It's just a bunch of people complaining about stuff. It's been like this since 2001
It's where a bunch of cancerous people came from like Timbox and Waggytoon and such

Anyone?
It was one of the first professional looking places to talk about animation on the net
>It's just a bunch of people complaining about stuff. It's been like this since 2001
Are we talking about Toonzone or Cinemaphile?
Toonzone
I'm not even kidding, people used to complain about Jimmy Neutron and Kids Next Door on Toonzone back then. There were even people who complained about Ed, Edd n Eddy
Its pretty funny when you dig up the really old 1998ish posts and see all the half wit Ren and Stimpy boomers complaining about Spongebob and how it "won't last" lol
Toonzone complained about SpongeBob in 1998?
Not surprised
People also complained about Klasky Csupo and also Waggytoons
Those shows are shit though.
It was the only half-decent large forum to talk about animation at the time, I don't know how people are still posting there to this day though especially after the horrid name change.
They were one of the biggest animation discussion forums on the early days of the mainstream internet, and often had interviews and discussion with actual people in the industry. Then John K came in to sockpuppet and astroturf his own work and it seemed to cause a bunch of autistic horrors to spawn in his wake like the dark wander from Diablo 2.
Then the site owner handed it over to his wife and naturally it all went to shit and died a peasant death.
Very strange that it still exists.
Unironically a better place for discussion compared to modern Cinemaphile constantly whining
How is it a better place for discussion? Toonzone also has a lot of whining as well
They actually have mods?
Toonzone mods is what this place would be like if every mod had been Redwood. deader than it is now
At least TZ was completely dedicated to discussing cartoons even when people were whining it was at least about something somewhat relevant like the current state of the industry or channel etc. most threads on Cinemaphile is just coomer bait and capeshit.
Not even comic or cartoon capeshit at that, it's all just live action movies and tv shows.
Matt Wilson of Bonus Stage fame was one of the mods. He was VERY opinionated about cartoons, to the point one guy was blacklisted by the animation industry b/c he shared the same name as him.
That was with Krypto the Superdog. Poor guy had the same name so they threw his resume in the trash. He pretty much hated 99% of the stuff airing at the time.
He trooned out years ago and is now severely depressed.
As much as the guys an butthole, he made decent cartoons for time. Imagine if he kept improving his skill and releases more stuff, instead of crying on Twitter about politics he has no control over.
He does still release stuff on YouTube, but nobody watches it.
Really? I could've sworn he went years without any new animations. Guess I'll check them out later
It's now animesuperhero.com, what the hell
Anyone here know about Veemonjosh? He seemed to constantly complain about Modern TV Networks like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon
He also liked sucking up to Timbox for reasons I have no clue about
He's on Twitter and rants about politics while begging Discotek to release the shitty Sonic OVA. Apparently has health problems due to morbid obesity.
The JLU Watchtower subsite was great and had cast and crew interviews or quotes and all
I remember someone making a fake Green Lantern TAS subsite too
Wasn't a hosted site it seems, but I managed to dig up the link on their forums
http://users.ev1.net/~kryptcom/gltas/greenlantern.html
I don't know how he did it, but Kyle is supposed to switch from GL to civilian, I can't save the GL pic
The image here switched to one of Alan in a suit, but that's been lost to the void
Whoever made this, there's at least one who remembers it
https://jl.popgeeks.com/
Used to be http://jl.toonzone.net/
I remember the early 00's, Matt Wilson would b***h and have a huge ego about everything. It apparently cost him potential jobs since the people working on those shows would read that board.
I'm honestly surprised he was on Toonzone as long as he was. He was one of the many reasons why I think that site was always shit
It was a common problem with early internet forums. Mods would stroke their egos regularly and go "I'm better than you for being a mod". And a lot of the board would dick ride their shitty behavior and target anyone the mods thought were unworthy.
I know this because I was on both ends on different forums. It made me feel worthwhile to be an butthole and thought it was fun because everyone in positions of power did it, and I regret it.
Sadly this mentality never completely faded away. It ended up mutating into what you see on plebbit and discord.
Unfortunately yea. It's just nobodies trying to deluding themselves into that they matter by having powers over others. It's less frequent on forums, from what I've seen anyway.
I still miss it.
lol they got bullied by feminists and troons who didn't like people saying woke Star Wars sucks.
Where's your proof of this?
>you lived long enough to see shit like this become the subject of internet archeology
Oh frick, I completely forgot this place even existed. Thanks OP, gonna go check it out after what's been at least 10 years.
Anyone know about Jeff Harris?
https://twitter.com/nemalki
44-year-old virgin who lives on welfare with his mother in Black personopolis. Despises white people. He's becoming increasingly creepy with lusting over black actresses.
Toon Zone doesn't exist anymore. They changed their name and became irrelevant. Do they even still get screener copies of DVDs, or interviews with directors?
