What are you talking about? Rodney's arc was by far one of the better ones in the whole show. Especially when you take it with his appearances in SG1. He goes from being a genuine butthole to someone who gives a shit under the butthole facade he maintains.

I liked Rodney a lot as a character, and what you said about his arc is right. But by the later seasons of Atlantis the writers were shitting their pants and they used him (and his sister) as a crutch. It became grating. The episode where he embarrasses the meme TV scientists at the gala on Earth is one of the worst of the series just for how on the nose it is and how much it diminishes the stakes of the show.

I'll agree with you on that one, it wasn't their best, along with the rest of season 5. Like with SG1 peaking at season 7 with Anubis, Atlantis peaked at season 4 with the Lantean replicators.

It did become the Rodney fixes everything show but he was far from the worst character tbh
My controversial opinion is that SG1 dropped off in quality as it went on because they let RDA say whatever he wanted instead of giving him actual lines.
That's not controversial, he phoned it in the last few seasons he was in. They even allude to it in 200. The actor that should have been sacked and never returned was Shanks though, Jonasbros nevar forget!
