Actually kind of surprised and disappointed it didn't end with Nightwing getting addicted to the power boost. Batman got Superman's powers and went crazy from it.
I'd say it be pretty cliche and kind of boring without some twist to the formula. Taylor set up a potential conflict then didn't go through with it. It's weird. It's not the worst thing ever but it is missed opportunity even if it was for a plot that's been done a million times.
Didn't the thing that have him superman's powers also affect his mind to partially cause that? Admittedly been a few years since I read that story.
I think he was also a little out of it anyways since he was a mostly nocturnal hero who was basically solar powered
that's the supposed narrative but isn't what actually happens in his stories. Most of nightwing is dick being hilariously incompetent, shortsighted, and eating shit way harder than Bruce usually does. Being more socially adjusted is pretty much his only real advantage
> Dick entire character is to not be a flawed individual outside his costume > like Batman or Spiderman or Wolverine
There are pages in this thread that says otherwise, but let say you're right. Taylor's run perfectly encapsulate that mindset. It's not the best you could have because it could be funny or smart, but it's probably the best you can hope for, and Nightwing is not a subtainable model outside of his niche bubble.
I wouldn't say better but Dick is the refined and more balanced version of Bruce. Better in some situations but Bruce would outclass him at other times. Bruce is still an unstoppable monster and keikaku master but Dick is top tier in everything without any glaring issues that Bruce has. I know JLU's Epilogue gets shit for its twist but what Waller says to Terry reminds me of Dick. >You don't quite have his magnificent brain, for instance. You do have his heart, though. And for all that fierce exterior, I've never met anyone who cared as deeply about his fellow man as Bruce Wayne, except maybe you.
It's a combination of shitposters knowing it's easy bait for attention and legitimately obsessed people that lets Taylor live in their head rent free and actively feed the shitposters. It's an economy based on supply and demand.
Tom King said Trinity is like a little sister to Jon and Damian.
Also, what the fuck is this "Kate becomes straight" bullshit lmao, that would never happen.
I think what pisses me off the most about Taylor's run is that it has all these moments that should be cool but just feel unearned. DC is finally treating Dick as an important solo hero and not just another secondary Bat book only for Taylor to turn him into the most boring mary sue ever.
How is it earned?
Story is too smooth, meaning no momentum, no actual challenges and nothing engaging is happening. The characters have all the same personnality, including the dog. It's as engaging as reading the back of a cereal box. The only way to care about this is being a Nightwing addict.
Like what? Everybody solves Dick's problems if Dick doesn't get to it first, Taylor seems to hate relationship drama (which is kinda refreshing, I'll give him that) but as a result his Dickbabs is very sterile, and Heartless is the only villain treated with any gravitas (and even then he barely shows up), and every social problem Dick wants to fix is fixed no problem with his money because Taylor says so.
And there also is no momentum because the whole book is horrendously decompressed. There are so many one off issues that have nothing to do with the plot than actual meaty issues that carry the plot forward.
There's almost 30 issues and at least half of it is fluffy nonsense that could've been tossed in the garbage and it would still be pretty decompressed.
Oh so now hero can’t solve problems, or god forbid ask for help?

I just posted this, and I know it's not really true, but I'm making a point. Dick's best runs have him working with other people. Dixon had Babs as Oracle. Grayson had Babs, Tarantula, and Ravager. Morrison had Damian. Snyder had Oracle and Tim. Seeley had Helena, Tiger, Raptor, and Damian. What's the best run without another superhero helping out? Tomasi? Humphries?

Which makes complete sense, considering this book is a less traumatic re-do of the Dixon and Grayson Nightwing runs.
Dick back in Bludhaven
Babs is Dick's man in the chair.
The Titans, Tim, and Batman occasionally drop in to make sure Dick is OK
Instead of helping a street kid called Mutt, Dick adopts a literal mutt.
Dick's building gets blown up, but nobody dies this time because Dick has friends.
An assassin hired by Blockbuster tries to shoot Dick, but Dick doesn't get shot this time, because Dick has friends.
Babs and Dick nearly break up, but they don't this time, because Babs isn't a turbocunt.
Blockbuster gets murdered, but this time Dick doesn't let it happen.
Instead of wallowing in self-pity, Dick builds a frathouse to share with his friends.
All we need is Deathstroke to show up and blackmail Dick into fucking Ravager and they'll have hit all the major bases.
I'm a huge Robin/Nightwing fan. Everyone one of your complaints is valid. But I'll still take this run over the Lobdell/Jurgens Ric books, or the Humphries/Percy books, or the Higgins books.

His solo comics are largely just okay, you read them more for his characterization then anything but here are some recs
Post Crisis-
Dixon Run:
This is the run that established Blüdhaven which is the only somewhat constant status quo for Dick. The run starts out pretty good but the pacing towards the middle gets awful as Dixon just drags out the story way longer then it needed to be. However it's a very easy read so you could breeze through it quickly.
Nightwing: Renegade
Devin Grayson's run is really shit but this is the one storyline I think is some what good.
Tomasi Run:
This is the last run in Nightwing's original solo.
Batman and Robin by Morrison
Not a nightwing solo but Dick's stint as Batman has some of his best characterization as well serving as a great ending to his post crisis history
Post New 52-
Nightwing: Rebirth Vol 1-Vol 3
This is the only good parts of the Seely run before it drops off in quality
Nightwing: Rebirth Vol 6
This is hands down the best Nightwing solo story arc. You can ignore everything else and just read this if you want a good Nightwing story.
Dixon is good up through the Hunt for Oracle
Grayson's Nightwing is underrated and over-hated.
Tomasi's Nightwing is OK.
Morrison's Batman and Robin is good.
Snyder's Detective Comics (collected as Batman: The Black Mirror) is great, and arguably the best modern story featuring Dick Grayson.
Grayson and Nightwing: Rebirth by Tim Seeley are both good.
>Nightwing: Rebirth Vol 6 >This is hands down the best Nightwing solo story arc. You can ignore everything else and just read this if you want a good Nightwing story.
The one where Dick starts a crossfit studio in Bludhaven and faces some immortal? It was mid.

Probably, yes.
After this they bring in Tim Drake, who sucks.
Then they spend 2 years on crossovers, Dick's long lost half-sister, Heartless, Blockbuster, and Bludhaven. But those first two issues with Dick and Babs were kino.
He was tranquilized but they were doing it so long that it started to wear off and he woke up. They seemed pretty fine and not embarrassed after realizing that. I guess that means they don't say each other's names while doing it. Also, listening to Dick and Babs fucking for hours is pretty hot.
Nightwing should stop relying on Bruce on making gadgets for him. He has proven that he can do great without the Wayne fortune and make some cutting-edge tech himself. I guess they don't want to completely shaft Tim yet. It's like a prototype Beyonder suit with it's invisibility, nano-tech, and hacking.
Bruce has the power of a massive tech company behind him. Plenty of engineers and scientists he can steal tech from.
Dick has a few liberal arts doo-gooders helping him run his Pennyworth POF.
Nightwing's entire existence is that he doesn't want to be Batman 2. Hell, my favorite episode is when Robin has a whole training montage, and everyone is impressed by his handmade stuff. Imagine a comic where Nightwing goes around the world and trains with geniuses like Ray Palmer (utility belt), Ted Kord (Vehicle), Toyman (Creative Engineering), William Magnus (Nanotech), Bobo(Problem-solving), etc. Nightwing is a genius and used to assist Batman himself in making his tools.
solo nightwing has literally never been good. It was a thrilling trainwreck at best or an aimless bore at worst. If it weren't for his time as batman I'd argue that Dick Grayson has the most disappointing books in all of DC
mainstream comics have always been ridiculous bullshit meant for kids and manchildren
THEY FLY NOW???
Aerial sexo with dick
It's fine when Damian does it.
To be fair, Damian had Gleason instead of Gayface.
If a different artist was on this issue people would probably love it.
It lasted a day, and that's like the only time he wasn't a smart-ass or angsty. Very much like kid Jon Kent.
nightwing is the shittiest popular character in DC
Fuck off, Dan.
>DC ripping off fanartists
The fanartist ripped off the Discowing suit first, it's all derivative anon.
Does anyone else want to ride Nightwing’s cock while holding onto his ass?
Wait until you find out how much Gerard way stole for his YA imprint.
oh?
Actually kind of surprised and disappointed it didn't end with Nightwing getting addicted to the power boost. Batman got Superman's powers and went crazy from it.
yes, but that's good writing.we can't have that
I'd say it be pretty cliche and kind of boring without some twist to the formula. Taylor set up a potential conflict then didn't go through with it. It's weird. It's not the worst thing ever but it is missed opportunity even if it was for a plot that's been done a million times.

I forget if it was affecting his mind in some magical way but he went without sleep and even Clark told him that wasn't a good idea.
>Batman got Superman's powers and went crazy from it.
When did that happen?
Batman/Superman 53-56
Bruce with Superman's powers would mean he could fight crime 24/7 so I can see why he went nuts with joy
Dick isn't mentally ill
all superheroes are mentally ill, otherwise they wouldn't be running around in spandex breaking purse snatcher's legs.
Debatable.
Dick’s entire thing is he’s better than Bruce as a hero, person, and friend.
Batman was right. Dick has every right to be just as brooding, but Bruce raised him well. Dickbat is probably my favorite nom-Bruce Batman.
that's the supposed narrative but isn't what actually happens in his stories. Most of nightwing is dick being hilariously incompetent, shortsighted, and eating shit way harder than Bruce usually does. Being more socially adjusted is pretty much his only real advantage

Really grasping at straws to find reasons to bitch about Taylor’s run.
Bottom of the barrel bitching for bottom of the barrel writing. How does the slop taste btw?
It's a combination of shitposters knowing it's easy bait for attention and legitimately obsessed people that lets Taylor live in their head rent free and actively feed the shitposters. It's an economy based on supply and demand.

Nightwing has always had superpowers
I guess Lor-Zod will come back when the generation that grew up reading post-Crisis but Pre-New52 enters the comic book industry
I’m pretty sure Chris still exists in continuity but now he’s just Zods bratty son on the planet they control
They should just give every member of the Bat family some superpower if I am being honest.
