However Flash for like half a century now has been more than a stock butthole and portrayed as a more nuanced guy who could be a dick but at times always believed either he was Pete's friend or that it was a mutual rivalry.

To be fair, wha tlittle is shown of Amazing Flash is a lot closer to the actual comics in that he demonstrated being a Spidey Fanboy ontop of having some emotional depth.

Flash isn't really a bully, he more a guy who was an butthole to another guy who an butthole aka Peter, I guess they change it to make Peter more likeable.
