Anger is meant to be shared, especially in the privilege of an anonymous setting as a function for general community reaction. I am only one data point, but sharing anger is never pointless. the internet its partially to blame for this but i think that we were already making that turn in the mid 90s. Legacy media was already dividing parties with the republicans leaning into talk radio with Rush Limbaugh and Mark Lavin while television was erecting 24 hour news networks. John Stewart made the point that CNN and MSNBC only are good for 9/11 events; watershed moments that require around the clock reporting so without events like that they had to play into outrage reporting to get the views.
