What exactly was the purpose of the limits?

I don't see the point in having the most powerful weapon in the universe possess a timeout button after you randomly pick an alien.

IIRC the creator trivia of the OS said it was to prevent messing with the user's DNA when they transform back

And keep in mind that was still a prototype

It also doesn't transform randomly; Ben is just misusing it because he has an 78 IQ.

It wasn't built to be a weapon, it was meant to be a way for alien species to communicate with one another.

Aliens get along just fine without the Omnitrix.

          Yes they do. Shut up.

            >Yes they do.
But the Omnitrix was supposed to do it in a more personal way. Basically walking in another person's shoes, but literally.

Prevent dysmorphia. Your brain's wired to be used to your body being a certain way. Spending extended periods of time as something else fricks with what feels normal. Your own body would feel like a foreign meat robot.

            >Prevent dysmorphia.
This has never been an issue for at all for Ben, even when he had Master Control.
            >Spending extended periods of time as something else fricks with what feels normal.
He was once Stinkfly for hours and never had any difficulty with how he felt in his human form or others afterwards. The watch most likely rewires Ben's brain + motor functions for each and every transformation he has, and definitely has no issue restoring his original brain functionality when he reverts to normal.

wasn't it supposed to be an ark of sorts? it's not Azmuth's fault that some alien species can level a whole city block just by existing

      >prevent someone who just stumbled upon it from being stuck as another species forever
      >prevent a malicious being from using its power without a drawback
      >prevent glitches caused by overuse
      >what said
Why wouldn't Azmuth implement a timeout?

Without the master control most forms wouldn't be able to change back if the time didn't run out.

Azmuth didn't want it to be a weapon in the first place, it was supposed to create universal harmony with the idea of giving people the ability to walk in the shoes of other species and find common ground through seeing that their experience wasn't really all too different from there's I guess. The idea it was a weapon wasn't apparent to Azmuth and it seems to be what made him kind of a crank to a full on hermit misanthrope who wishes he never made the thing.

Because it wasn't a weapon it should allow you to walk in other species shoes for a while

It's been said the DNA of the alien will start influencing Ben, that's why it worried Azmuth that he kept using feedback.
