>Overrated or underrated?
Neither. It is one of the rare instances where I feel the general consensus is accurate. >Also what do you think about the coming reboot?
I'm not feeling optimistic about it but I will watch anyway for old times' sake. I will pirate it of course, so the studio doesn't think I approve of the reboot.
>Also what do you think about the coming reboot?
The episode titles were revealed and they're almost all parodies of current events. So the writers learned nothing from the mediocre Comedy Central run. There's even an anti-vaxxer episode FFS.
I just hope they retcon all pre-existing relationships. Kif is a spineless nobody lose who couldn't wipe his own ass without cowering, and Leela is a mean-spirited c**t who constantly brings everyone around her down to cope with her shitty personality.
I do not expect the reboot to be good though. Matt Groening is trying to hard to get laid.

You're autistic anon.
The joke is literally that it's How the West was won (ONE) and the extra numbers are just a reference to binary, not to be literally translated.
>They have fallen in to the trap of making every episode some seething epistle putting right wingers in their "place".
Why do they do this? That episode full of seething about Obama's birth banter is just cringe to watch now.
They are idiots then.
People only kept saying it because it made the shitlibs freak the frick out every time it was mentioned. It was not a seriously held belief.
Futurama had lots of funny scenes but their episodes overall didn't transcend sitcom structure cliches that well. But their worst episodes are at least as good as the best post-decline Simpsons episodes.
Their "schmaltz" was also aggravating since the Fry/Leela simp stuff was always horrible, as opposed to an actually pleasant relationship. The Lars movie being the worst example.
Another weird factor is how side characters were generally funnier, eg: Zapp and Nixon.
I think the reboot could be okay, the characters wouldn't be made incoherent by being brought to the 20s as opposed to the 90s-bound Simpsons.
In fact the earlier episodes are 2000s time capsules and the later ones early 10s time capsules. Eg: Napster Lucy Liu on the scary dialup internet vs Steve Jobs with the scary iphone with Susan Boyle on youtube
I suspect when they tried to go ahead without Bender’s VA the plan was to replace him with a woman and pull some “my original body got broken so they transferred into the only unit they had available” trick
Bender's Big Score and Bender's Game are pretty good when they're split up into episodes, but the other two just aren't funny enough for the plots to be bearable.
the most wrong? really? of all the wrong opinions to have, even scoped to just Cinemaphile-related or even Futurama-related, to you this is the worst of them all?
A lot of the jokes can be clever but it very very rarely makes me laugh and people who cry at episodes like with the dog and his brother are the types who collect funko pops
A series of references to older films and tv shows strung together. The original jokes, when they bother to actually write any, are god-awful.
You can really tell John Swartzwelder had nothing to do with it.
This is the correct answer
Four seasons of excellent work
Then four shit-tier feature-lengh movies, the creation of which I will never understand
Then it kept coming back weaker and weaker
If they make another season, and don't ever make another season of Disenchanted, then the two shows will have the same average quality.
And Disenchanted is trash
The original Fox seasons were pure gold. The movies and Comedy Central seasons were forgettable at best. The Hulu revival (it's a continuation, not a reboot) will be dogshit.
And just in general, I'm tired of endless revivals. Come up with new ideas already!
It started out fricking great and got worse every time it was brought back. I don't necessarily hate the later seasons, but they were significantly worse with only a few decent moments. It's been resurrected too many fricking times and it finally managed to get an actual ending that was pretty decent. I'd rather just not have any new episodes, it was already starting to overstay its welcome.

I enjoyed it more then the Simpson
>what do you think about the coming reboot?
It will probably be bad
I love Futurama, but I don't want a reboot. It won't be the same.
>elitist EAST COAST evolution
lacklustre as they were overall the nu-seasons had their moments
I like reboots and remakes, anything to continue the fricking story
I'm hoping the opening episodes of the reboot are only kinda shitty to make way for the not shitty ones.
>Also what do you think about the coming reboot?

>t. pathetic incel chud seething that everyone hates him and makes fun of him all the time
>t. troon
Tf? I literally am woman. Fricking incel.
I just hope they retcon all pre-existing relationships. Kif is a spineless nobody lose who couldn't wipe his own ass without cowering, and Leela is a mean-spirited c**t who constantly brings everyone around her down to cope with her shitty personality.

How the west was 81? I don't get it.
Bro.......
Please explain
Google refers to some Soviet exercise but I still don't get it
Say it out loud in binary form.
How the West was One Zero One Zero Zero Zero One? Now I'm even more confused.

People genuinely believe to this day that he is a Kenyan.
They are idiots then.

>This isnt a joke
Flipping a table with a ton of shit on it in anger is on my bucket list
good right up until the finale
It's great!

peak futurama is nearly on par with peak simpsons.
>peak futurama is nearly on par with peak simpsons.
imagine being so moronic that you can't accept this obvious fact
Why would i accept lies?
Depends if its pre comedy central then its rated about right. Post comedy central is hugely overrated.
You just know they are going to introduce new more diverse cast members
I suspect when they tried to go ahead without Bender’s VA the plan was to replace him with a woman and pull some “my original body got broken so they transferred into the only unit they had available” trick
They could do a joke about Farnsworth being replaced by a hip black woman. But then everything goes back to status quo at the end.
First 4 seasons are great. Rewatched some recently, its 90s references date it slightly but its still really good.
I like to watch an episode now and then
This show has zero good episodes
>he didn't watch "Godfellas"
Original: 7.5
Reboot: 5
Rereboot: Probably 2.5
The straight to video movies were worse than thecomedy central reboot
Bender's Big Score and Bender's Game are pretty good when they're split up into episodes, but the other two just aren't funny enough for the plots to be bearable.
most wrong opinion possible
the most wrong? really? of all the wrong opinions to have, even scoped to just Cinemaphile-related or even Futurama-related, to you this is the worst of them all?
>Also what do you think about the coming reboot?
wait what? I thought they were working on a new season, why the hell would they reboot it?
It's not a reboot and they are contintuing old storylines
it has fallen from grace, is not what it used to be
fear of a bot planet is the best episode
>on fox
underrated
>on comedy central
overrated
>reboot?
no, it will be terrible
A lot of the jokes can be clever but it very very rarely makes me laugh and people who cry at episodes like with the dog and his brother are the types who collect funko pops
Its nerd cringe shit, proto capeshit basically
It declined sharply after the original series.
First movie was good, second was bad, everything after was irredeemable trash.
A series of references to older films and tv shows strung together. The original jokes, when they bother to actually write any, are god-awful.
You can really tell John Swartzwelder had nothing to do with it.
And I'm saying this as someone who loved it 20 years ago, but rewatching it this year with a more critical eye, was really shocking.
If they make a new season it's going to be soulless garbage just like current year Simpsons is.
It has 4 seasons of brilliance then falls into mediocrity forever.

It’s more reddit than rick and morty

I know that feel bro
Extremely inconsistent. Some great episodes and a lot of forgettable trash
Reminder a black voices all the white characters, but of course this isnt an issue right
Correct. It's not an issue. Why should the race of a VA matter?
It matters when white voice actor voices anyone who isnt white
It shouldn't.
The reboot will be amazing I bet
It started out fricking great and got worse every time it was brought back. I don't necessarily hate the later seasons, but they were significantly worse with only a few decent moments. It's top tier for Western animation standards, which are extremely low.
Put it next to any good anime and it's garbage.
The show died with The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings and you can't convince me otherwise
Was amazing, then got mild, then got bland, then got bad.
Same as every other show.
Meanwhile was the best ending, tho.
IMO, the ending of Meanwhile was a better moment to end the series on, but The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings was a better episode overall by far.
