Also they literally destroyed RT's credibility for Star Wars on the excuse of "review bombings by racist internet trolls."

Episode IX had a frozen user score, it's actually much lower. They want what George era Lucasfilm used to give them.

I don’t know what you’re trying to say. I’m not saying ITS A CONSPIRACY, but the numbers don’t lie. Are you gonna deny that the RT score for TROS is fricked?

          Anonymous

No moron. The score for book of boring-fatt should be less than 20%. That score is very definitely fricked with.

            Anonymous

Why not make it fresh if they're gonna frick with it, like they did for TROS?

They did. That's the reviewer score. It doesn't work that way for the audience score.

First thing they do, ignore any half or zero stars. So giving it one star is actually bringing the score down, giving it less than that has no effect. It also means the minimum score is now 20%, ergo 20% means the highest score was 1 star and not a single person gave it more than that.
Then you overweight the 3s and 4s, which are now the theoretical average votes. So while most people give it 5 stars or 1 star, the few people who give it something in between are treated as half the average, and the 1s and 5s are treated as the other half, even though that's not the case.

What this means is that half the votes that count are voting on whether it's 20% or 100%, and so if it's shit half the average is just 20%, and the remaining half will give an actual average in between 60 and 80%.

              (60+20)/2 = 40
so the soft minimum if something is absolute garbage is 40%. The only way to get below 40% would be if absolutely everyone gave it either 1 or 1.5 stars.

They act like statistics isn't taught in most degrees now.

          You don’t understand.
Rise of Skywalker is the final movie in the Saga.

If it had a bad critic AND audience score, it would look bad for Disney.

So Disney called in a favor from RT (one of the higher-ups was a former Disney CEO) and had the audience score from so the damage wouldn’t be as bad.

It is easier to rig movie scores when they are in theaters.

Because after Captain Marvel, Rotten Tomatoes made it so you had to show a ticket stub ID to prove you saw a movie.

But with streaming movies, anyone can leave a review since the movie is available online and anyone can see them.

Reminder that Rotten Tomatoes algorithm is objectively cancer. They literally give ~100% if all give >50% so you have no clue if something is 51% or 100% actually.

At least use imdb; nothing is a guarantee but at least it's a saner algorithm; also filter it to have at least 100 voters because sometimes the crew inflates it.

Yes, RT has the worst rating system possible. The fact that zoomers take it seriously as some kind of authority on the quality of media is beyond pathetic. According to this website your average capeshit flick is better than 2001 A Space Odyssey, Mulholland Drive, The Tree of Life, Synecdoche New York and In the Mood for Love. It's beyond embarassing.

Releasing these shows weekly is seriously hurting them. You've got people who have prejudged it, and people who are reserving judgement (because they can see that Lucasfilms is at least trying to reform after nu-Wars) but only one of those groups has anything to say yet. So they're dominating the conversation.

So far all I can say is that it doesn't annoy me as much as I thought it would and it does kinda feel like Star Wars. But I have to see the whole thing before I'm going to take a position in defence of it.
