i use it and I still have to drag the subs into it
it takes literally 10 seconds to copy them and change the name

VLC adds subs easily and with MPV you can just drag and drop.

there's also some options about auto detecting subs you can add in your mpv.conf
there's also some scripts that do an even more comprehensive job of it
you can totally manage to autodetect subs, at least in the most common scenarios (like the annoying subs folder of rarbg releases)
I hate managing subtitles for plex. I dont understand why there have to be so many different formats. I dont understand why they are always out of sync. I dont understand why I can resync them but then they just go out of sync again. I hate fricking subtitles.

IDK why burgers insist on doing it manually, we had this automated for 20 years over here. Install qnapi / napiprojekt. It adds "download and fit subtitles" to right click context menu for video files and search subtitle databases using parameters like fps, encoding and filename, so you get the right sync 99 times out of 100.

The bigger question is YTF Apple and Roku refuse to support .pgs subtitles and only support .srt. I have a WDTV Live box from like 15 years ago that supports .pgs. The Nvidia Shield boxes also support .pgs. I can play stuff on my phone with the VLC app and it support .pgs. But just for fricking Roku and AppleTV, I have to go find the .srt subs. Who was the fricking genius behind that move?

Make a file called mpv.conf in MPV's folder, it depends of the operating system. You're probably a Windowsgay so just open your file explorer and search for MPV.
In mpv.conf just type:

I'm not sure what the VLC equivalent is. MPV is a lot more powerful with how customizable it is. You're just going to have to do it manually.
