I am opinion that it's a good movie and one of Tarantulas better ones over all. Performances were great and the action was comical and fun while still being brutal. I especially loved Leo's performance, you could really see the joy in his face whenever his character got to flagrantly use the Black person word.
Hateful Eight > Reservoir Dogs > Jackie Brown > Pulp Fiction > Once Upon a Time > Kill Bill 1 > Inglorious Basterds > Kill Bill 2 > Django > Death Proof
I feel this is the babby version of The Hateful Eight, the last one is much more kino. I'm sure Feetino wanted a western full of suspense but ((they)) needed senseless action in the third act to cater the money you know. The Hateful Eight is, for me, a lot more enjoyable, and the actors stand out a lot more than Foxx-Waltz as protagonists. Jackson-Goggins were performances a lot more enjoyable in my opinion
not because he cared about them, but because he wanted to avenge the German and save his lady. You can see on the scene where he kills the Aussies that he feels no empathy for the other Black folks. He would probably own slaves as well if he had the chance
I made the comment because some people say that this movie is a Black person power fantasy just like hateful eight when it's heavily explicit that Samuel Jackson's character was the biggest piece of shit of the cast
H8 would work so much better if Sam Jackson's character was actually lying to the General to goad him into shooting first so Jackson has self defence as an excuse to kill him
The way that scene is framed the lie isn't clear, but the goading is
I think the story was real about knowing and killing his son, but the dick sucking was fake.
>it's heavily explicit that Samuel Jackson's character was the biggest piece of shit of the cast
does that somehow stop it from being a blaxploitation film because whitey isnt the main antagonist?
? This is exactly what happens, Jackson is obviously lying to the general so he can kill him. Did you want Tarantino to narrate at the start of the chapter that Samuel Jackson isn't telling the truth?
To be honest that one line of narration Tarantino did in H8 was so bad it should retroactively destroy all of his credibility as a director and he should be forced to disembowel himself in apology. It was such an unneeded and badly done narration I was literally shocked when I saw it. I'm surprised no one mentions it.

Jarring fricking decision. I think Tarantula just wanted his voice on the movie or something. He could have so easily showed the outlaw woman poisoning the coffee.

He actually showed the hand poisoning the coffee. So it was narration, of something directly being shown happening as he was talking. I couldn't even comprehend it, it was so bad and unnecessary. He should have been beaten. Dead serious, he should be beaten in public because that was a crime against moviemaking.

The narration was jarring and terrible, but I still really like that movie, seen it a few times now. Great characters and performances, and a non-cringey QT script for once

The narration destroyed the entire movie and Tarantino's whole career past and future.

The third act is too long, but it's probably Tarantula's most entertaining film and Waltz deserved that Oscar. I would've given one to Leo and SLJ as well.
Good point, but I don't know enough about the other genres he pastiches to comment on it
All of Tarantino's films are pastiches with perhaps the exception of OUTIH so if you know what he copies his style completely falls apart
? This is exactly what happens, Jackson is obviously lying to the general so he can kill him. Did you want Tarantino to narrate at the start of the chapter that Samuel Jackson isn't telling the truth?
Tarantino feels the need to narrate a recap of a scene after the big flashback, it would be on-brand for the movie
movie goes truly off the rails as soon as Schultz shoots Candie, the editing of the shootout doesn't make any frickin sense nor does the resolution (he just walks out and they don't gun him down?)
everything that follows after is rushed and fleshes out a character for Django who, until then, had almost zero personality and is a completely different person from the guy with the shit-eating grin blowing up the mansion
This was Tarantino's first movie without Sally Menke on the editing, and it shows. A completely unwatchable slog, every single scene goes on for too long.
A cool simplistic action movie

cheesy ending
It's good. It's not great. It's a modern day blacksploitation film.
its easily the best blaxploitation film there is
its an entertainment revenge flick
it was shit as frick I hate that kind of """""humour"""""
if I wanted to watch comedy Id watch something else
Garbage.
QT rankings - Pulp Fiction>Once Upon a Time>Jackie Brown Proof>>Kill Bills Dogs>>
Basterds>H8>Django.
>Pulp fiction 1st
Stopped reading there your taste is garbage.
Shit rankings.
Hateful Eight > Reservoir Dogs > Jackie Brown > Pulp Fiction > Once Upon a Time > Kill Bill 1 > Inglorious Basterds > Kill Bill 2 > Django > Death Proof
I think we can all agree that death proof is tarantula's worst film. The first act is okay, but after that it becomes unwatchable.
Hateful Eight is straight up trash
this. i only saw it once and that was enough. trash film

Movie was kino as frick. Only thing holding it back is Jamie Fox. Terrible casting choice.
Tarantino’s second-worst movie, only Death Proof manages to be shittier
Couldn't finish it.
Django is as bad as the slavers. The dentist was the only good person on this movie
??? He frees all the black people at candyland
not because he cared about them, but because he wanted to avenge the German and save his lady. You can see on the scene where he kills the Aussies that he feels no empathy for the other Black folks. He would probably own slaves as well if he had the chance
It's isn't that kind of story. Django isn't supposed to be a good guy, he's supposed to take revenge on the people that wronged him.
I know

Based Blaxploitation film lover.
Why would the killing be real but the dick sucking fake?

BACK TO MARVEL WITH YOU
It's hard to believe Tarantino got away with a full serving of Foxx's genitals for the camera, but hey, he did.
It was good but had the worst music out of all tarantula movies (unless Basterds was worse, didn't watch this one)
The third act is too long, but it's probably Tarantula's most entertaining film and Waltz deserved that Oscar. I would've given one to Leo and SLJ as well.
bunch of filtered Black folk ITT
Death Proof was kino
Based because it caused a total meltdown on pol for weeks.
The favourite western among people that don't watch westerns
If you do like westerns you think it's derivative and self-indulgent
what QT movie isn't derivative and self-indulgent?

It was based in the south was it not? Why do people even refer to it as one?
It has cowboys and revolvers so it's a "western" to really dumb people
or a "southern" to really autistic people
muppet comment
Tarantino feels the need to narrate a recap of a scene after the big flashback, it would be on-brand for the movie
Same as other Tarantino's movies: cool shooting and cool dialogue, but nothing more than that.
His worst movie so far, Once upon a time in Hollywood was much better
movie goes truly off the rails as soon as Schultz shoots Candie, the editing of the shootout doesn't make any frickin sense nor does the resolution (he just walks out and they don't gun him down?)
everything that follows after is rushed and fleshes out a character for Django who, until then, had almost zero personality and is a completely different person from the guy with the shit-eating grin blowing up the mansion
>he just walks out and they don't gun him down?)
he was firing back at them??
lmao that guy in the middle not even aiming his rifle
dumb frogposter
DJANGO
Django have you always been alone?
DJANGO
Django have you never loved again?
"Slavery is... le bad!"
cringe
soulless 5/10 flick
Shit was a frickin' snooze. Somehow more boring than its source/inspiration.
cucked revenge porn by a creep who brags about Wilt Chamberlain fricking his mom
One of the most weakest and boring movie of tarantino
It's fun fantasy.
>what if Black folk were people
Much more enjoyable than basterds
This was Tarantino's first movie without Sally Menke on the editing, and it shows. A completely unwatchable slog, every single scene goes on for too long.
No, you just have ADHD or never seen a movie not produced at hollywood.
Too long
>troony mod thread baiting bans
here i know you hate picrel
It's patrician just like everything else on this list.
>the tasteless schizo guide of Black person-approved cinema
die out
>No Blade, Midnight Express, Asterix Mission Cleopatre, Boyz N the Hood, Downfall, Das Leben den Anderen
D R O P P E D
It was fun, like most Tarantino films. I hate Black folk now, so I haven't seen it in awhile. Jackie Brown is still pretty good.
