This is truth in television, its what this cold-faced witch actually likes doing. Psychotic Hollywood israelites always like putting actors on roles that reveal their crimes or abuse.

(1/2) Women from middle/upper class striver backgrounds are generally only interested in performative versions of love with men, the reasons for this are both cultural and interpersonal. Culture teaches them that they are strong and independant, that they are valued higher than men and therefore should be catered to, and their young dating lives mostly reinforce this notion both through experiences with man's performative acts in order to win their favor as well as broader general feminist cultural signaling/narratives in schools, media, etc. Their families generally hold them to certain expectations of competency given that they, not their brothers, now reflect the best ability for the upward mobility of the family. Women by nature are neurotic and prone to catastrophic thinking, which is why when they arrive at a point in their lives that Amy is at - generally successful, with a good looking and economically competent husband - and they feel unfulfilled (a philosophical problem aka a problem a woman is incapable of solving) brought on by a reduction in the ability to status signal as young passions give way to mature domesticity (aka a reduction in performative acts), they project their unhappiness at their unfilfilled selves onto their husbands through further browbeating, denial of sex (the woman resents being in a position to deny her husband in the first place and so this takes on some elements of a shit test. Thats not to say that if the husband were to meet her challenge and ravage her that she wouldn't still be unhappy), and generally by withdrawing and communicating less. Men, who are already cowed by this point in their lives in both the marriage and their jobs and who are generally poor communicators to begin with, also tend to pull back from the relationship at this point, and if they have access to attractive women and the looks/charm to cheat they do.

(2/2) Women generally respond to this by going retreating further into fantasy - its at this point they realize their slavish devotion to power and conformity have backfired and they lack knowledge of their inner selves to such an extreme extent that it drives them to a kind of psychotic break. Gone girl is pretty much this female power fantasy to destroy, to wreak havoc on their parents, their upbringing, their husbands, their community, the male population, and most importantly themselves that happens at this point in their lives in response to the above factors made literal on the screen. To be a woman is to be at the mercy of these cthonic undulations and yet not understand them. I think barbie actually does better job at laying out this contradiction plainly, gone girl is too seductive and intelligent-ish to nakedly reveal its subtext so openly.

TLDR modern society has so alienated women from their ability to be women to the extent it results in large scale self destructive/homicidal fantasy being the norm

I've noticed this in friends who are women, they're bizarrely entitled and have 'traditional' values when it suits them. They're also all stupid, I have never met a very intelligent woman.

The real truth is Nick wasn't man enough to frick her into submission, to put her in her place. Its why he had to turn to grooming a minor.

Wrong. Amy would've have killed Nick if he acted that way. She wanted that "performance" of the man she dated , not to be dominated.

If she wanted that she would have just stayed with her stalker. She wants control and a partner to match her level.

There have been cases like this in real life, and the women always fails in hilarious ways. I'm sure their were some who pulled it off before DNA evidence and cell phones were a thing, but now it's practically impossible.

        Anonymous

DNA evidence isn't really a thing; it's just 'we know you did it but can't prove it so here is made up shit that can't be refuted'.
I'm not saying it can't be a thing, just that is not how it is used. You can look for yourself, FBI admits it.

          Anonymous

All that DNA does is indicate that the person in question rolled the 1 on the 3.6 million sided die or whatever. DNA is not completely absolute, but it does whittle down significantly the possibilities
