Anyone who has a significant portion of their favorite films taken up by 80s movies probably hasn’t seen enough films

        The Flowers Of St. Francis
        Vertigo
        Man With A Movie Camera
        Sunrise
        A Man For All Seasons

        or just likes the 80s?????

which is a sign that they haven’t seen enough films
if they have seen plenty of films then their taste might just be pedestrian, which I think is the more likely case for Snyder
        as you can see here

RoboCop is greatest movie ever made.

road warrior, clockwork orange, blue velvet and robocop are all legitimately top tier movies. anyone calling them pleb or reddit is just a seething moron. they probably wouldn't be my specific choices but he's on the right track.

whats bad about the movies on the list? theyre all really good movies

            Thank you, what are yours?

All those five films are quite good, and i enjoy watching them and appreciate them what they've done for cinema.
But if i'd have to revisit a film, i would watch Robocop over any of those.

Why? Because it is “le fun”? If I had to revisit a film (I usually never watch a film more than once unless I’m watching it with someone else) it would be something superb, not some “le wow movies in the 80s were so good amirite fellow dads?” low-brow garbage
at least pick something from the 80s that has legitimate depth rather than Verhoeven’s commie crap
Also you might just be lying if you said you’ve seen those films but would rather watch robocop
what’s next, “Threads is the scariest movie of all time”? “Women will never understand what Gladiator is about”?

I’ve heard this well-poisoning shit before. It’s a thought terminating cliche at best.
I understand why you enjoy those movies. I know because I used to enjoy those movies for the same reason you did.
However, I no longer enjoy those movies. I realized that this is because I did not understand the greatest purpose of art. When the purpose is to be commie crap, like Verhoeven’s work, the art is sullied, it is lower.
When you understand that the highest purpose of art is to inspire the ascent of the will towards the divine, you will understand why you are a currently a pedestrian; or were, if you, hopefully, begin to appreciate art.

              >hardcore projection
Ironic when your entire criticism is based on who you think I am. I know who I am. You have presented no evidence or personal experience with which to logically conclude in your arguments. I on the other hand, have. I know who you are, pedestrian.

What is it about Vertigo that you see as not being pedestrian? As far as I can tell, Hitchwiener just made somewhat above-average crowd-pleasing thrillers, he didn't make any sort of towering masterpieces of cinema.

Hitchwiener is a master on the technical level as well as on the psychological level. I did not appreciate this until I was older (I first saw his films when I was very young).

It explains a lot about his moopies, actually. They lack the depth he thinks he's conveying, and even then I'm quite certain he tries to limit himself so that the audience gets his allusions.

That's actually quite pathetic and I think he should retire from filmmaking altogether.
