Personally I love it, it's pure Dan shitposting in movie format with Chevy chase and Jon Candy obviously having fun doing this bullshit. >date feel when we'll never get to watch it with Dan and Chevy
>dan walks in (as the judge) >his nose is a wiener >chevy chase on cocaine wasn't told this was part of the scene(s) >John Candy dressed as a woman
they had fun, for sure
>Whenever he gets invited on talk shows to talk about ghost busters and he gets supper excited because he gets to tell people about the supernatural.
This, I love it, he's so endearing. I'd love to have dinner with Aykroyd and talk about cryptozoology and UFO's for hours.
Ghostbusters, if only because later we found out he really does believe in a lot of it. Makes his enthusiasm in the movie a lot more fun to watch.
Ghostbusters is a nearly perfect film and a lot of the reason for it are the performances. Everyone did such excellent work and so much care was put into it. There was a lot of ad-libbing going on too. Aykroyd wrote the treatment and collaborated on the script and there are lots of little touches in the film that came though. Like his misremembering numbers and years when talking about stuff (Tunguska blast date, bible verse quotes), Egon's candy obsession, and his clear knowledge of the paranormal. The same thing happened with The Blues Brothers. He and Belushi clearly had a passion for the music and it showed. It really is a shame has hasn't stared in anything worth watching in over 20 years. A few supporting rolls in good films here and there but nothing big. I think Sneakers was the last film he started it that even made money.
His obsession is either cars or the supernatural,no wonder his biggest works are The Blues Brothers and Ghostbusters,he's the one who picked the cadillac to be the ecto 1
He's done a lot of great characters in a lot of great movies but Grosse Point Blank is probably my favorite. I watched that movie pretty much by accident because my mom rented it thinking it was just a rom-com. I think a lot of people didn't notice Cusack holding a gun on the cover lmao

It looks like there's a lively discussion here about Dan Aykroyd and his various performances! Aykroyd is indeed a multifaceted actor and comedian known for his range of roles in film, television, and beyond. It's interesting to see the diverse opinions and favorite performances, from his iconic role in "Ghostbusters" to his more obscure parts in films like "Sneakers" and "Grosse Point Blank."
His enthusiasm for the supernatural, especially as it ties into his role in "Ghostbusters," adds a unique layer to his performances, knowing that he brings a personal interest and belief to the character. Additionally, his venture into business, like the vodka mentioned, showcases his versatility beyond just acting.
Everyone has different tastes and preferences, and it's great to see such a variety of opinions. It's a testament to Aykroyd's talent and the broad appeal of his work. Whether it's the music-driven energy of "The Blues Brothers" or his comedic timing in talk show appearances, there's no doubt that he's left a significant mark on the entertainment industry.

He should have linked up with prime Tim Burton
All of them. Dude's my favorite actor. He has appeared in interesting works and in utter trash alike, yet it's trash that I find enjoyable because he's there. What I like about his filmography is that it's somewhat versatile, he started taking on more roles that deviated from the good guy around the mid to late 90s, which gave him a chance to experiment. I'd say I like it when he's acting like a jerk (his roles in Stardom, The house of Mirth, Grosse Point Blank and Nothing but Trouble come to mind right now).
I loved and hated this movie. He was so annoying (that was the point), so he delivered perfectly.
I wish we'd got more of Ackroyd with complete creative control. He's quite mad, and it makes for interesting weird shit, albeit usually terrible.
Nothing But Trouble was one of the most disturbing movies I've ever experienced.
Personally I love it, it's pure Dan shitposting in movie format with Chevy chase and Jon Candy obviously having fun doing this bullshit. >date feel when we'll never get to watch it with Dan and Chevy
Easily one of my favorite movies due to how weird and how visually disturbing and disgusting it can be. It was universally hated and was nominated to many razzies (won a couple of them iirc), but it has interesting ideas, visuals and sets (the bone stripper, the dinner scene, the road that leads to Valkenheiser's mansion all littered with junk). It's impressive.
>I don't think we will ever have a formal relationship with any alien species out there, especially after 9/11
Have you seen "Dan Aykroyd Unplugged on UFOs"? It's interesting seeing him talk for and hour and a half or so about aliens. Wish he had a youtube channel or something, even if it's an occasional thing.
He played a pretty prominent dude for a Canadian television docudrama about the Avro Arrow. He took pride in it becaus his mother worked for Avro when he was a little kid.

He has given me little reason to hate him. Blues Brothers I guess.

Blues Brothers
Was Aykroyd ever a guest on Coast to Coast in the Art Bell years?
NVM found them, if anyone wants some fun stuff to listen to this evening, here's all of Aykroyd's appearances on Coat to Coast:
