Randy Newman was genuinely extremely clever when it came to songwriting.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had a pretty shitty one which only enhanced the films shittiness. Same with Suicide Squad 1.

I remember watching a version of the 1922 Nosferatu with an extremely shitty score. I don't even know if it exists anymore since the newer versions have a recreation of the original one, but holy hell was that one awful.

I think The Batman's soundtrack is crazy overrated. Literally one track the whole film.

The track isn't bad but even Hans Zimmer had more of a variety with his Batman soundtracks. Still, nothing holds a candle to Danny Elfman

Right answer. And the tv series Britannia was insane for a lot of reasons, but the worst one was imitating this. They exploit some copyright loophole where you don't pay royalties if it's less than 10 sec. So you show a helicopter in the sky and play 9 sec of the boomer hit Spirit in the Sky, or you had characters stand on a ledge and play 9 sec of the boomer hit Meeting on the Ledge, or whatever.

the thing is vidya music like that didn't exist back then. sure it was inspired by it. doom probably being the most obvious example. i saw it back in the 80s and the soundtrack sounded like nothing before it and because it sounded new, futuristic and different back then it wasn't distracting, but i can see how if you grew up listening to vidya sounding like it, you would get such a reaction when you finally see it

you are saying this, genuinely. you have upset me over the internet with how incorrect you are. the track you have linked is great. unplug your router and never come back.

also if you're saying on a technical level it reminds you of a 90s MIDI file or something, this is some bullshit logic.

when Comic Sans was first released, it was a genuinely good comic book style font. it's not bad because now "it's comic sans".

not that this is groundbreaking stuff, but electronic music is fairly new and experimental by nature. the score to The Terminator is fantastic. The Terminator 2's orchestral score is disappointing by comparison.

Filipino movies and shows use the stankiest of MIDIs made using MS-DOS. In 2023.
I love MIDI technology and older synth music, but the music in Filipino shows and movies legitimately sounds like farts.
The soundtracks sound like some Vinesauce Joel meme like Super Ghostbusters.

Also, they use royalty-free music downloaded from YouTube.
Filipino movies (at least the mainstream ones) and shows are extremely poorly-made, even by 2007 YouTube standards.
The sound mixing is done on a Commodore Amiga, they either use the DOOM Engine or Unreal Engine 1 for the CGI effects (having 2.5D sprites or extremely low-poly CGI; the effect looks worse than Super Famicom and SEGA Mega Drive graphics), and the video editing is done on Windows Movie Maker.
Filipino shows and movies make Mr. Enter's Movie Maker videos look like AAA Hollywood blockbusters by comparison.

Not the very worst, but one of the most disappointing was The Crow - City of Angels. They hired the bands Filter and Hole to produce singles for the movie, and both churned out some of their worst work ever (Filter's 'Jurrasitol' and Hole's godawful cover of Gold Dust Woman). Bush also did a very shitty cover of Joy Division's 'In a Lonely Place.' It was a big step down from the perfectly decent The Crow soundtrack.
