In all likelihood, they are not real. The main reason for this is, given the amount of people who have lived and died on Earth throughout human history (as one answer pointed out, this number is over 100 billion), statistically if departed spirits were real there would by this point be some type of empirical evidence for their existence.
This is especially true in the modern age, with more advanced equipment, technology, and more opportunities for spirits to make contact with the living than in older and more superstitious times. For instance, an example I think of all the time, is why ghosts don’t go to major television studios and try to communicate with the news media, who would be exactly the type of people perhaps most open to the possibility of their existence (think of the fame of a journalist who actually proved ghosts were real)
More likely is that ghosts are not real but that is not to say the afterlife is not real. With current scientific knowledge about fields, gravity, and heat-entropy, it is a fact that when a person dies, the energy in the body, both kinetic and latent, does indeed go somewhere. Heat leaves the body and the electric impulses in the brain stop with that same energy then discharged through dead and dying neurons. Matter and energy can never be truly destroyed, so the “you” probably does transform into something else. What that something else is remains a great mystery of science.
>that is not to say the afterlife is not real.
given the amount of people who have lived and died on Earth throughout human history. you'd think the souls would find a way to collectively work together in the afterlife to make it back to earth
>you'd think the souls would find a way to collectively work together in the afterlife to make it back to earth
that would be an interesting premise for a movie / book / comic if it hasn't been done already
There was that one dumb movie where the dead came back thru the internet and start attacking the living because they're pissed off about not being alive anymore
Evidence can only capture corporeal phenomena. Ghosts exist in the same dimension your soul exists.
You only experience them here because you're also connected to the soul realm by your soul.
>corporeal
Jesus Christ you people will believe anything. Genuinely scary to think that people are walking around this second thinking this shit is real

I always say this to ghostcels and they're always shocked I don't believe in ghosts. At best, the stone tapes theory could be the only plausible one, but that's a massive stretch. I unironically use believing in ghosts as a midwit filter, if someone believes in them you can just tell they're a huge NPC. Probably vax maxxed too

Ghosts, demons, hauntings, posessions are all Judeo-Christfag/Abrahamic schizo hysteria.
There is no concrete evidence for any of that crap. And I say it as someone that wanted it all to be real as a kid. I remember how much time I've spent researching this stupid shit like an autist.

Yes satan hates us and wants to mess up our lives and try and convince us God doesn’t love us
>With current scientific knowledge about fields, gravity, and heat-entropy, it is a fact that when a person dies, the energy in the body, both kinetic and latent, does indeed go somewhere
This is like saying that a battery has an afterlife once it runs out of power
In the stories it's often said people turn into ghosts haunting others if they died in some extremely horrible way and/or they are seeking revenge/justice and things to be resolved so their sould can find rest.
Also ghosts could be spiritual entities that existed forever and not the souls of dead people and just choose to take the form of a contemporary human to show themselves.
>Athenodorus is also written of by Pliny the Younger, who tells us of Athenodorus' renting of a haunted house in Athens. Athenodorus was wary because the house was exceptionally cheap for its size. When Athenodorus was writing a book of philosophy, late at night, a ghost is said to have come to him. The ghost, who was bound with chains, beckoned Athenodorus to follow him, but was allegedly indicated by Athenodorus to wait. After he finished his writing, the ghost led him to a courtyard, and suddenly vanished. Athenodorus marked the spot, and the next day, with the permission of the city magistrates, he dug up the earth from that spot, where he found the skeleton of an old man, bound with chains. After the skeleton was given a proper burial with full honours, the ghost was said to have never haunted that house again
But consider, anon, the sheer amount of humans who have died in horrific and violent ways during the totality of human history.
A mesolithic man was probably brained with a sharp rock and left to expire on the specific spot where you are sitting right now.
Thats why I believe the second theory about ghosts not being spirits of people that passed away but ghosts being spiritual entities that just take human form is more likely
Ghosts aren't real simply because when you die, your soul goes to Heaven or Hell. There's no train from the afterlife back to Earth unless you're special enough that God permits it.
Now, ghosts might not be real but demons on the other hand...
I don't think conscious, literal-souls are moving around in the world of the living after they die. That doesn't make theological sense.
However, I think it would make sense if there were something like what people call "residual hauntings" where some remnant of a person's mind was left wherever they died. Disembodied thoughts, basically.
Operation Stargate makes me think this, at least.
You don’t even have to die to residually haunt a house. A “ghost” of my anger and depression still haunts the house where I used to live. It’s basically a poltergeist.
I'm telling you that they're delusional and added to the story more than it was present. Humans have the ability to believe in their own lies and delusions.
not that anon but if I had to guess, I assume the body acts like a kind of soul filter, and damage to the body just temporarily inhibits the soul until it passes on.

>so are all souls created equal?
Nonsense. >In both Matthew and Luke, a master puts his servants in charge of his goods while he is away on a trip. Upon his return, the master assesses the stewardship of his servants. He evaluates them according to how faithful each was in making wise investments of his goods to obtain a profit. It is clear that the master sought some profit from the servants' oversight. A gain indicated faithfulness on the part of the servants. The master rewards his servants according to how each has handled his stewardship. He judges two servants as having been "faithful" and gives them a positive reward. To the single "unfaithful" servant, who avoided even the safe profit of bank interest, a negative compensation is given.

why do you think ghosts knock over chairs and shit.
Ghosts are proof of life outside of our dimension. After death, we become immortal beings of light who live outside of time and space and are able to stay in any specific time we want. I'm guessing most people choose a time way in the future that we do not yet know about but some people want to stay where they were, thus ghosts exist.
Gnomes, elves, really any mythical creature can simply be explained as a fourth dimensional being visiting our time and space.
>If souls and ghosts were real then the world would be litetally overcrowded with ghosts
Energy is all around us
Literally everything you see is energy, just slowed down
It never dissipates. It never goes away. It only changes.
Are "ghosts" real? Not in the horror movie sense but residual energy is very real and undeniable.
In all likelihood, they are not real. This is as gay midwit logic as people arguing
>nooo you can't intuitively know the future, if you could then tell me the next lottery numbers
moron, just because I often receive guidance and insight about what choices I should make, doesn't mean I can pick and choose freely whatever I want to know.
If souls exist (they do) and some get trapped as literal ghosts on earth (they do) then this does not logically mean they stay here forever (they don't). Good souls come and help them to the light eventually, where they usually enter rebirth since they are not ready for leaving earth yet.

listen to you projecting, embarrassing yourself like that. Think, damn you, THINK! Just because you can't do something, does it prove others can't either? If I better hearing than you, does it mean, because you didn't hear something it isn't real?
If what you're saying is true why isn't this common, basically "scientific" knowledge of how to conduct yourself in existence?
Why the obscurantism? Why do souls have to be "ready" for leaving earth, but the knowledge of how to do so is a guarded secret by jackasses like (you)? >b-but I'm not holding any secrets? People just choose not to listen!
I don't need to believe or understand how technology works to be able to trust that it works, because it's very obvious it DOES work.
Why doesn't something similar apply to metaphysics?
it's likely all spirits of dogs and cats. virtually any ghost anecdote is filled with house pet material. walking around, knocking things off desks, cracking doors, etc. including mine
I don't believe in ghosts BUT, I think the most accepted lore is that most souls "move on" somewhere else. An afterlife, another plane of existence, whatever. Ghosts are ones that for whatever reason couldn't move on. Unfinished business on this plane, maybe they had a violent death or a miserable life. You never hear stories of hauntings in happy places or ghosts of people who died happy and peacefully, it's always the ghosts of people murdered.
Yeah. And how come ghosts are always from either centuries ago or the 1940's? Nobody ever seems to see ghosts from 2008 wearing Affliction t-shirts and ripped jeans.
I know you're trying to make a point but there are "modern era" ghosts. Like all that shit with little girls showing up on roadways and truckers see them and they died in a car crash in like 2003
Absolutely. But then you get the apocryphal stories of people saying they saw similar things in exact same spots independent of each other. Not proof of anything without sworn testimonials and gps tracking and blah blah blah. Sometimes it’s just fun to believe.
>Planet is currently overrun by numberless, mindless soul-suckers.
Did you not do your own math, anon?
Would you even know a ghost in the street in today's world?
Maybe those who fail to depart this world come back as moron ghouls. It would make sense.
Creatures who only know "the hunger of the now" with no sense of past or present, and completely entrapped by the material world to the point they don't even know they're dead. They exist only to exist.
Would explain some within their ranks really committing to Baptist churches.
They're ghosts who actually figured out they were trapped and can "see the light" again.
>be God >create humans (against their will, I never asked to be created) >never give them any proof of your existence >send them to eternal torment if they don't believe you exist
surely you must realize how fucking stupid this sounds?
Which god though? Yours?
Existence is proof of existence, not who created it. You can argue it was created, so there must be a creator, but that’s a big leap to all knowing, all powerful entity, and an even bigger leap to your deity being the one.
I saw a ghost at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told it how cool it was to see one in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother it and ask it for photos or anything. It said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but it kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing its hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard it chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw it trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in its hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Hey, you need to pay for those first.” At first it kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, it stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, it kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
To anyone who liked this, besides Gonjiam I'd suggest pic-rel.
It's the same setting but a different premise, the 'twists' follow the course of the story and come very naturally but are also surprising. Well executed.
i saw a ghost when i was a young kid. some children also remember their past lives up to the age of 5-6 and it's probably because they still aren't completely conditioned to the material world
we were at our summer house and i was sitting on the couch facing the kitchen door, can't remember how old i was but my feet still could touch the floor, and i saw my late great grandmother standing there smiling at me with her arms folded across her chest. it lasted for just a few moments and i was confused.
she died when i was around one so i couldn't remember her and none of the family photos show her at that spot but years later i heard my mom say that was her favourite spot in the house. she would just stand there and listen to the family talk
it was. it's like there's a concerted effort to convince people all the strange phenomena is bad, scary and menacing when it's none of that. just look at how alien life is depicted in movies, or any of the paranormal
Aliens are just demons that garden gnomes worship. They aren't friendly.

Do tell. Did you want more than this? I'm aware of the disconnect between biblical demons and daemons. >The Ancient Greek word δαίμων (daimōn) denotes a spirit or divine power, much like the Latin genius or numen . Daimōn most likely came from the Greek verb daiesthai ("to divide" or "distribute"). >While δαίμων was sometimes used interchangeably with θεός (theós), when used together in a context, a δαίμων is usually a lower god than a θεός (theós).

Its not my fault you don't follow tradition.
Unironically Supernatural. I've used a number of their tips and tricks to deal with various ghosts and demons. They don't all work so its a bit hit or miss but, for example, ghosts are damaged by iron and salt.
Now that you mention it a "Ghosts In Da Hood" movie would be kino. I miss all the Hood/Gangster spoof movies of the 90's/2000's they need to bring that shit back
If ghosts really existed they wouldn't set up jumpscares, there would just be a lot of bizarre, inexplicable behavior that was weird and maybe creepy but not especially scary. The closest movie I can think of that showed them this way was the earlier part of Poltergeist where bizarre stuff was happening in the home but it wasn't scary, the mom was even testing the "rules" of their behavior trying to figure out what was going on and having fun with it.
And then the evil ghost (the "beast") shows up and starts trying to scare them, goes back to a run-of-the-mill movie haunting.
Ghost aren't deceased people, at least the scary ghosts aren't. They are spiritual entities that feed off your emotions(mostly fear) thats why they spoop you. Also it means you are "possessed" and it is constantly feeding off you. If you die it will most likely devour your soul and grow.
>Regard not those who have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God. >Do not suffer a witch to live. >Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
>do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God
Thank you, anon. I always thought all spirits are not allowed to converse with the living. Now I know I was wrong.
ghosts are just residual emotional energy. human thought and emotion leaves and imprint on the world around it. demons and poltergeist are real however

Yeah, reddit. Don't pretend as if majority of Cinemaphile doesn't use Reddit. They are retards in general, but you can sometimes find interesting topics.
When i was 4 years old and was playing with my grandfather, something weird started peeking out of my room's door frame and looked at me, almost as if it was smiling. It looks disfigured and in general I've got very weird feeling form that thing. It looked like it was falling apart or rotting. I sharted my pants in fear and started crying, no one knew what the fuck is going on. I was just pointing my finger at the door frame without even being able to say anything.
Didn't see it since that time. But whenever I visit my old house and old room, I get a weird feeling that I'm being watched by something. Might be PTSD.
if ghosts are real how come none of them have gone on the news and went "Yeah bros so it turns out the after life is real. Also most of the history books are wrong about [insert era here]". We wouldn't even need Historians if ghosts are real
you can think of it in terms of a game. you are both you and your character but the changes in your character's body/situation don't affect you in any significant way
I want a movie where ghosts struggle to learn how to use the internet and have to compete with zoomer digital ghosts because people spend more time online than in abandoned mansions
An entire thread of people unable to prove/disprove anything. Outstanding. Why can’t you fat spastics just admit it’s impossible to know for sure. It’s down to belief or the lack thereof.
I’ll tell you my litmus test for midwitism: absolute certainty. I dang be sure I have all the answers to life’s questions but I’m pretty fucking sure you don’t either.
people go way too deep into philosophy/logic/science when it comes to questions like this... all you need is common sense...
>vast majority of supposed ghost experiences happen at night >we're talking 10-to-1 >why would ghosts be obsessed with the night? >why wouldn't they like fucking with people during the day?
the difference would mean nothing to them... they would be living in endless night anyway...
us living humans on the other hand are extremely conscious of night-time and a huge chunk of people are still scared of the dark
then you throw in how much easier it is to be confused by visual things at night...
I’ve no dogs in the particular fight but one could argue that links between worlds etc. are weaker at night or fatigue plays a role. There’re logical explanations if one has enough imagination. People chatting to ghosts and not getting any extra info bemuses me more. Mind you I’d be a bit upset if some ghost was telling me that their existence is constant pain or the afterlife really is a pile of shit. Rather not know.
Me? No, the closest thing I’ve had to a supernatural experience was just a feeling of dread and a mental image of an old lady rushing out of a bathroom and pushing me down stairs. Not proof of anything as there’re numerous explanations for that. It was just a FEELING.
Because people were free of indoctrination back then. No brainwashing by "culture" or "religion" so Grugs only believed in what they see or saw, just like all Animals and Humans should.
>Humans literally make shit up just to feel fear and adrenaline again
this has gone on since when people were shitting in holes >dragon >gnome >loch ness
>dragon >loch ness
Might've seen some not-so extinct dinosaurs or maybe they found dinosaur bones and didn't know what the fuck was that. >gnome
Just a smaller hominid that Homo Sapiens might've encountered.
Ghosts are a different beast altogether. You can see a dragon or gnome coming at you, but you won't see a ghost until it's too late.
I dont believe in Ghost but one time when I was 8, I was on a family vaction in bum fuck Mexico, like you had to shit in holes and no electricity. One night when I was sleeping i literally felt something pull me out of my bed, I thought it was my older sister messing with me but when I got up there was nothing there. Till this day I have idea what it was and have never experienced anything like that, but holy shit was it scary. Told my dad about it the next morning he just said "Oh yeah that was a Bruja"
My grandmother used to say that there was something weird lurking at our yard in the night, she was some glowing eyes a couple of times on the stairs leading to our home. Our yard is also awfuly quiet at night, almost as if everything is silent on purpose. My mother was standing with my father and saw something tall, lanky and dark next to an old tree house, she couldn't even say a word for some time, until my father yelled at her and snapped her the fuck out of it.
Sometimes when I walk at night, I feel like I might be observed by something. And this yard is indeed weirdly quiet during the night, despite its location next to a fucking lake. Not saying that they really saw something or that I believe in it, but those are strange coincidences.

If souls and ghosts were real then the world would be litetally overcrowded with ghosts. How many humans died in human history? Think logically you fucking feeler retards.

Souls are probably just some type of energy, so they can return to the Cosmos if they're even real.
Fuck that, if i'm dead I want it to stay that way
>you'd think the souls would find a way to collectively work together in the afterlife to make it back to earth
that would be an interesting premise for a movie / book / comic if it hasn't been done already
There was that one dumb movie where the dead came back thru the internet and start attacking the living because they're pissed off about not being alive anymore
Evidence can only capture corporeal phenomena. Ghosts exist in the same dimension your soul exists.
You only experience them here because you're also connected to the soul realm by your soul.
>source: it sounds fun to believe in
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9584488/
>corporeal
Jesus Christ you people will believe anything. Genuinely scary to think that people are walking around this second thinking this shit is real
Souls aren’t real
Other religions also believe in ghosts, hauntings and possessions.
Yeah. But Abrahamic ones are the ones that made it popular for the entire world. It's always some idiotic demon or le Satan possesing people. Apparently some subhuman irrelevant moron thinks he's so unique that Satan himself with choose him kek.
Fucking narcissistic bullshit.
Still ghost folklore exist in japan, china, SEA as well
It's true. My Filipina gf has seen ghosts during her sleep paralysis moments.
Idiot. Thise movies are made in countries that are mainly Abrahamic. Movies in Japan for example have ghosts based on Japanese beliefs.
Doesn't make them real.
That's not my point. My point is you are ignorantly wrong when you said:
>Ghosts, demons, hauntings, posessions are all Judeo-Christfag/Abrahamic schizo hysteria.
>inb4 that wasn't me that was another anon
backpedalling liar
You are an autist.
nta but you got btfo
just take the L and move on
>ignorance exposed
>smokescreens talks about something else
>reminded about what was in his post
>bawwww you're being autistic
Autist and a schizo. Keep believing in the fairy tales, you low IQ moron.
>L
Not only low IQ but also a zoomer.
>ignores the actual point where his ignorance was exposed
>insists on talking about another point
Actually, you're the autistic and schizophrenic one. kek
>m-muh ghosts and demons
Low IQ
maybe you lack something needed to perceive the phenomena
Yes satan hates us and wants to mess up our lives and try and convince us God doesn’t love us
>Probably vax maxxed too
typhoid mary idiot
>With current scientific knowledge about fields, gravity, and heat-entropy, it is a fact that when a person dies, the energy in the body, both kinetic and latent, does indeed go somewhere
This is like saying that a battery has an afterlife once it runs out of power
maybe not many people have souls?
I liked that in the Harry Potter lore, only wizards get to have ghosts and muggles don't. I wonder if Harry Potter fans understand what that implies.
After the skeleton was given a proper burial with full honours, the ghost was said to have never haunted that house again
wtf? explain this shit fedoras
>hold on ghost let me finish this thought
Absolutely based.
Athenian ghost hunter kino when?
But consider, anon, the sheer amount of humans who have died in horrific and violent ways during the totality of human history.
A mesolithic man was probably brained with a sharp rock and left to expire on the specific spot where you are sitting right now.
see
You will also be imprisoned in hell when you die.
Nice try schizo, but JC has my back.
Oh. Okay. Can you ask JC to let me in heaven? Please?
Ask Him yourself, I bet He'll be happy to listen.
GOOLD??
>stargate
Anon that was a television show not reality
>he doesn't know
Retard
literally not smart enough to even talk to me
worthless fuck
You don’t even have to die to residually haunt a house. A “ghost” of my anger and depression still haunts the house where I used to live. It’s basically a poltergeist.
Incorrect, souls ate reincarnated unless they’ve become enlightened and achieved neutral karma, then they escape Samsara and enjoy non-existence.
I've talked to people who have seen ghosts for real. You're telling me they're lying, or what?
I'm telling you that they're delusional and added to the story more than it was present. Humans have the ability to believe in their own lies and delusions.
if i hit you in the head enough times you become retarded. is your soul retarded after that?
not that anon but if I had to guess, I assume the body acts like a kind of soul filter, and damage to the body just temporarily inhibits the soul until it passes on.
Ghost in the machine.
so if youre born with a low IQ youre just eternally dumb?
try reading his post again
so are all souls created equal? theres no discernable difference between one soul and another?
>so are all souls created equal?
To the single "unfaithful" servant, who avoided even the safe profit of bank interest, a negative compensation is given.

whats the moral here?
i don't know
why do you think ghosts knock over chairs and shit.
Yes
Ghosts are souls that didn't go into the light
To be fair, the stories say that these are exceptions to the rule. They say most souls move on, but it is only a rare case that one does not.
Can't believe I am having to spoonfeed you m
>just because I often receive guidance and insight about what choices I should make
You're talking to yourself you retard.
>receiving information I couldn't possibly have known
"rationalise" it however you want, all I am hearing i seethe from you because your stunted ass can't.
That's your projection and wishful thinking. You are an idiot that doesn't know anything about his own mind.
>i can't do it, so there is no way anyone else can
cry more, maybe try decalcifying your amygdala or something
I'm not the one making up reasons for intuition and common sense you imbecile. You didn't recieve shit from some imaginary deity, those are your thoughts and your brain trying to fight off your idiocy.
listen to you projecting, embarrassing yourself like that. Think, damn you, THINK! Just because you can't do something, does it prove others can't either? If I better hearing than you, does it mean, because you didn't hear something it isn't real?
You have schizophrenia
>You are an idiot that doesn't know anything about his own mind.
thank god we have people like ewen cameron et al to teach us the right way to think
They Trap within their own timeline
What the fuck makes you think ghosts occupy our universe?
We already know there's parallel universes.
Ghosts interact with our plane of existence, they don't occupy it.
"ghosts" have no mass.
>Ghosts aren't realistic at all
Neither are dick slurping fags, yet here I am talking to one
I'm hetero and gays are persecuted in my country. Don't come here.
fact, our body has a unique reaction to witnessing a supernatural event.
it's likely all spirits of dogs and cats. virtually any ghost anecdote is filled with house pet material. walking around, knocking things off desks, cracking doors, etc.
including mine
pretty good
I don't believe in ghosts BUT, I think the most accepted lore is that most souls "move on" somewhere else.
Sixth sense for most realistic ghost movie then?
t. ghost
Yeah. And how come ghosts are always from either centuries ago or the 1940's? Nobody ever seems to see ghosts from 2008 wearing Affliction t-shirts and ripped jeans.
I know you're trying to make a point but there are "modern era" ghosts. Like all that shit with little girls showing up on roadways and truckers see them and they died in a car crash in like 2003
Any chance that the drivers were simply tired or drunk?
Absolutely. But then you get the apocryphal stories of people saying they saw similar things in exact same spots independent of each other. Not proof of anything without sworn testimonials and gps tracking and blah blah blah. Sometimes it’s just fun to believe.
>Ghosts aren't realistic at all
>t.
The Invisible Klansman?
>Planet is currently overrun by numberless, mindless soul-suckers.
Did you not do your own math, anon?
Would you even know a ghost in the street in today's world?
Maybe those who fail to depart this world come back as moron ghouls. It would make sense.
Creatures who only know "the hunger of the now" with no sense of past or present, and completely entrapped by the material world to the point they don't even know they're dead. They exist only to exist.
Would explain some within their ranks really committing to Baptist churches.
They're ghosts who actually figured out they were trapped and can "see the light" again.
Wtf is this movie even about? I see it posted everywhere but it's only ever that same screenshot
It isn't a movie. It is of a supposed ghost caught on video in England. Can't remember the exact name.
no such thing as ghosts or spirits or god. leprechauns are extinct. grow the fuck up.

Boring
easily one of the most boring movies /misc/ hypes up every fall. its shit, the acting is shit, the pacing is shit. it's complete shit.
Ghosts exist. The reason we're not overwhelmed with ghost sightings is that most ghosts (including all atheists) are locked up in hell.
>be God
>create humans (against their will, I never asked to be created)
>never give them any proof of your existence
>send them to eternal torment if they don't believe you exist
surely you must realize how fucking stupid this sounds?
give them any proof of your existence
Existence itself is proof of God's existence. Nice try.
The only reason you believe in God is because your parents taught you, and because you were born in a Christian country.
If you were born in a remote tribe somewhere in the amazon, you definitely wouldn't believe in God
>The only reason you believe in God is because your parents taught you, and because you were born in a Christian country.
Prove it fag.
Unequal distribution of ability and the moral duty to "do your best".
Which god though? Yours?
Existence is proof of existence, not who created it. You can argue it was created, so there must be a creator, but that’s a big leap to all knowing, all powerful entity, and an even bigger leap to your deity being the one.
>Which god though? Yours?
There's only the one God; and many gods. Any being that doesn't fit certain qualities cannot truly be God.
I've heard that ghosts can cause electrical infetterence so that's smart thinking.
Capser meets Wendy
Grave Encounters
new 'jak just dropped
To anyone who liked this, besides Gonjiam I'd suggest pic-rel.
It's the same setting but a different premise, the 'twists' follow the course of the story and come very naturally but are also surprising. Well executed.
and if you liked all 3, go for Ghostwatch, the original version of these movies that did it super well.
Be realistic. Ghost sitting on top of other ghost sounds fucking goofy.
i saw a ghost when i was a young kid. some children also remember their past lives up to the age of 5-6 and it's probably because they still aren't completely conditioned to the material world
What did you see?
we were at our summer house and i was sitting on the couch facing the kitchen door, can't remember how old i was but my feet still could touch the floor, and i saw my late great grandmother standing there smiling at me with her arms folded across her chest. it lasted for just a few moments and i was confused.
she died when i was around one so i couldn't remember her and none of the family photos show her at that spot but years later i heard my mom say that was her favourite spot in the house. she would just stand there and listen to the family talk
That's nice and comfy.
it was. it's like there's a concerted effort to convince people all the strange phenomena is bad, scary and menacing when it's none of that. just look at how alien life is depicted in movies, or any of the paranormal
Aliens are just demons that garden gnomes worship. They aren't friendly.
proof?
Ye shall know them by their fruit.
that's a bible quote, i was asking for proof
btw, do you know what the word originally meant?
UGHHH ALIENS ARE DEMONS
What a fucking retard. There are faiths older than Judeo-Christian crap. Are they all false? Why do you think Judeo-Christian bullshit is the ultimate true?
So many fucking planets, so many organisms could live there and that retard is claiming they are demons. Kek, fucking low IQ and propaganda at its finest.
>There are faiths older than Judeo-Christian crap
In a sense. Depends how you define your terms.
>Are they all false?
False isn't the right word. Mistaken.
>Why do you think Judeo-Christian bullshit is the ultimate true?
The inner witness of the Holy Spirit.
What word? Demon? Of course there's no proof. "Proof" is a disgusting Enlightenment idea. Pass.
Goddamn Christfags are so retarded
Praying for you.
My understanding is god/demigod/spirit/being or whatever. I have no issue with this. I've always taken pagan gods to be misconstrued angels or demons.
>Praying for you.
As relevant as a fart in the wind.
>god/demigod/spirit/being or whatever
a bit of reading won't do you harm
>a bit of reading won't do you harm
>Did you want more than this?
yes. there's more to it
Gimme a book to read then.
the wiki page is a good start. find the similarities between cultures, preferably before christianity subverted it all
>Daimons are lesser divinities or spirits, often personifications of abstract concepts, beings of the same nature as both mortals and deities, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature, or the deities themselves
Are you going with some kind of Jungian archetype thing?
>Jungian archetype thing
i'm not familiar enough to answer that but from what i understand they're familiar "spirits", language is lacking when describing these concepts, things that warn, guide and are part of one's family's and cultural heritage
a lot of these were completely subverted to mean evil things
Gotcha. So more ancestor worship then? Households gods and such?
not gods, as i said language is lacking. for instance look at my experience here
is my great grandma a god, lesser god, do we worship her?
>is my great grandma a god, lesser god, do we worship her?
Your ancestors would have no trouble honoring and sacrificing their deceased ancestors. There were lots of small gods that were worshiped by individual households. Not everyone was Zeus.
>Your ancestors would have no trouble honoring and sacrificing their deceased ancestors
what?
Ancestor worship. In that sense your grandma could be considered a god. Assuming you venerated her.
>Ancestor worship. In that sense your grandma could be considered a god. Assuming you venerated her.
you misunderstood totally. did you even read my post? it was a very personal experience that i was able to understand only many years later. no "worship" involved
>i was able to understand only many years later. no "worship" involved
Its not my fault you don't follow tradition.
sorry i don't engage in symbolic cannibalism
>What word? Demon?
yeah. what did it mean before?
Why is it always atheists who believe in ghosts KEK
The burden of proof is on you to prove that ghosts DO exist, not the other away around gay
why? sounds like a cope
Scooby Doo
Ghosts aren't real
Unironically Supernatural. I've used a number of their tips and tricks to deal with various ghosts and demons. They don't all work so its a bit hit or miss but, for example, ghosts are damaged by iron and salt.
Aw hell nah if I ever see this bro for real I'm finna go off
Now that you mention it a "Ghosts In Da Hood" movie would be kino. I miss all the Hood/Gangster spoof movies of the 90's/2000's they need to bring that shit back
checked
>ayo bro who you been calling them spooks huh?
If ghosts really existed they wouldn't set up jumpscares, there would just be a lot of bizarre, inexplicable behavior that was weird and maybe creepy but not especially scary. The closest movie I can think of that showed them this way was the earlier part of Poltergeist where bizarre stuff was happening in the home but it wasn't scary, the mom was even testing the "rules" of their behavior trying to figure out what was going on and having fun with it.
And then the evil ghost (the "beast") shows up and starts trying to scare them, goes back to a run-of-the-mill movie haunting.
>If ghosts really existed they wouldn't set up jumpscares
I would.
Ghost aren't deceased people, at least the scary ghosts aren't. They are spiritual entities that feed off your emotions(mostly fear) thats why they spoop you. Also it means you are "possessed" and it is constantly feeding off you. If you die it will most likely devour your soul and grow.
Neat
Saul summons Samuel's ghost in the old testament too.
I did not know that. Or maybe I did (it sounds vaguely familiar) and I forgot. Thank you.
ghosts are just residual emotional energy. human thought and emotion leaves and imprint on the world around it. demons and poltergeist are real however
is the source video still up?

Yeah, reddit. Don't pretend as if majority of Cinemaphile doesn't use Reddit. They are retards in general, but you can sometimes find interesting topics.
I've had two ghost experiences that at least make me question.
Also Sam and Colby are kind of annoying but not bad on some things, they catch a door slam on its own on camera.
Tell me bout it
>I've had two ghost experiences that at least make me question.
i'm listening
One was in Boston at a bar across from where Sam Adams is buried. One was completely elsewhere in a supposedly haunted place.

Mind-body dualism. Its this huge branch of philosophy. You probably haven't heard of it.

Proof has nothing to do with reality.
Prove it
Quads confirm proof is fake and gay.
The only correct answer.
people go way too deep into philosophy/logic/science when it comes to questions like this... all you need is common sense...
>vast majority of supposed ghost experiences happen at night
>we're talking 10-to-1
>why would ghosts be obsessed with the night?
>why wouldn't they like fucking with people during the day?
the difference would mean nothing to them... they would be living in endless night anyway...
us living humans on the other hand are extremely conscious of night-time and a huge chunk of people are still scared of the dark
then you throw in how much easier it is to be confused by visual things at night...
>>why would ghosts be obsessed with the night?
Its spookier so its easier to scare dumb meatbags.
Rather not know.
>if some ghost was telling me
do you know of any instance when a ghost spoke? or when the dead speak in your dreams?
not trolling, looking for answers
Me? No, the closest thing I’ve had to a supernatural experience was just a feeling of dread and a mental image of an old lady rushing out of a bathroom and pushing me down stairs. Not proof of anything as there’re numerous explanations for that. It was just a FEELING.
was junebug tweakin fr ong?
Why aren't there caveman ghosts?
Grug was satisfied with life, dissatisfaction is what creates ghosts.
Because people were free of indoctrination back then. No brainwashing by "culture" or "religion" so Grugs only believed in what they see or saw, just like all Animals and Humans should.
>just like all Animals and Humans should.
Humans have a spark of the divine. Sorry materialist.

While you homos and nimrods bicker about stupid shit, I'll just leave this right cheer.
>Human life became so easy tutorial mode that Humans literally make shit up just to feel fear and adrenaline again
Civilization was a mistake.
>Humans literally make shit up just to feel fear and adrenaline again
this has gone on since when people were shitting in holes

Told my dad about it the next morning he just said "Oh yeah that was a Bruja"
my grandma would also tell us not to go out at night because there was a man in black who would walk around at night and snap up children
