Boomers can't hold their farts anymore and movie theaters have become intolerable because of it.

theaters deserve to die for food prices alone, other two reasons are just bonuses.

You can also add the 30 minute ad break before the movie even starts
It was cute when I was 8 years old seeing the coca cola bear but having 30 minutes of those types of ads is tiresome

the movie theater business model is to have tech the customer doesn't have, then shit on them until they just barely keep coming. If it wasn't such a monopolistic mob racket, I'd like to start a customer friendly theater with cheap food, helpful staff, and miniature screens in the bathroom so you can keep up with the film.

True, I think that’s the only one I can think of too.
Before seeing Furiosa last night they had one of those “turn off your phones” messages with Deadpool and Wolverine that was labeled before as a red band trailer but they censored all of the swearing.
What’s the point of giving something a red band placard if it’s censored?

I'm surprised no one has had the balls to make a new big budget film with the promise of NO STREAMING OR 4K/BD for 20 years. The only way to have the kino experience would be at the kinoplex. Frick your TV/computer.

I personally stopped going to the cinema because of smart phones. In the past I was able to handle idiots eating and occasionally talking to each-other during movies, but seeing all the tiny moronic screens, seeing them chat, hearing their buzzing, some even answering. FRICK THIS SHIT!!!!

I stopped going to theaters because they quit showing good films. The last two or three times I went to a cinema I had to go back home without watching anything because they had 12 screens showing bullshit all day long and the one film I wanted to see was either sold out, or it was playing only at 8:00 am and 10:30 pm.

Movie ticket sales thrived during the Depression because it was cheap entertainment. The stagflation '70s was hardly a bad time for Hollywood either so I doubt that alone is an excuse.

New movies are largely unoriginal and uninteresting. And if a movie that doesn't open with 100 million is considered a flop, stop making these stupidly expensive movies. If a movie costs 5 million and opens at 20 million it's a great success. A-list actors and VFX are too expensive. They're already outsourcing VFX to pajeetland so why not hire unknown actors who will work for 1% of an A-lister's salary

People only go see movies of it is based off a popular IP they actually like (Mario, Barbie) or it has good word of mouth (Oppenheimer).

No one wants to go to the theater to see some c-list film that will be on streaming soon. Especially with how much expensive tickets are (plus gas) and with people saving money.
