probably some vietnam war type shit where the jap """civilians""" are portrayed as the victims as they charge american soldiers with sharpened sticks or strap bombs to themselves for suicide attacks.
Realistically would America have won without the nukes? Every Japanese citizen was willing to fight to the death.
Probably at cost of about 2 -3 million personnel. Siege leads to insane casualties especially the island one
Bomb the manlets with manlet bombs
Doesn't have to be Big Bomba
Japan was already in the process of surrendering when the bombs dropped. The bombs were just showing off.
>Japan was already in the process of surrendering
No, it wasn't. They were still trying to haggle for a conditional surrender, but the allies had given them an ultimatum: unconditional surrender, or the war continues. They refused this ultimatum, so they got the bombs.
Bleeding hearts are really obsessed with perpetuating the myth that Japan 'had basically already surrendered' for half a century. I don't know why they're so obsessed with it. Basic primary source investigation will show that they weren't willing to agree to the USA's terms until after they got nuked.
>Bleeding hearts are really obsessed with perpetuating the myth that Japan 'had basically already surrendered' for half a century. I don't know why they're so obsessed with it.
You KNOW why.
Americans, Whites, Westerners? BAD
Non-Americans, Non-Whites, Non-Westerners? GOOD
the allies asked for
>The elimination "for all time of the authority and influence of those who have deceived and misled the people of Japan into embarking on world conquest"
and when japan was able to exempt the emperor from this they agreed
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippines_campaign_(1941%E2%80%931942)
And then we accepted their unconditional surrender and granted them the conditions they originally asked for anyway.
Damn bleeding heart supreme commanders invented fake history.
Pussy-ass fleet admirals acting like they know more about Japan's willingness to surrender than me, someone who was raised on textbooks which were written by the State Department.
Even if you were right, if you compare former Japan or European territories that were occupied by the US and western forces with Soviet "liberated" territories, it's not hard to see which ones had the best policy in retrospect. Japan has been an economic superpower, just like West-Germany
I wonder, at the time the shit was actually dropped, did he ~~*feel in charge*~~?
>and granted them the conditions they originally asked for anyway.
Not really, US let them keep their emperor but nips also wanted to keep their government and some of their conquered territory. US wanted unconditional surrender so they could rip all of that down and build the LDP one party state vasal that is modern japan
These quotes are just trying to distance themselves from it after the fact like "oh no, I'd never do that I'm a good person!" but are completely at odds with the reality that Japan refused an unconditional surrender wanting to keep their swathes of captured territory that no one in their right mind would allow Japan to get away with.
Why would they need to distance themselves when they were never the ones who gave the order to use the nukes? It was a political decision, not a wartime one. It was Washington spitting on the faces of our military leaders.
>Chairman of the joint chiefs
so spent the war in Washington and never saw combat?
Easy for him to send other men to certain death and spout off such pretty morals.
No. One of the conditions the Japanese set forth was to conduct their own war crime trials on their own people and that there would be no occupation. Keeping the Emperor bit was only a part of what they asked for
Why do anti-American Narratives always rely on literal lies?
sure why not? look up what mutts did to tokyo in march 1945
I like Japan a lot and respect their opposition to the israeliteSA and Europe's enemies but they started the firebombing with their dinky little balloons. They found one near my house a few years ago in the woods. they only wish they could have rained fire down on western cities
american propaganda is so funny lol
Not as funny as your small pp Tojo.
nukes were also dropped because Japan was so weak at that point that the US was mostly worried the Soviet Union would occupy territories of Japan, so yes definitely
Realistically way people, including way more japs, would have died in firebombings, starvation from being blockaded, and the eventual invasions. And in the years to follow way way way way way more japs would have died in Soviet Japan. The nukes and a full surrender to the US unironically killed the least amount of japs and was the best option by far for Japans future.
It would have been enormously costly, but probably, yes. The nukes saved probably hundreds of thousands of US servicemen's lives, and countless millions of Japanese lives, in the long run.
russians were preparing a northern invasion too, they would've folded to avoid that
They would't have folded quickly enough. We would have ended up with a "North and South Japan" just like we had in Korea. Except Korea would have been entirely commie since the Russians would have just steamrolled through Japanese forces in Manchuria and Korea as they collapsed.
The Russians still hold the northernmost Japanese island they stole at the end of the war, it would have been an even worse outcome. No matter how it panned out, things post war would have been much worse for Japan, and 2024 alternate history Japan would also be worse off and smaller.
Imagine the communist anime.
Soviet cartoons are kino incarnate, so Japan would be a huge improvement on the talent pool at least.
>Soviet cartoons are kino incarnate,
Did Japan win any battle against the US in WW2? There's the Pearl Harbor "surprise" attack, and what else?
every battle in the first 6 months practically
Batan
Yes. There were multiple methods the Americans could have won the war without the use of nuclear weapons. A navel blockade would have starved Japan of oil it doesn't produce. Continued bombings would have broken the people's spirit further. Japan wasn't nearly as unified as American propaganda made it out to be. Additionally, the Americans could have waited for the Red Army to arrive like what was planned.
The army didn't care about any of those things and wanted to show off their super top secret weapon to the Soviet Union. Japanese leadership didn't even understand what had happened after the first nuke dropped because they were so used to the frequent fire bombing campaigns that they thought it was just another one of those.
The nuclear bombings were to try and scare the Soviets with a weapon they already knew about and were developing, and keep communism out of Japan. Had the Red Army arrived before Japan surrendered, Japan would have been split apart like Germany. Additionally, the Japanese knew they couldn't take the full force of the red army and would have surrendered before a proper invasion or shortly after a disastrous land invasion from two fronts.
America could bomb Japan at will once they captured Okinawa. Those US soldiers would have had nonstop air support bombing everything. Japan would have been leveled by the end. It would have looked like North Korea of the Korean war.
The US was already burning down Tokyo with napalm bombing runs. The nukes saved more Japanese lives than anything and are great example of why hitting hard and fast and being ruthless is the most humane way to win a war.
Japan surrendered because Russia was about to join in. They knew whatever Russia took they weren't giving back.
The japs intended on sending out 10,000 kamikaze a day for the first week or so, eventually it would be down to 1,00 a day, the idea was to demoralize the allies away from the attack and they had no more fuel for real sorties
if it happened it would've failed and the world would've been saved from the great satan
>if it happened it would've failed
Keep seething, Hiro. The nukes were mercy
>world would've been saved from the great satan
It's too bad the Soviet Union never invaded your country and stripped you of your freedom of expression. Unfortunately for you, your country was allied with a liberal democracy that advocated for your human rights 🙁
Rattled
My favourite piece of trivia about it is
>By war's end nearly half a million Purple Heart medals were on hand with more being produced in anticipation of the invasion; in 2003 there were still some 120,000 of this stockpile left.
probably some kino banzai scenes at the siege of Tokyo and a lot of dead bugs
>banzai scenes at the siege of Tokyo
this would make a good fictional-realism WW2 movie
let's buy the rights to it and write some kino anon
I'm suing these homosexuals
I would prefer if Russians invaded it instead
With what navy, fricktard? Russia had absolutely nothing in the Pacific to threaten Japan. The best they could do is move in on their mainland Asian possessions, but the invasion of Japan itself was never going to see Russian participation.
>With what navy, fricktard?
Well there was obviously some kind of plan, fricktard, because Downfall was planned as a joint operation with the Soviets invading from the top at the same time and were going to be rewarded with a large chunk of Japan like they got of Europe.
>>Well there was obviously some kind of plan, fricktard, because Downfall was planned as a joint operation with the Soviets invading from the top at the same time
There is literally no evidence of this anywhere, why do you moronic tankie make shit up that can be easily disproved? Hell even the image states plainly that Operation Downfall was comprised of two entirely American waves.
>there was obviously some kind of plan
lol no there wasn't, fricking moron.
There was no way they were going to be able to whip up an amphibious fleet large enough to invade Japan before Japan agreed to a separate peace with the Americans.
Why? Japs already shat on them 40 years before. Commies can't fight worth shit.
soviets wrecked japan so bad japan had a 5 year truce set up with them
Japan Rekt the Russian Empire at sea, and no doubt could have easily done so again at the start of the war at least. The Soviet Unions navy was an absolute joke.
On land is another matter entirely, total reversal of fortunes. This is in large part due to Japans reliance on the shittiest of shit light tanks only meant to massacre unarmed peasants. The moment they ran into another actual tank army they got there shit pushed in.
I remember there was a comic book abouy this some years back.
Threadly reminder that America dropped leaflets warning Nagasaki residents of an impending nuclear attack on the city. However the leaflets were dropped the day after the bombing. https://blog.nuclearsecrecy.com/2013/04/26/a-day-too-late/
Why do the nukes cause so much butthurt when bombing campaigns killed way more?
NPC's are dumb
Soviet propaganda. See also the World Peace Council.
Americans = bad
Considering the Soviet plan to invade too, Japan would be divided into communist North Japan and South Japan like Korea.
Would have been much more kino than the nukes, the japs wouldn't be crying and making shitty art for the next 80 years about how unfair it was if they had been utterly destroyed in a bunch of land battles. Also a lot of amerifats and banzai autists would have killed each other, everyone wins
If the nips just attacked Russia from the east, Hitler could have won easily. Instead they sperged out at Americans and brought about this doomed timeline.
Dumb frick.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_of_Khalkhin_Gol
>here is a battle where the Japanese were vastly outnumbered and had little to not support from the HQ because the Kanto Army was just doing whatever it wanted.
Its a little more different than a full on planned Japanese invasion of the East. Combined with a German invasion of the West. But Hitler was a moron and didn't tell Japan its plans and then signed a treaty with the USSR leading Japan to do the same. Only to then invade without telling its ally.
The only problem with Japan invading Russia is its navy would be of no use and there isn't much to annex until you get to central Asia.
Japan did attack the Soviets and got fricked by their tanks
>ehhh it's too hard
>lets kamikaze USA instead
Japs may be intelligent, but they sure are moronic.
JB355.
All the Purple Hearts being handed out today were originally manufactured for Operation Downfall. It would have cost so many American lives and left with the Soviets in a much stronger position. Not to mention Japan would probably be like Philippines tier shit hole now.
>when facing Americans with Nukes or Russian rapists, the Japanese chose the better option
Nuclear bombs are a israeli weapon. They fear the samurai.
>They fear the samur--
Invading Japan would have exposed America to the brutality it pretended didn't exist until Vietnam, which greatly accelerated its cultural decay and undermined its noble founding principles.
So America would be about 20 years further into its death spiral imperial decline than it is today.
>the brutality it pretended didn't exist until Vietnam
>Vietnam was more brutal than Okinawa, and Iwo Jima
Are you fricking moronic? More men died in two months in Okinawa than did in all the Americans in Vietnam over 20 years.
