The "return" was so cringey. It's overrated garbage but because David Hack Lynch directed it that means it's the greatest thing ever made. Twin Peaks and David Lynch get BTFO by The Sopranos and The Shield and Oz and Breaking Bad and The Wire. Yeah sure maybe The Sopranos takes a little inspiration from David Lynch's Twin Peaks and the rest of his work but that is only a small number in a much larger sum total. The Sopranos takes a little bit from Lynch but it truly is it's own thing and if David Lynch didn't exist The Sopranos would have still been the highest of grade kino. The return was such pseudo intellectual garbage that was directed poorly on purpose and everyone at this shit up. The Return has barely surface level of deeper meanings compared to other high grade shows.
You are right but Lynch isn't good because of any intellectual depth, he's good because of the atmosphere he creates. I don't know think Lynch knows this is why he's good though, and he had almost lost it by the time he made The Return.
Well because it does have some deeper meaning to it, but not in any way that appeals to the mind as it does to the human condition, or the soul if you can understand it in that term. You gotta go into it with an open mind though, just have fun with it instead of trying to analyze and nitpick every detail.
I saw The Warriors recently and noticed the scrawny guy who explains the rules to Mr C is the leader of The Orphans gang in the movie and talks and behaves very similarly.
>what if, and get this, what if we frick with the audience by not giving them cooper for not just one or two episodes, but almost the entire series?
Classic Lynch
I like how he gave time to bands at the end of most episodes, and clearly someone tried to talk him into using their DJ friend or something, and Lynch gave him like 10 seconds in the middle of an episode

Why do people like you think it’s trying to be deep? It’s just fun and weird
Yeah sure it's just "fun and weird" now but when ever this series is reviewed it's treated as the deepest most brilliant masterpiece
You got filtered

And nice digits, checked.
> talks and behaves very similarly
Yeah he’s one of those character actors that plays the same role in everything
"Warriors, come out to play" guy is Jerry Thorne in TP
No shit. Christ.
I feel like The Return was a deliberate shitting on the detective genre in general.
Dougie were the best parts. What year is this was kino.
>Dougie were the best parts
no it wasnt
>midwit who missed the point of the series
>contrarian midwit
The best part is some guy does a magic trick which leads to a kid getting run over in front of Harry dean Stanton

And I assume they couldn't get ZZ Top to perform Sharp Dressed Man live so they just played the song while the announcer guy danced
