Evelyn learns there is something to love about every universe. Though I don't know how much of a refutation of nihilism that is. It's not like nihilists hate everything, they say it doesn't matter. The movie's message is to just be kind and while the husband's philosophy does solve the conflict it still doesn't answer the question of why I should be kind in a nihilistic universe. It's a bit inconsistent in that regard.
Nihilism itself is utterly inconsistent.
Every time I meet someone who claims nothing matters and or claims to be suicidal, I rip them the frick apart.
If you truly wanted to die, if nothing truly mattered. You wouldn't get out of bed. You wouldn't get dressed. You wouldn't hold a job. You wouldn't speak when spoken to.
It's an ideology that fails at the first hurdle and only continues to crumble when you layer on the additional details.

It's basically made by/for western asians who have interesting progressive social ideas and heart and something to say but aren't actually artists or interesting filmmakers, even in a mainstream way. It's just competent.
It's like elevated Marvel or netflixschlock.
The performances are good but again not that interesting and i find big action set pieces like that boring. Turned it off 1/2 way in.
