I hate to say it but Star Wars 1977 holds a special place in my heart like a lot of people. It's great and uplifting and fun and it's easy to ignore all the other Star Wars surrounding it and enjoy just that one movie any time. It's great.
Based! I got to see JP in theaters too and it brought a new love to the film. I always considered Jaws to be tremendously better (still prefer it) but that theatrical experience with JP made me respect the film a lot more than my initial impression.
Lots of critics secretly feel guilty loving Spielberg because his films are "family" or "kitschy". Saving Private Ryan made them feel like they could finally award him for making a big boy movie for big boys like themselves lol.
The only problem was it didn't have a big enough budget to be done 100% correctly. It's my dream to write/direct the LA version with DiCaprio and have someone give me $100m to do it right.
