>if they didn't, the organized crime wouldn't pay college for their aids become prosecutors and judges
do you seriously think this is something that started with brazilian organized crime? Like, it's easily provable that any of the main factions operating in Brazil right now started before the PT era.
Even TCP, afaik the newest one, seems to have started in 2002. Again, easily checkable information. I don't even want to get into the already proven connection of global reactionary forces and the cocaine trade (whose increase in the 80s-90s made these organizations which were already fairly powerful completelu ubiquitous).
But keep believing whatever you need to get through the day, it doesn't seem like it's a good time for the brazilian right and I wouldn't want you to kys you are self.
>Director wanted to show how cops are violent and ruthless brutes >Totally gives opposite reaction from audience >Number of applicants to join police force increases >"Good criminal is a dead criminal" becomes public mantra >Director and main actor are seething to this day
That’s exactly what happened, director and the lead actor who played Escobar too are both huge leftists and hated how right wingers lived the first one. To be fair, murdering drug dealers to Brazilian hardcore music is pretty fricking based
They're both great.
Stop parroting that the the second one is a mea culpa for the first. >"Nooo why are politicians bad guys? They should only kill interchangeable low-life thugs"
The politicians thing isn't what put me off. You have the first film showing you how this unit of cops is incorruptible by simple process of hazing out the corrupt cops with brutal and violent means and then you have the 2nd film and everyone is corrupt in BOPE for some reason.
>for some reason.
Its fricking brazil, also not all of them were corrupt. In the end only they can stop the threat of violence as shown in the movie. Not sure why people think capping a few nigs will solve how corrupt the system is. From top to bottom the system needs a cleansing.
The way some of the guys we love die are brutal and out of nowhere. There’s more scenes of “good guys” getting offed than the balls out action of murdering drug dealers.
Who else other than the black guy from the first movie? His death was a strong moment and served the plot well. Were the journalists in the first one too?
Im pretty sure he was the only one. Not that many recurring characters other than him, Moura's character obviously and the scummy corrupt police chief. The Borat looking guy who survives in the end
>"the system is the true monster LOL" bullshit
Leftist scum create this situation, far right idiots blame dark people when they shouldn't be here to begin with.
>Leftist scum create this situation
Anon the birth of the current organized crime factions happened between the peak of the dictatorship in the 70s and the right wing government of the 90s, it's militias that grew exponentially during the leftist governments but at the end of the day what's the difference
They're fun movies and I find it funny that reactionaries clung onto the first, completely missing the subtext. Goes to show media literacy is rare these days
Author's intent: Cops are le bad fascists. Criminals are le good victims of the system.
Actual presentation: Cops are badass crimefighters. Criminals are filthy scum.
am I remembering it wrong but why dont the militarized cops wear kevlar helmets on deployments? Most scenes I remember are with the barets as seen on the poster
Who knows. They don't really IRL either. BOPE wears some kevlars in promotional photos but in the field it's always soft covers. Bump helmets would make a lot of sense, but they don't go fo them
most cops in Brazil are military police, so they just wear regular police uniforms. BOPE is essentially Rio's SWAT, they'll often go into action with typical operator shit and at least a balaclava, but more often than not helmets and such.
Not really familiar with /k/ lingo sorry
PARAPAPAPAPAPAPA
>that scene where the hero beats up the politician
1 is great. 2 felt like an attempt to soften everything that made 1 unique in the first place.
1 is SOUL
2 is American Style Goyslop
Crime would drop really fast if they had these police death squads in the USA.
The USA wants high levels of crime because criminals are a client group of Democrats.
Yeah, as we all know Brazil is really safe and has very little crime
El Salvador is a lot safer now than it used to be. Turns out that mass arrests of drug dealers and murderers actually solves crime.
El Salvador is an extremely small country and half of their criminal population was already living illegally in the US before Bukele's election.
Anon, in Brazil, but particularly in Rio, the police ARE the drug dealers.
it was also literally a plot point in TdE 2
nah
drug traffickers have a side, lefty friend
if they didn't, the organized crime wouldn't pay college for their aids become prosecutors and judges

Because the police and government are corrupt. Did you not watch tropa elite 2.
PM is corrupt af and BOPE themselves are drug cartel enforcers for hire. As long as the massive disparity in wealth exists, violent crime persists.
Esquece essa merda aí, porra
overrated and everything think they're unique for having seen it
Do you know any good brazilian movies that deserve more recognition?
no
City of God
it's the most known brazilian movie
Overrated as frick and worse than Tropa de Elite in every way. Enough with the favela stories.
Estômago
O homem que copiava
Deniro's Brazil
Real Beleza
GOOD MORNING SIR
it was just a mistype relax memelord
The first movie is quite literally the most based movie ever made.
1 was good
2 was trying to correct for 1 being too based
loved both, might give them a rewatch
>Director wanted to show how cops are violent and ruthless brutes
>Totally gives opposite reaction from audience
>Number of applicants to join police force increases
>"Good criminal is a dead criminal" becomes public mantra
>Director and main actor are seething to this day
>>"Good criminal is a dead criminal" becomes public mantra
as it should be worldwide
why do you think they don't even joke about Hitler policies?
I thought they were pretty weak but it's been how long since they released?
First one was fricking amazing.
Second one felt like the guy who made the first one hated everything about it. Didn't like it at all.
That’s exactly what happened, director and the lead actor who played Escobar too are both huge leftists and hated how right wingers lived the first one. To be fair, murdering drug dealers to Brazilian hardcore music is pretty fricking based
They both felt the same to me.
RIP to my homie. He was a real one. The BOPE training scenes were too cool.
They're both great.
Stop parroting that the the second one is a mea culpa for the first.
>"Nooo why are politicians bad guys? They should only kill interchangeable low-life thugs"
It literally was though if you read the interviews with the director
The politicians thing isn't what put me off. You have the first film showing you how this unit of cops is incorruptible by simple process of hazing out the corrupt cops with brutal and violent means and then you have the 2nd film and everyone is corrupt in BOPE for some reason.

>everyone is corrupt
so it's accurate then
I don't understand why people dislike the 2nd movie.
It was more of the same. Corrupt cops were in the 1st one too.
The way some of the guys we love die are brutal and out of nowhere. There’s more scenes of “good guys” getting offed than the balls out action of murdering drug dealers.
Who else other than the black guy from the first movie? His death was a strong moment and served the plot well. Were the journalists in the first one too?
Damn spoilers man
Im pretty sure he was the only one. Not that many recurring characters other than him, Moura's character obviously and the scummy corrupt police chief. The Borat looking guy who survives in the end
fun and interesting movies, both of them
but pretty much overrated still
Should I rewatch ciudad de dios? I don't remember anything about it.
1 was great for treating criminals as they're supposed to be treated.
2 dropped the ball for falling for "the system is the true monster LOL" bullshit
>"the system is the true monster LOL" bullshit
Leftist scum create this situation, far right idiots blame dark people when they shouldn't be here to begin with.

cant believe Padilha went from these to making robocop
seems his career is pretty much over now
One had the better waifu
>tropa delicia
By the way why isn't brazil doing porn productions? They export a tons of prostitutes and models
They're fun movies and I find it funny that reactionaries clung onto the first, completely missing the subtext. Goes to show media literacy is rare these days
Author's intent: Cops are le bad fascists. Criminals are le good victims of the system.

>TROPA DE ELITE OSSO DURO DE ROER
1 is great
2 is shit and obviously trying to correct the record
This movie was so pirated in Brazil, I remember getting a dvd copy of it from a friend at school while the movie was still on theaters.
if I remember correctly, it was available for weeks (months even) in a slightly unfinished copy even the official release
1 is meh
2 is absolute garbage
1 is kino
2 is ok
/k/ino of the highest order. the fact the director got assmad at the audience cheering on the le heckin faschist POPEs makes it double good
Gotta love how Major Rocha was a Sargeant in a 30 seconds scene in the first movie. Motherfricker climbed up the ranks fast.
am I remembering it wrong but why dont the militarized cops wear kevlar helmets on deployments? Most scenes I remember are with the barets as seen on the poster
