achilles from mid 00s Wonder Woman because they let him dress like a prostitute.
There used to be a lot more male outfits that showed skin and characters who had them that still show up got redesigned to not show skin anymore. Robin being a big one, Garth recently with Mora's redesign, and Obsidian after the Infinity Inc ended.
I think the "bara" body type is how he should look like but the costume never had a chance because it was a meme episode about a mirror universe. Wonder Man should be like the soldiers of 300 (or Conan). Half naked or more all the time. Not even a gay.
