          >that nervous chuckle when he repeated the line about fucking his wife the third time
Also the Onion had this uncanny ability to cast perfect extras and child actors who basically only appeared in one short. I think the only one I know of who had any level of success was one of the teen girls who went on to do Happy Deathday

Genuinely clever satire. It wasn't vitriolic the way it is now. Tunnel vision obstructs your judgement.

      >Tunnel vision obstructs your judgement.
Yeah, they've pivoted too hard towards just making fun of the right. The fake Rowling interview was a recent low point, because above all else it just wasn't funny.

People are going to say it's TDS, but even 2017 they were putting out videos like that video about the Trump voter changing his mind after reading feminist literature

        Anonymous

That was such a great video, especially if you've hung around those types of leftists, but you're right, its all about being funny. The trouble with TDS is that it doesn't require you to be sincere in your condemnation because any criticism will afford you an audience that will agree with what you have to say. This type of behavior fosters poor writing because you have your work cut out for you.

Stupid /misc/ users and silly zoomers sharing Youtube links of the Onion instead of mentioning the original paper that was free. That's the last time it was great because it was not commonplace and rare. To find a copy you either needed to live in the Midwest or near a college campus or knew someone that did. Sure, they went online in 1996 but the majority of people read the paper. Most of you will never know what that was like. You're just normies in disguise larping.

          >Boomers created the Onion
          Nope, guys I knew did.

          who is he and how

I worked with him at a UW-System paper and he was a fucking prick. He applied to The Onion (back when it was still in Madison) without realizing I knew probably half the editors. One called me to ask what I knew about this dude, seeing that we both worked at the AT. I actually told him, hire the guy if you think he's funny. He said they didn't care if he was funny (he isn't) because all they need are people who can write copy within APSG parameters, they just need people who are likable and easy to work with. He wasn't, so he didn't get the job.

Lot of people who did work there landed at SNL, CC, etc.; lot when on to Hollywood. How you treat people matters.

Zoomers call Gen X Boomers too, dipshit. You're almost as dumb as they are because you didn't know that. And you're full of shit saying you knew the creators of the Onion because that would mean you're in your mid to late 50s posting on here. Nice fairytale you spun for yourself. I grew up not far from Madison so I'm well aware of its origins.

Late forties, actually, homosexual cunt. And that's my excuse. You're young enough you should be out trying to crush ass and party. Instead you're here with your virgin baby dick trying to convince Gen Xers who've lived full lives that they're Boomers.

                Anonymous

You just confirmed you're an idiot by not knowing Zoomers call us Gen X'ers Boomers. Maybe some Zoomer will chime in to mock your ignorance as well. Tim Keck created the Onion in 1988 so even if you're 49 that means you were still in high school when it started but sure you were buddies with them. I'll buy that for a dollar! And thanks for the advice but I've already been there and done that. And then some. You just lashed out like a child in a fit of rage getting caught in a lie. Ironic.

nagger, you're obviously some butthurt israelite pretending to be a comedy intellectual because you'll soon be replaced by AI who can easily write better bad political jokes for Seth Meyer than you ever will. The world would be a better place with you not in it, you know it, other posters here know it and those around you know it. If that weren't true you'd be sharing a laugh and not being the miserable piece of shit that you are.

That was the most original and profound reply I've ever read. Your eloquence and masterful command of the English language is breathtaking to behold. I just might commission you to ghostwrite my autobiography but first I'll need to see another writing sample from you. So please, regale me with some more whimsical tales about myself with that charming wit of yours.

I'd rather you not use your native written and spoken languages when replying because then I'd have to use Google translate which is tedious and unnecessary. Now be a good boy and get to work on that writing sample. Until then, no more questions.
