Zombie simpsons began to root in S12 or 13 and fully became a zombie after a movie(it was mediocre to bad in the 00s but not shit)

No, it was happening earlier than that. Season 7 and 8 had glimpses of Zombie Simpsons despite being great throughout, 9 - 11 is when the wackiness and guest appearances started getting out of hand. By season 12 it's mostly unwatchable.

This tracks. Season 8 was the last really solid season. Looking back at the episode lists for 9-12, I can see a few episodes I like in each season but none are classics. And the rest are duds or ones I barely remember.

I've seen a couple episodes from 13 and 14 but apparently I stopped watching entirely after that.

Zombie Simpsons began in Season 11. Seasons 9-10 were mediocre, but there were still some gems. Season 11 was when it became shit, despite le funny farmer meme.

Season 11 intoduced Sneed and Chuck. It's not zombie by any stretch of the imagination.

Introducing that cancerous meme alone makes it zombie.

Zombie Simpsons began in 1998, the same year when Phil Hartman died.

    Going by the IMDB ratings:
    >season 8 is when it stopped being great
    >middle of season 10 is where it stopped being good

Season 9-12 is still good and some.chapter better than S8, I could understand not liking S11, tho.

Season 8 had lots of amazing episodes. I only just found out that You Only Move Twice was in it, I thought it came earlier.

There were a couple of real stinkers though, like "The Twisted World of Marge Simpson" (the one where Marge starts a falafel business and gets help from the Mafia).

That enough to make one good season.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if this was season 9, instead of what we got. Would it be considered part of classic Simpsons?

It's still really good. I put it off from rewatch cause I was convinced 3-8 were only worth watching. You should stop watching midway thru 10 or stop at 9.

Looking at the list of season 12 episodes, there are things that I remember laughing at in each of those episodes, but the overall quality is still down.
That said, season 11's Behind the Laughter would have been a natural ending for the series.

even season 8 has shitty weird episodes like when marge starts making pretzels, or the lassie/mary poppins parodies

The Lassie episode (The Canine Mutiny) is really weird. It seems more like a season 12 episode, whenever I re-watch it always sticks out in season 8. It just doesn't have the vibe or premise of a season 8 episode.

Season 8 was a good season, but it's when the cracks were starting to show. It's also when the season with the Poochie episode, which feels like a commentary on the state of the show itself. I think Season 8 should have been the last season, even though Seasons 9-10 did have some good episodes.

          >even though Seasons 9-10

Imo the distinction between 9-10 and 11-12 is artificial. Other than a few holdover episodes at the start of 9 they were all had Scully as showrunner. Think of an episode like Skinner's Sense of Snow from 12, that could easily slot into 9. 9-12 is a distinct era onto itself with more internal similarities than differences.

Behind the Laughter should have been the series finale.
