he tells it like it is
He was a lot better when he was younger. Like his material was arguably at its prime when he was just making up songs in his bedroom and posting them to YouTube.
Inside was kino kys homosexual
the songs were really good. the transitions were less impressive.
I really enjoyed his toe rogan impression tho
white woman's instagram, how the world works, welcome to the internet, that funny feeling, and the reaction bit were pretty good. maybe 30 also.
the rest was lame
Turning 30 and Welcome to the Internet were some good tunes everything else was pretty trash
>mediocre music
>mediocre comedy
>mediocre social commentary
but put them all together, and suddenly it's a mastapiss!
I don't get it.
his relatability to other smarmy white-guilt redditor pieces of shit?
he makes catchy songs with mostly corny (some clever) jokes. redditors and twitter built him up to be some sort of prophetic comedic mastermind they can champion because its every millennial's dream to sit inside for years due to mental health issues and make "art" that everyone gives a shit about, when in actuality he just makes catchy joke songs. and no morons like you think he's a piece of shit because he got hyped to the fricking moon
He's been doing stage shows for years before he did his "sit inside with mental health" special, where he performed live a bunch of songs, coordinating with light and stage sound cues, all in one take.
You can say whatever you want about redditors cumming with his dick and his otherwise unimpressive writing skills but this takes absurd amounts of talent.
Every musician does that.
Being a successful musician at all is much harder than a lot of people give credit for. People think “big deal, I could write a song like that” but in reality for most people it would be a pretty big accomplishment to even write and perform one really good song, let alone enough to have multiple albums.
he didn't really get lionized until after the inside special though. before everyone just thought he did fun/quirky joke music with some cool light fx in the live show
If you can get past his unoriginality in lyrics and themes you are in for some amazing music.
What's with the anti-intellectualism, OP?
He's weird al except for homosexuals and a huge cynical piece of shit
>DUDE everything in the world sucks and is shit
>btw I am...le depressed 🙁
Yeah no shit homosexual
you mad lol
He’s way better than weird al in terms of his writing. There’s a massive skill gap between parodying already existing songs and creating originals.
Weird Al has lots of original songs.
A single one of Weird Al's original songs tops Bo's entire career.
i love weird al but "i'm fat" is hardly the genius work of art you think it is
>"i'm fat"
>names a parody because he can't name 1 (one) original Weird Al song
Seriously get the frick off my board
Hardware Store and Virus Alert were great but so many of Bo Burnham’s songs are better in my opinion.
>High School Party
>have a nice day
>Sad
>Love is
>New Math
All fantastic songs and the list goes on. On an unrelated note I think another good comedy song writer who seems to never be brought up anymore is Jonathon Coulton. He had some great shit even if it wasn’t all strictly comedic. People just remember him as being reddit because he did the songs for the portal games.
>Seriously get the frick off my board
weird al isn't Cinemaphile related spaz, relax
Nah
Weird Al is unironically a musical genius. If he went "straight" from the start he could have been another Prince. This isn't even an exaggeration.
Comparing him to Bo Burnham is moronic though, they don't even really do the same thing beyond the most surface level assessment possible.
Nah. I defend Bo but listen to Weird Al's Hardware Store.
It's not poignant and deep, but it's way more impressive than what Bo does.
I’ve heard it. It was my favorite song by him as a kid. I don’t think it’s better than some of Bo Burnham’s material.
He's more of a Tim Minchin ripoff than Weird Al. Stole more than a couple jokes from Tim too.
He's reddit given form.
He's a worse Tim Minchin
>rich people have feelings too!!
Catnip for millennial and gen z women. Musical comedy is the absolute bottom of the barrel
Weird Al is exempt from this. GOATed
I liked Flight of the Conchords.
>watching stand up
>""'comedian""" begins walking over to his piano
Frick you Bill Bailey is goat
Rent free
>Wow, he's just like me!
>”every politician, every cop on the street, protect the interests of the pedophilic corporate elite!” Thaaaat’s the way the world works, that’s how, it works!”
Ya I’m thinkin he’s based
The rest of that song was all about how white people need to shut up and do whatever black people tell them to.
Why do rich celebrities from wealthy families keep trying to tell me I'M the privileged one?
never got the appeal
>smarmy white-guilt redditor
his appeal is to smarmy white-guilt redditors
I like That Funny Feeling
It's the standart "I'm one of you, young people, white people sure are monsters and men should all die haha, please love me, zoomers!" stuff that appeals to mentally ill redditors. The usual.
>White men should shut the frick up!
>Except I am doing the opposite of that!
>Except now I will shield myself with an infinite feedback loop of self-awareness as a defense mechanism!
>Now I have detached myself from anything I say and cannot stand by any of it!
What did he mean by this?
he read a david foster wallace book once
let's hope he meets the same end
