some Star Trek shows have actual sex scenes and one of the biggest memes of TOS is how many green aliens Kirk boned

One's sci-fi, one isn't. Star Wars is more like light fantasy and a western action with a sci-fi look. Star Trek is more about morals, what humans would be like in the future, most aliens in Trek are a reflection of humanity, problem solving, malfunction of the week or planet of the week.

Star Trek is actual sci-fi, so it's less appealing to brainlets
Although I wouldn't call Star Wars cool, just that its type of nerd appeal is less stem degree sperg and more funko pop manchild

Star Wars hired Chad actors and put sexy women in bikinis while solving every problem with PEW PEW while star trek is a bunch of actors in uniforms sitting around discussing moral quandaries.

Anyways, trek being 'uncool' is partially revisionism as TNG was one of the most viewed straight fiction TV shows ever made. Spinoffs not so much but TNG had broad appeal

It’s a generational thing. Star Wars was one of the early Hollywood blockbusters. Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. All that boomercore made the big screen what it is today. It was the capeshit of its time, albeit less moronic and gay.
For context, as of 1981 Star Wars had A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back while Star Trek was still just TOS, TAS, and one boring Motion Picture. 1982 gave us Wrath of Khan and from then on Star Trek gained ground. The biggest distinction though was that Star Trek wasn’t deliberately aimed at children while Star Wars was. Star Wars made assloads of money and sold assloads of toys. Kids wanted lightsaber toys for Christmas, not phasers. Mind you all of this is happening at a time when the latter stage of boomers are going through puberty and their elder boomer siblings are in college and starting families of their own.

The utopian star fleet that portrays humanity essentially inhuman has always been Star Trek's biggest flaw.
Even concepts such as the Maquis aren't enough to detract from the sheer bullshit that is humanities portrayal.

Because star wars has the force and lightsabers and really good characters like yoda that get remembered forever
stark trek has none of that. what character from star trek amount to yoda or darth vader? none of them. they're all fricking boring. no one gives a shit lol
You either are a fan of star trek or you don't give a shit about it at all. anyone can watch some dumb star wars movie and be at least entertained slightly. the same can't be said for star trek. it is so fricking boring. It really is just a space soap opera, meanwhile star wars has action and creativity. star trek is just boring

The OT felt like a fully realized and lived in world ripe for adventure and Star Trek TOS was just a cheesy disconnected mess. The more in-depth military structure of TNG helped ground the Federation, but it's still not as cohesive as Star Wars.

It's honestly more a fantasy vs sci-fi thing. Sci-fi shit is just geekier.

Feed the Black personcattle steak and they’ll complain to the chef that it’s undercooked. Feed them a Big Mac and tell them it’s filet mignon and they will love you for it.

The simplist thing: Star Wars is primarily a movie franchise. Big in cinemas. Star Trek is primarily a TV franchise. Poor timeslots during nerd time. Casuals didn't go for that.

Neither is cools, but star wars is more normie friendly because you only need to watch 3 movies and not multiple tv series

Star Wars is adventure, excitement, swashbuckling and shooting while blowing shit up and flying fast while doing it.

Star Trek is diplomacy and administration, occasionally big ships posturing before maybe broadsiding each other, and boring away teams that "go ashore" to lecture some backwater savages or deliver cargo.

    It's action versus boring.
